All spot on Threeps. I’ve suspected for a while that his treatment of Sancho (which I agree with) is part of what’s caused this season’s decline. He’s (Sancho) bound to have friends in the squad and if a few turn against the manager, as appears the case, the whole thing collapses. He’s made mistakes in the transfer market but I don’t think that happens with the right structure around him.
The only way to rid the squad of that kind of mentality is to stick with him and be willing to suffer short term for long term gain. The problem with that is that it’s an expensive fix to replace all the bad apples, a lot of which are on big, long contracts. The quick fix is to bring in a nice manager who can “get them playing with a smile on their face again” which is code for bringing in a soft touch who will let them do what they want.

There might be, but would you trust this lot to:
1. Identify that man?
2. Entice that man to join on an interim basis? The potential names are not exactly rolling off the tongue either.

We should have played Ange-ball when we went down to 10. Just play a ridiculously high line, get battered then at least Ten Hag could come away being declared a genius 😄

Easier said than done on the last part Mikus. It’s a bit like saying “Chelsea should just go out and bring in a cheap 20 goal a season striker.”

Something is not right there with Varane, though. Why is he starting Maguire and Evans when Varane is sitting on the bench? Why is Mount on the bench? So many questions.

Spot on Sean. Utd looked very good until the red. Both pens ridiculous but at least consistent in their awarding. That seems to be the deal now with handball in the CL.

Of course he’s in trouble Adlab. You can’t lose that many games and not be under pressure. Do I think he’s under any immediate threat of being sacked? No I don’t. There’s no immediate, obvious replacement out there, firstly. Secondly, we’re in the process of a new minority shareholder coming in who will be given complete sporting control. He might have his own ideas so it’s pointless acting now until they come in.
If things continue to follow this trend for a few more weeks, the club may be left with no choice but to act to halt the decline. I don’t think we’re quite there yet though.

It’s just what we’ve come to expect now at Utd. The red changed the game but we should have had enough anyway to see it out from that point

Utd were playing pretty well for once up until the red but it’s just been far too chaotic since then. Copenhagen very fortunate with decisions going their way all night.

Even Carra thinks it’s a joke 😄
No way is that a red card for Rashford!
Hate these slow motion replays & still images that make everything look 10 times worse. #Champions_League #COPMUN— Jamie Carragher (@Carra23) November 8, 2023

Even Wrighty thinks it wasn’t a red 😄
No chance that's a red for Rashford.

Another joke of a VAR decision handing Rashford a red. Looked painful for the opponent but Rashford is looking the other way entirely. Absolutely no intention or malice in that.

7th November 2023 at 9:09 am in reply to: Weekend Football – Gameweek 11 Sparklers and Fireworks :-) #210665Mikus, I’d have Ange down as more of a Bielsa than a Rodgers. One of those managers who play nice football and, for some reason, have a bit of a cult following but are prone to getting absolutely torn apart at times. Agree about the ref. Thought he did a decent job considering everything. Chelsea were getting in behind way before the reds started coming.
Jackson celebrating probably the worst ever hattrick with a Ronaldo celebration was a bit cringey too 😂

Oh 100% I don’t think there’s an agenda against Utd Threeps. No doubt we’ll get our share of decisions.

The problem with the likes of the Wolves decision Threeps (which was 100% the wrong decision and we were fortunate), is that it was an anomaly but people see that and see that it’s Utd and assume it happens all the time. What irks Utd fans though is that Wolves decision was discussed all week on Sky Sports, Talksport etc with everyone being outraged. When we don’t get decsisions, it’s just not given any airtime. The lack of talk around the non-penalty at Spurs a great example.

Utd seem cursed by VAR lately.
Arsenal, Liverpool, City, Chelsea, Newcastle have all had at least as many pens so far this season as Utd have had all of last season and this season combined.

6th November 2023 at 7:21 am in reply to: Weekend Football – Gameweek 11 Sparklers and Fireworks :-) #210611Yeah Liverpool will be fine Sean. I said it all through that difficult period you had and I haven’t changed my mind. Even Nunez will be fine. Liverpool create enough chances for his finishing to not need to be great. Top 4 should be no problem with that team. Easily the second best squad in the league and you’ll probably finish second.

5th November 2023 at 7:00 pm in reply to: Weekend Football – Gameweek 11 Sparklers and Fireworks :-) #210594Nunez could have a reel of misses which would probably be unrivalled in world football. I think he’s overtaken Timo Werner in that respect. He must be such a frustrating player to have on your team.
This weekend has just confirmed to us all that City are just a class above any other side. There’s City then a group of 3 or 4 teams who are decent but far too inconsistent.

See, City, you’re nothing special 😄. Just a shambles now. Used to get annoyed but just expecting it now.

Spot on Sean. Those Ajax comments are ridiculous. So many questions which should be asked of him. Why force out De Gea and bring in a ball-playing keeper if he doesn’t want to play out from the back? As you say, absolutely bizarre to suggest he doesn’t have the players when he’s bought almost solely from the Eredivisie and, often, directly from Ajax.
