Yeah I think so too Lucky. Not sure Uefa would be all that pleased as it would signify a real power shift. For the fans, though, it could be great.

Neymar going there at 31 is rather significant though. He may not be likeable but that’s a very big and very good player going there at an age where he is still at the top of his game. Something tells me the World Club Cup is going to grow into a much more significant competition in the coming years. Historically it’s been a bit of a nothing competition but with the emergence of the Saudi league and the likes of Messi going to the MLS, it could eventually rival the CL.

13th August 2023 at 7:03 pm in reply to: Kick Off 2023-24 Gameweek 1 – Weekend Action – it’s back! #208250The fact Rodri is so good really makes me wonder why City were bidding for Rice. That was one transfer I didn’t understand. They already paid Β£50mil for Kalvin Phillips to sit on the bench. Was he going to be another bench warmer for them?
Haven’t seen any of the games today but sounds like a draw was a fair result at the Bridge. Can’t make either of those teams out yet. Liverpool were a shambles at the back at times last season and you’d expect them to have improved there and Chelsea have tons of talent but it remains to be seen that Poch is capable of competing for trophies in a league like the PL.

I have no idea how they manage it Sean. According to the below article, they’ve spent Β£750 million already under Boehly and that could approach a billion by the time Lavia and Caicedo are done. A billion in the short time they’ve been there is incredible and I have no idea how they do it. Them and City seem to not have to worry about FFP for some reason.

So true Mikus. Lavia likely won’t feel so wanted by Liverpool now they’re coming back for him after this either.
Ally, that’s a shame to hear from a Spurs fan perspective. He’ll be a real miss from the league.

Wow, that’s mightily embarrassing for Liverpool. How do you get to the point of making a PL record transfer bid without knowing the player wants to join?

Whoever he (Caicedo) goes to, if De Zerbi can get Brighton challenging for top 4 again despite losing Mac Allister and Caicedo, he is an absolute genius and will be very much in demand.

Incredible stuff
Chelsea this morning asked Moises Caicedo to wait as they explore a way of hijacking Liverpool's own hijack. Caicedo hasn't travelled for a medical yet. #LFC have a Β£111m deal agreed with Brighton, but #CFC actively exploring options. One of the craziest stories of any window.πͺπ¨ pic.twitter.com/Y7prHVizx3

This is going to be entertaining to follow after all the Chelsea fans have come out this morning saying they don’t want him anyway π
π¨ ππ₯πππππ‘π: Moises Caicedo is having second thoughts about the move to Liverpool. The player and his representatives are still in London amid reports Chelsea are coming back in for him.

He walks into your midfield Rover. I get you think he was too expensive but he’d easily improve Chelsea

Yeah there’s zero chance this signing gets Liverpool the league over Abu Dhabi but, for me, it puts them right up there as challengers with Arsenal for that 2nd spot and leaves everyone else fighting for 4th. It’s a good season to get what looks like 5 CL spots for the rest of us anyway.

Would be an insane signing. Why, though, did they pull out of the Bellingham deal when that was cheaper? Don’t want to hear Klopp moaning ever again about these big transfer fees π

Utd almost had Caicedo for Β£5mil 3 years ago π
Manchester United are in direct contact with the agents of Moises Caicedo (Indep. del Valle).
The agreement on personal terms [5 years] wonβt be a problem. β¬5m price tag.#MUFC βcontrolβ the situation by weeks and will decide soon wether to complete the deal or not. π΄πͺπ¨

What’s another Β£100mil to Chelsea though Rover? It’ll be spread over 30 years or something π
I saw that Mikus and instantly thought of De Gea. I’d be really happy for him to go there and win something. Maybe even cement his place there so Courtois doesn’t get back in. A solid keeper who just didn’t suit the new manager. Most clean sheets in the toughest league in the world last season.

If Chelsea end the window with a midfield three of Enzo, Caicedo and Lavia, that’s some midfield they’d have there. They’re a top striker away from being a real threat to other teams chasing top 4.

What message does that send to Lavia though if true?
Liverpool: “Sorry mate, we can’t afford the extra Β£4mil for you”
Also Liverpool: “Hi, is that Brighton? We’d like to make a bid for your Β£90-100mil rated midfielder Moises Caicedo”

10th August 2023 at 12:25 pm in reply to: Kick Off 2023-24 Gameweek 1 – Weekend Action – it’s back! #208060All last season we were cursed when it came to facing teams who had just sacked their manager and who were having the new manager bounce. I didn’t think it would be possible to continue that curse in the very first game of the season π. Fully expecting Wolves to play like prime Barcelona against us! We should win anyway but no idea why we always seem to face newly appointed managers after sackings.
