Brilliant from Liverpool. Imagine Barca a few years ago losing (arguably) their most valuable player and not being able to bring their top targets in. I think we’ve seen a real power shift over the last year or so. The squads at Barca and Real are still some way above most of the rest of Europe but you get the feeling that once Messi, Suarez and Ronaldo start showing their age, the Spanish league could easily slip down the ladder.

Yep most of the top clubs should be winning really. Spurs and Liverpool have slightly trickier games but both should be coming through them if they want to be challenging.

Mwake, yes that’s right. I also played Championship Manager for a while then Sports Interactive moved over and started making Football Manager. Championship Manager carried on for a while but wasn’t anywhere near as good any more. It really was like a drug. Whatever important things you had to do, it was always:
“One more game…”
I knew I’d been playing too long when I watched Theo Walcott go from an 18yr old at Arsenal to battling with me for trophies as a manager!

Thanks for letting me know careworker. It shouldn’t happen again now after I changed a couple of things. WordPress is notorious for minor signup/login issues and it can sometimes be tricky finding the issue but I think I’ve fixed it now.

Probably not. He’s obviously a bit jealous about Walker going and earning a hell of a lot more at City. I read somewhere that Walker earns 130k now to Rose’s 30k. Some difference that especially when, as you say, Rose is probably the better player.
Shaw would probably be a good buy for you but he’d probably want wages way above what you’re paying Rose so Spurs would be much better just paying the going rate. It only costs more in the long run not to!

I’m not sure Barkley would be a good buy for anyone really. He doesn’t seem to have kicked on at all since he was 18/19. He may be an ok squad player I suppose and that’s what you need right now

Banjo, PSG after Mbappe , really? I hadn’t seen that. That would be just incredible and a real middle finger to the authorities after all the fuss over the Neymar fee and how they would afford it. They’re going to be an extremely dangerous team with or without Mbappe.

There is a non-footy site Chucky. You’ll find it through the menu or through the index forum. Still some work to do to make navigation easier but it’s there with not much on it at the moment!

Yeah tricky one for Spurs as it will cost a lot to get players ready to displace any of your starting XI. I wonder though why they haven’t just spent some money on lesser players who can at least fill the squad out a bit. They’re looking incredibly light if any of the star players get injured

Hightown, it certainly looked like he had (given up on him) but he started giving him a few games towards the end of last season and then he got injured. He went with the squad for pre-season but was never going to be fit enough to play. It seems like he’s going to be giving him a chance to prove himself again.
As much as I didn’t like Mourinho’s public criticism of Shaw, he has rarely looked in shape since joining us and clearly needs to work a lot harder to establish himself at a top club. I’d love to see him recapture his Southampton form or even his form from just before he broke his leg for us. When on that form, there are few better left backs around imo.

Personally, I hope we stay away from Rose. As good as he is, I really don’t like how he handled that interview. Besides, going for Rose would mean we’d all but given up on Shaw which would be a real shame as he showed so much promise. Strange one for Spurs. They need to work hard on keeping their current players happy and that’s before they’ve even considered strengthening their squad further.

I completely forgot this non-football forum was reachable from the main page! I had been using it to test different things. Seeing as you’ve posted, I’ll leave it up for a bit and see if there is some interest in it.
I haven’t tried Psych. I will give it a try. Just finished Ozark on Netflix and I really liked that. Really well written and addictive.

What’s everyone’s take on the Danny Rose interview?

It must make difficult reading for Spurs fans who just lost Kyle Walker. The whole “playing up north” thing is a bit strange too. Has somebody been in his ear offering him a much better wage? I don’t like the way he spoke out in public but in many ways it’s inevitable the Spurs players will start to get itchy feet when they can earn 2/3 times more at another club.
