Players have been moving for the most money for years Jim and it will never change. We’ve missed out on plenty of players through the years through not wanting to pay the asking price. Ferguson famously refused to pay the fee Lille wanted for Hazard. That principle got us Kagawa instead who we ended up losing money on so I don’t always think it’s worth haggling too much.
I just don’t buy into all this Pep or money thing the media are spouting though. We get it. Pep is a great, great coach and City play great stuff. But this is the same Sanchez that told a Chile teammate a few years ago that all he’s ever wanted is to play for Utd. We’re some way behind City currently but I think the whole “everyone wants to play for City” stuff is a bit overplayed. Pep has won nothing at all yet in England. Mourinho is famous for being an extremely persuasive person when it comes to convincing players to join and it won’t have slipped Sanchez’s mind that Pep has already sold him once before.
You’ve admitted yourself that he’d be a luxury buy for you. What would it say about Sanchez if he came somewhere to be a luxury player who won’t play a lot when he can go to a team where he’ll play every week? At 29, unless I was getting a hell of a lot more money to be a bit part player, I’d be going to the club where I was going to be playing.

Well it appears none of the Utd or City fans on this forum want Sanchez at their club! What makes him a money grabber though Jim? Pep is the highest paid club manager in world football. Is he a money grabber too? Genuine question. Just interested to hear why he’s any different to any of the rest of the football world who want the most money they can get?!

What a player he looked like he was going to be after that famous game at home to Barca! Since then, I think he’s showed in flashes that he has the talent but he just doesn’t seem to kick on to another level. Although, you see someone like the Ox finding his feet now at Liverpool and have to wonder if Wilshere might benefit from a move away, too. I’d definitely take him to the World Cup though.

Great game for the neutral. Really thought they’d pulled it back there in the last minute. Ederson was poor today and Stones wasn’t great either. Sane I thought had a decent game.
It wouldn’t surprise me at all to see Liverpool go far in the CL. Not many top teams will be able to cope with their pressing game and with Van Dijk to come in and shore up the defence, you just never know. It’s the smaller sides Liverpool seem to struggle to break down.

Bakayoko just doesn’t look to have settled in this side. For all Conte’s moaning about not getting his choice of players in also, I think it’s pretty clear Morata was his choice and he just looks half the player Costa was at the moment. Nobody is even making City fight for this league title!

As others have said, the site is just not big enough or busy enough at the moment to survive with specific club sites. This is the reason the site is set up the way it is. I prefer to see the different forums (be it the Liverpool one, the City one or whatever) more as categories than separate club sites.
If it ever gets to the point where the club sites can survive by themselves and be more defined and separated, then the layout may have to change but for now, that’s just not going to work.
So, to summarise, the site is deliberately set up in a way to maximise the overlap between the different club sites so as to encourage debate.

I’m sorry to have to do this again but I’ve put Nil on another break from posting. As well as the nonsense above, I’ve just received a ridiculous email on a Friday night saying much the same thing.
I’d be keen to hear whether people think he should be let back on but I’m just growing tired of these late night outbursts.

Haha Pagan! No mate. I don’t count the Charity Shield. To be fair, it wasn’t Jose who put us in the Europa. Once you’re in it, which IS slightly embarrassing, the only thing you can do is win it, and that he did.
I’m sure Chelsea fans must have mocked the Europa before celebrating Rafa lifting the cup for Chelsea!

Yeah Lingard has massively improved under Jose. I’d say Young has been much better too under him.
People say Rashford has gone backwards but compare his career to Iheanacho, who we were constantly told was a better prospect than Rashford and I’d say Rashford has done much better under Jose than Iheanacho under Pep!
We’re only now seeing the benefits of persisting with Lingard and I am glad that Jose/Utd are persistent with Rashford too while it would be much easier to sell him for 20-30mil and bring in someone ready made.
Jose hasn’t massively improved many players, granted, but people are far too quick to write him off. He was the only PL manager to have won two trophies last season so it’s mental that people are writing him off already. We’re second in the league having spent the second highest amount on players. It’s not amazing but it’s hardly the disaster it’s made out to be either.
For all the stick Jose gets for not giving youngsters chances, I wouldn’t say any of the other PL managers are doing any better in that respect at the moment.

I’m absolutely convinced he’ll go to City. I’m not sure he’s prepared for the challenge involved in going to a Utd side that needs to play catch up. He’s got an easy winner’s medal waiting for him at City whereas at Utd it’s all about getting stuck in with not much chance of winning much this season. If I was him and City were not prepared to pay the extra money, I’d wonder how much they really wanted me so it works both ways.
I have a feeling this is all just a ploy to get more money from City by Arsenal. City will walk the league without him though so they’ll be more than prepared to wait until the summer for him if needed.
I hope we stay away from him if I’m honest. I don’t want us signing players at 29. He’ll only block the progress of the likes of Rashford.

I’ve really no idea what I want to happen in this one. We’re not going to catch City obviously but, for obvious reasons, I’d like to see City not go the whole season unbeaten as we’ll never hear the end of it!
Realistically, though, Liverpool are our only threat to achieving our bare minimum goal of getting CL football again so a Liverpool win is not ideal either!
To summarise, let’s just hope for a good game!

I heard somewhere this morning that Chelsea now average a new manager every 14 months in the Roman era.
On one hand, you’d think it’s about time Chelsea went for some stability and long term planning. On the other hand, it’s hard to argue that point when they’ve won more than anyone during the last decade or so.
I don’t understand why any top PL club would go for Tuchel who clearly wasn’t good enough for Dortmund. I’m not sure going back for Ancelotti is such a wise move either.
