Missed all the games tonight as I was playing footy myself. Looks like no surprises tonight with all the bigger sides easing through. Looking forward to the PL again this weekend!

20th September 2017 at 9:39 pm in reply to: Poll- Who will be the next Premier League Manager to go? #5385? I think the poll has been hijacked. 65% for Klopp?!
I think Bilic is a goner. Koeman I think may get a bit more time purely because they went to such lengths to tempt him to join from Southampton after a decent spell there. Klopp? Not a chance for me

Liverpool on their way out? By the looks of things, Liverpool have again had all of the ball and most of the chances. How is Oxford getting on? Doesn’t look to be too much else exciting happening tonight. Palace finally getting a win perhaps?

Merged yours into this one Banjo! Agree that’s probably the stand out tie tonight. I wonder how seriously the CL teams will take this competition? Some of the squads are already a little thin. Hope we see some youngsters get some minutes

Afternoon Beni,
Are you surprised they sing the song or surprised by the furore surrounding it?
I’m surprised it has caused such a fuss. If Kick It Out deem it racist, then the song should be stopped and that should be the end of it. I’m amazed, considering some of the genuinely offensive things still chanted at football grounds around the country, that this has created so many headlines. It’s clear there were no harmful intentions with the song.

Absolutely Jim, it’s a farce. I was merely pointing out that he’s at least kept himself in good shape. There’s no comparison between his fitness and Flintoff’s from when he made the switch over. The reality, though, is that boxing is about so much more than being in good shape, as you say.

He’s in incredible shape, unlike Flintoff who tried the same thing a while back. Look how ripped he is here:
Still, at 38, it’s surely nothing more than a publicity stunt.

P.S. Clicking on the coloured pie chart after each fixture shows you what everyone else has predicted for that match

Fair summary of those players I guess, Banjo. Maybe my memory was playing tricks on me. OK I’ll refine my statement. If that side had Harry Kane and the current side’s defence, they’d be a real contender for the league!

Woodgate, too. Woodgate and King, now they would have been a contender for the best centreback pairing the league had seen if they’d both stayed fit. Both quality

Was it that bad Banjo? You’ll remember better than I can but I had a quick look back at the squad and there’s some quality in that defence. Dawson, King, Gallas, Corluka, Kaboul. Fullbacks were a bit dodgy, granted but I don’t remember it being as bad as you say.

Doesn’t seem two minutes since he looked nailed on for the England job. Ever since then, his career has gone further and further downhill. A shame really as he built some side there at Spurs. That side he had at Spurs but with Harry Kane would have been a real contender I think for the league

@Trebor, I appreciate your frustration but I don’t think a draw at home to any of the top sides (we are still calling Arsenal a top side right?) is ever disastrous. Chelsea are a solid side and Conte has already proved himself to be a very good manager. Have faith and I think things will come good. Besides, Hazard is back soon!

As good as City have looked, I wouldn’t be backing them at that price. Last season was similar if I remember correctly. Chelsea’s start was not great and City’s was pretty good. One thing’s for sure though, and that’s that it will be a special side that finishes above this City side. As things stand, and as Banjo suggested, you’d probably put the top 6 in that order

Completely agree about David Silva. Great player. It always surprised me that neither of the big two in Spain came in for him, or Aguero for that matter. Silva though, particularly, would have slotted in nicely at either Barca or Madrid.

That 4-0 scoreline really flattered Utd today. Still, it’s the kind of game Utd would have drawn last season so it’s certainly a sign of improvement. Everton really should be doing much better. Koeman could well be in trouble soon

Couple of tough games for Chelsea coming up there Nine. Morata seems to have hit the ground running at Chelsea and will no doubt benefit massively from a fit Hazard coming back into the team.
Stunning opening goal from Valencia at Old Trafford. He’s not one known for his goalscoring prowess so it’s nice to see him score a goal he’ll never forget. Rooney should have done better with his chance just after the break.

He was brilliant against Utd in pre-season. As you’ve both said, he’ll definitely struggle to break into that midfield at the moment. A loan move might do him good.
As we’ve seen with Jack Grealish, Jack Wilshere, Josh Mceachran, Tom Cleverly, Michael Johnson etc, it’s important at this early stage to not overhype these young players. Hopefully he goes on to fulfil his massive potential, though.

Couldn’t catch the London Derby. Is it a boring 0-0 game or has it been a good one? Either way, happy with the score and hope it stays 0-0!
