From this angle, it’s hard to argue that Casemiro deserved the red even though I did initially believe he did from the angle shown on TV. Completely different perspective. Can’t blame the ref as he won’t have seen this one but looks a harsh decision to me which will hopefully be appealed now
Another Blonder from EPL VAR Officials. this is not a red card, @Casemiro was holding him off from the fight and they later laughed and hugged each other…@Evra @GNev2 @EplPidgin @D_DeGea @MarcusRashford @Rasheedat08 @B_Fernandes8 @LukeShaw23 @antony00 pic.twitter.com/KL0ZXXMuIR

I’m with you Sean on Klopp. He may have taken the team as far as he can. He may not. I honestly think it’s irrelevant. As long as he’s not taking you down (he isn’t, obviously) then the last few years have surely bought him the chance to try to fix this. There is obviously a point at which it must be admitted that he can’t fix it but it can’t be yet. Would be crazy to sack him.

Was only my suggestion Sean. Haven’t seen you linked with him. I know you turned your nose up at Tuchel for being too negative so not sure who else you could go for tbh. I know you don’t want Klopp to go but I’m just curious who you would accept in the event he did go.

Liverpool fans, if Klopp did go, what would you think of Roberto De Zerbi as a replacement? Is it too early to judge him? Looks very good so far. Tuchel has followed Klopp reasonably successfully before so might be worth a go. Poch would be a bad choice IMO.

How can Liverpool go from being so good last season and almost winning the lot to being this bad, though? It’s just such a drastic decline. He has earned the right, surely, to have a write-off season?

Nothing about whether the red card call was correct Adlab?! π. I’ve never known a rival team’s fan be so engrossed in decisions in Utd games π. For the record, that’s the second pen we’ve had in the league all season, less than all our rivals. We’ve been due a pen for weeks.
In fairness Casemiro deserved his red but a Palace player did exactly the same and got nothing.

Rightly so Nine. Absolutely crazy that he made himself DOF, temporarily or not.

Sean this is the same Boehly that thought Chelsea’s academy developed De Bruyne and Salah π so it’s safe to say his football knowledge is fairly limited!

Osimhen will be massively sought after and will be Β£150mil at least. Surely Chelsea won’t be going into those kind of figures as soon as this summer? Vlahovic could be more attainable as Juventus might be forced to sell. Chelsea will be shopping in the same bracket as Utd and Bayern, both in need of top number 9s and with the likely disadvantage of no CL so they’re going to have to spend big. Ramos of Benfica, Vlahovic, Osimhen and maybe Sesko could all have 3 or 4 clubs after then this summer.

3rd February 2023 at 3:11 pm in reply to: January Transfers 2023 (All I Want For Christmas is….) #203631Yeah fair enough Lucky. I found myself tearing my hair out whenever Mount played for England but he wouldn’t be the first to struggle to replicate his club form for his country. To be fair, Henderson used to massively divide Liverpool fans then seemed to win most of them over again.

3rd February 2023 at 2:53 pm in reply to: January Transfers 2023 (All I Want For Christmas is….) #203628But do Chelsea fans universally rate him? I’ve always thought of him as one of those who divides fans. Seem to think I’ve read a lot of Chelsea fans criticising him over the years.

3rd February 2023 at 2:34 pm in reply to: January Transfers 2023 (All I Want For Christmas is….) #203624Admittedly I don’t watch much of Mount but, at least when he plays for England, he’s one of those players who just baffles me as I have no idea what he offers. Seemingly Southgate started to see there were more capable players, too, as he got less games as the WC went on.

2nd February 2023 at 7:30 pm in reply to: January Transfers 2023 (All I Want For Christmas is….) #20360780 million transfer fee over 8 years is 10 million per year.
You have a player for 3 years so his cost 30 million so far.
You sell that player for 50 million.
30 Million Cost VS 50 Million Sales = 20 Million Profit!
Donβt forget weβre talking UEFA FFP rulesβ¦ theyβre not supposed to make sense! π
No, again that’s not a profit or surplus in FFP terms.
Year 1
10mil
Year 210mil
Year 310mil
Year 4 10mil
Year 5 10mil
Year 6 10mil
Year 7 10mil
Year 8 10milSo you sell him after that 3rd year. You’ve accounted for 3×10 (30mil). But there is 50mil still left to account for. You sell him for 50mil then any surplus is calculated by taking the incoming fee minus any remaining accounting costs. In this case (10×5 remaining =50)

2nd February 2023 at 7:25 pm in reply to: January Transfers 2023 (All I Want For Christmas is….) #203604Yeah Chucky, what you posted at 7.16pm is what myself and Lucky were saying. In that scenario, it’s a Β£5mil profit because there is 10mil left to account for (2 yrs left at 5mil a year). 15mil coming in and 10mil left to account for = 5mil profit.

2nd February 2023 at 6:52 pm in reply to: January Transfers 2023 (All I Want For Christmas is….) #203599Good points Mikus about PL proven players. That’s become increasingly difficult now though as all the other PL clubs are so rich now so you have to balance the inflated cost of PL players against the increased likelihood of them succeeding.

2nd February 2023 at 6:47 pm in reply to: January Transfers 2023 (All I Want For Christmas is….) #203596I don’t think that’s how it works Chucky. In that event it would be net 0. Because there is still the remaining 5×10 to account for the final 5 yrs which are yet to be accounted for when he’s sold. But say they sell him for 60mil, they would have a 10mil profit in the FFP books because there’s a 10mil surplus from the remaining 5×10 once the 60mil comes in.
I don’t know how it works with academy players though. I assume that’s where the magic happens because I guess they are just pure profit when they’re sold and it goes straight into the FFP plus account. So if you can create a conveyor belt of academy talent, as Chelsea have done over the years, you’re basically growing money on trees. I stand to be corrected but that’s my understanding

2nd February 2023 at 4:22 pm in reply to: January Transfers 2023 (All I Want For Christmas is….) #203585Oh give it a rest Adlab π. Chelsea have quite rightly been hammered from all angles for their unprecedented levels of spending this window. How on earth you’ve managed to miss all that is beyond me. The way you miss all that but the first small sign of Liverpool or Utd getting a decision go their way, your observation levels are off the chart π

“In this case a combination of the withdrawal of key witnesses and new material that came to light meant there was no longer a realistic prospect of conviction. In these circumstances, we are under a duty to stop the case”
New evidence? Key witness withdrawal? I’d heard a while ago rumours that he was back with the girl. I have not changed my stance on this. I do not want Greenwood to ever play for the club again. I’m really pleased with how Utd have acted so far in this case despite how highly I rated Greenwood as a player. It’s a tough one. Do you try to sell him or do you drop him from his contract and turn down millions in the process? Or do you do what some clubs have done and just sweep it under the carpet?
