Not even Utd fans think Antony has been value for money. With that said, Brazilian players have a tendency of needing a year or so to settle. He was the best player on the park at the weekend so there is a player in there. If he can add some consistency, he might just make it after all. I remain doubtful though. Does make me laugh how the media absolutely hammer Nunez and Antony but Grealish got a free ride in his first season where he was crap. He’s settled in there now, in fairness. But I’ve never understood why Grealish was left alone. Because he’s English? Because he doesn’t play for Utd/Liverpool?
I’d say Utd and Liverpool have got more value from the two of them than City have from Philips anyway. Has he played a full 90mins yet? Richarlison definitely up there too. Sterling another. He was probably a lot of people’s tip (mine included) to be one of the signings of the season.

Yeah I suppose the whole “experience” factor worked well with Hodgson. I’ve just never considered Rafa to be a galvanising, keep-them-up kind of manager. He was in the process of taking Everton down.

When did Rafa last do anything of note? He was pretty dire at Newcastle and then at Everton. Even more so than Mourinho, I think Rafa has seen the game pass him by now. He doesn’t seem to have developed with the game enough for me.

Mikus, I think clubs are, much more than previously, deciding to change managers quite suddenly without much of a succession plan in mind. Leeds, Leicester, Chelsea all spring to mind as simply deciding to get rid of a manager without really knowing what to do next and all have arguably regretted it ever since.

Could we have another PL sacking? π Leeds lose 5-1 then 6-1 at home in consecutive games.

Ivan Toney has been directly involved in more Premier League goals this season (22) than Darwin NuΓ±ez and Kai Havertz combined (19).

I feel like De Gea should definitely be nominated as he has the most clean sheets this season. Can’t justify picking him but he should definitely be nominated. Certainly ahead of Kepa.

I feel like there should be a Brighton player or two in there but I’m struggling to pick one. It’s almost as though they’ve been a better team than they have been individuals. Surprised Caicedo isn’t nominated.

Sean, that wouldn’t be far off mine. Wouldn’t moan if Rodri got in ahead of Casemiro either. Either would be deserving imo.

Saka and Rashford have to be in, no question.

So Spurs and Newcastle have as many nominees as the probable league winners in Man City and 11th placed Chelsea have just 1 less nomination. Seriously, how do they get to these names? It’s a complete joke that some of those names are in there.

Kepa being in as a GK and no De Gea is another one. Most clean sheets in the league this season and not even nominated?!

On Bruno, it’s an absolute travesty that Bentancur and Hojbjerg from Spurs have been nominated for the PL team of the season and Bruno hasn’t. Only De Bruyne has created more chances than Bruno this season.

He will frustrate utd fans as much as opposition fans at times I think but his talent is clear.
100% this, Lucky. I’ve seen a few say about Bruno that when he’s good, he’s excellent but when he’s bad he’s awful. That pretty much sums him up. Here’s a stat though from yesterday:
Since joining Utd, Bruno has won more MOTM awards than any other player in the league. That arguably says as much about the rest of Utd’s squad as it does about him but it’s impressive nonetheless.

Yeah Sean. I think Brighton are the only ones who could realistically sneak in now. Spurs have 3 games now to save their season with Newcastle, Utd and Liverpool but it’s hard to see them taking much from those.

Ah ok that’s good to know, Lucky. A new poster’s first post is always flagged by design as it stops idiots getting in. So maybe there’s some flaw in that setup,as you suggest.

PPT, yeah that’s my fault re the post taking ages. Every now and again posts get flagged as needing approval and I only logged on this morning so it was just sitting waiting to be approved. If a post fits a certain criteria it can be flagged as potential spam and just gets filtered. No idea tbh why that one was flagged.

You’d have to say failure to win for Liverpool tonight removes any slim hope they have to get top 4. There couldn’t be a better place to go right now than Leeds though who are in an awful run of form. Fancy Liverpool to win tonight and put a bit of a run together. Still think there’s going to be a late surge from someone for that 4th spot. Probably too late now for Liverpool with Brighton and Villa now flying and Newcastle and ourselves already holding a decent points advantage.
