Lampardβs not cut out for Management.
It has to be said Nil but he really isn’t. He’s tactically inept and just not very good. Like Gerrard, I think he’ll quietly drift away from management with his tail between his legs and stick to punditry.
Feel a bit for Lucky today making the trip to the Bridge to be served up that dross. Spurs seemingly not much better.

What a revelation Roy Hodgson has been since going back to Palace. What a job Unai Emery is doing also.

Brighton absolutely flying. Looks like they completely dominated Chelsea at their own place. They would be very deserving of top 4 if they managed to do it.

Haha Lucky. Saw that 3-0 prediction from Boehly and had to laugh. The guy is clueless π
Nil, what’s not to like about Ancelotti? He’s an absolute gent. Never moans at all.

Yeah you’d have to fancy City to win it from here. Madrid are not the side of recent seasons. Napoli is the side who could potentially cause City problems but even there, you’d fancy City. No pressure at all on Chelsea tonight as nobody really expects them to do anything. On the other hand, they’re the side who probably need the CL win more than any other as it’s their only route back into the competition next season.

No, nothing Sean. Wasn’t even looked at by VAR I don’t think. Yeah so many like that being overlooked.
Pgmol have now come out and apologised and said Brighton should have had a pen against Spurs. Brighton really did get robbed there yesterday and it could well cost them top 4.

Oh it may well have been an accident Lucky but they’ve shown with the Casemiro red that intention doesn’t matter. Casemiro actually got the ball, too. Garner was nowhere near the ball there.

McTominay can definitely be dirty at times. Probably should have had a booking. How Garner didn’t see red for this though is crazy.

Very concerning Lucky. Has an interim manager ever been sacked before? π

Lucky, really? Worse than under Potter? Fully expected a massive performance from Chelsea today.

Yeah Chucky it sounded like Brighton were unfortunate today. To be honest, I’m slightly more fearful of them catching us than Spurs, so I don’t mind this result as I think you’ll fall away anyway. No reason why you can’t put a run together though now and challenge still from that position.

All the more frustrating Alfie when Eriksen is only just coming back from a horrible challenge which went unpunished. I’m not sure Michael Oliver, a Newcastle fan, should be managing our games to be honest. Surely a conflict of interest considering how close we are in the table.

Yeah we’re screwed if Rashford is injured. Martial can’t be relied on having hardly played this season. Back to relying on Weghorst to score us the goals we need π

Great early kickoff today. Utd absolutely battering Everton. 21 shots in the first half alone from Utd, a PL highest of the season so far. Might be left rueing the missed chances though if we don’t score again.

Frank Lampard has to be the luckiest manager in the history of the game imo. Not once has he done anything of note in the game and yet here is on his 3rd PL job at one of the biggest clubs in the league who happen to be in the QF of the CL. Did an ok job at Derby, though didn’t improve their league position despite a massive budget and some Chelsea loanees. Sacked by Chelsea having the worst win % of any manager in the Roman era. Sacked by Everton for almost taking down a team who haven’t been in the second tier for 120yrs. He doesn’t really have a style of play.
With all that said, the more I think about the appointment, the more I think it makes sense. When a club legend comes in, irrespective of his management abilities, what you absolutely always get is an initial bounce. The same would be true if Gerrard was appointed Liverpool manager today. You know it would end in tears (because he’s not a very good manager) but there’d 100% be an initial lift. The thing with an interim appointment is you only really need the initial lift. That could be enough to carry them through against Madrid and some tough PL games then who knows what they end up with. A CL, ala Di Matteo can’t be ruled out.
As others have said though, the dangers of the lift they get is that the board think they don’t need a new manager now. They can just extend Lampard’s deal. So from a Chelsea fan’s perspective, you’d want him to do well but not too well that he gets the job.

I was saying the same Sean. Say if Luis Enrique comes in and wants ultra technical pass masters, what then? Another half a billion splurge? By all accounts, they will need to balance the books this summer rather than spend that big again so it begs the question of how that fits in with a new coach who will have a completely different style to Potter.

The rumours have already started that this could be another Ole situation π³
Lampard says he hasnβt been told that itβs strictly until the end of the season.

Maybe so Steve. Even Sean fancies a Liverpool win and Sean never fancies a Liverpool win π

We should definitely have too much for Everton but stranger things have happened. We’re not scoring many at the moment but at home we’re pretty solid.
I fancy Brentford to take something off Newcastle. Need Spurs and Brighton to draw please. Liverpool-Arsenal could be an interesting one with Liverpool’s home record being strong still.
