Personally, I’m just gutted it wasn’t Southgate!
Who knows if Amorim will be a success. Aside from Pep, there really are no guarantees of success in the game these days. The fact City were reportedly lining up Amorim as the man to replace Pep does somewhat fill me with confidence but let’s see.

I’ve no issue at all with them not removing him this summer. As I wrote earlier, he was set up to fail with being given all that control of transfers. Having won the FA Cup and now having the structure he deserved from day one, he deserved the chance to see if he could excel in a role more focused on being a head coach rather than an all controlling old fashioned style of manager. That it ended this soon into this “new chance” is nobody’s fault but his own. He left them no choice.

Ten Hag had power to make his own transfers and that didnt work too well! Don’t think I can ever remember a manager who made so many transfer cock-ups.
You’re not wrong Threeps. In hindsight, Ten Hag was set up to fail because he was brought in as a head coach with no top recruitment team around him and no elite director of football. Essentially no football knowledge at all at board level. Yet he was given the keys to the transfer budget. Modern day managers aren’t cut out for that. Even Klopp didn’t want Salah at Liverpool. Without the structure around him at Liverpool, who knows what he would have achieved. Same goes for Pep. These managers don’t manage their budgets like Ten Hag has done. It was set up for failure from day 1.

One big positive change I’m seeing since Ineos came in is how under the radar these big moves are. Omar Berrada the new CEO, out of nowhere. Leny Yoro, supposedly on his way to Madrid, agrees to come to us out of nowhere. Now, out of nowhere Amorim is in talks. This is why I never for a minute believed the Southgate odds. The media were getting absolutely nothing from the club until it’s too late.

Bonkers that they’ve just spent £180 million on players over summer to work under Ten Hag.
I think they’ve done exactly the opposite of that Mikus, hence Ten Hag’s reluctance to play Ugarte. The whole point of this summer was about moving from buying players for the manager to buying players for the club. Interestingly, Ugarte played very well for Amorim, for instance, at Sporting.

Southgate to Utd would be us doing the full Liverpool journey mirroring the disastrous Hodgson appointment 😁

For what it’s worth, I think Ruud will take us until the end of the season, barring a horrific start as interim. I think that gives us more options as our top targets probably wouldn’t move mid season anyway.

Was a matter of time. Absolutely nobody who is considered reliable has spoken up the prospect of Southgate 😆. Never ever going to happen, lads. Sounding like Frank, Nagelsmann and Amorim are the names being considered. Ornstein and Laurie Whitwell both been very quick to deny any Southgate rumours any time they come up. Seems to be lazy pundits putting together the fact Brailsford knows him and Ashworth worked with him at England.

I’m not sure many Utd fans have been talking about any corners being turned this season Sean. Brentford are a tricky side for a lot of the big teams so I never take beating them for granted but you’re right that we should be beating them if we have any kind of aspirations this season. I think most Utd fans are just resigned to the fact Ten Hag is on borrowed time now so these mini revivals are probably just delaying the inevitable.

Hope you had a good birthday CM. Yeah good start by Slot, no getting away from that. I did think they’d get off to a flier and I’ve always maintained we’ll not know much about Slot until they hit their first bad spell, which they’ve yet to do. So far, shades of Ange’s start at Spurs. Let’s see how they react to their first bad spell under him. Full credit to their start this far.
As for our lot, I just can’t work us out. Thought we looked very good after the tactical switch before which Brentford were all over us. The thing with us under Ten Hag is you know an awful performance is just around the corner at any given time.

Yeah agree Sean. He badly needs a move. I think Utd letting him go for a reasonably small fee, considering those wages, would suit everyone. He’d tear it up at PSG

Can’t stand Ange honestly with his “I always win things in my second year” snipe. Incredibly embarrassing for Ten Hag that we made them look as good as they did at OT. That alone is a sackable offence.

Ah ed can they sack without really giving the players he signed in the summer time to settle?
I’d agree with you Sean if we were getting these results and it was his first season but he’s 3 seasons in. It’s totally unacceptable. The players aren’t blameless but I think they’ve just lost confidence in his ideas. It doesn’t take much of a drop off in desire and motivation with the type of football we play for it to be disastrous.
Give it Ruud until the end of the season and spend the rest of the season just planning the next appointment. Nagelsmann would be my ideal choice.

Congrats Chucky. Just awful from us. No excuses. He has to go now. Not even bothered about the harsh red because we were every bit as shite with 11 men

I do think that’s the kind of situation where a second yellow shouldn’t mean a red. There should be some punishment which isn’t a sending off, be it a sin bin or whatever. It’s completely ruined the game as a spectacle and just turned it into attack vs defence.

Pep kicking the chair was hilarious 😂. They need a bit more drama these rivalries. Always found the Pep-Klopp rivalry as dull as dishwater. Far too much hugs and high fives.

Hard to see Arsenal hanging on for the rest of the game now with 10 men. Full credit to them if they can.
Yeah thought Utd were very good yesterday and unlucky to only get a point. Martinez absolutely crazy for going in with that 2 footer. Was lucky he didn’t touch the Palace player.

I think he’s had a big wake up call coming to the PL having only managed in much smaller leagues previously and his stubbornness will likely be his downfall. Going around talking about how he ALWAYS wins trophies in his second season is comical when taken you consider the leagues he’s managed in compared to where he is now. No idea how he escapes media scrutiny like he does.

This will be a fun one to look back on at the end of the season 😆. Someone needs to tell him he’s not managing in the Australian league any longer
Ange Postecoglou when asked if Spurs can win a trophy this season: “I don’t usually win things, I ALWAYS win things in my second year”.
