How do City keep getting these soft penalties?!

CM, yeah don’t disagree with that.
Sean, no worries mate π I knew you weren’t being serious. Completely agree on the last paragraph

You and that injuries point Sean from about 4 years ago π . It’s only a personal gripe of mine that big teams use injuries as an excuse when they have so much bigger budgets than the other teams.
Yeah, as you say, big over reaction from the first 10 games for Liverpool. Similarly a big over reaction from last season where fans were calling for Klopp’s head. Liverpool are decent enough at the moment and should get top 4 as most predicted but no chance of chasing City.

At United, Ten Hag doesnβt have that luxury. You look at that side yesterday, how many players were his. 6 players were bought by the previous 3 manager. All 3 played a different brand of football to 1 another.
The big problem with this theory CM is that he doesn’t even play the players he bought. He hasn’t had it easy with injuries but that shouldn’t excuse some of the rubbish we’ve served up this season. As I’ve said before, if the likes of Martinez are so pivotal to how we play (which he is) then it’s up to him to ensure we have a contingency plan in place.

Yeah I think his transfer dealings will ultimately be his undoing Threeps.
Agree with you on the manager just sometimes being the right fit rather than there being a magic equation.
Thoughts on today’s games anyone? Liverpool should have too much for Brentford and surely City will be too good for this Chelsea side? Brighton and Villa should win easily.

I get where you’re coming from Mikus but have to disagree on the point that we’d be any better with any of those 3 in place currently albeit we’ll never know.
Agree fully re Mourinho though. He was my choice to take over from Ferguson and, like you, I think he’d have been a perfect choice back then.
Maverick, yeah massively anti Spurs, me π

Fair enough Nil π. Yeah, who knows. I think City will be too hard for any of us to catch for a good few years yet

As for Klopp, he was clearly a charismatic figure and great communicator who was bound to be successful here.
That’s kind of my point. He ticked that box but not all the others.
Ancelotti was very average at Napoli and didn’t set the world alight at Everton. Tuchel was sacked by Chelsea and is under pressure managing the only good side in a one team league. Enrique is doing OK but far from a dead cert to win the league title in another one team league with Nice breathing down his neck. All managers we should feel aggrieved to have missed out on. A year ago we were stupid for “missing out” on Conte who, incidentally, can’t get a job now. So, no, I’m not that fussed that we missed the boat on any of those 3 to be honest.

I know we’ve gone round and round with these manager debates Mikus but I just don’t think it’s as simple as you make out. Was Klopp any more used to managing big players than Ten Hag before he came to Liverpool? Far from it. Dare I say, Ange? Not him either. Pep is the only one really who was used to managing big name players.
Someone said Ancelotti the other day. He’s managing Real Madrid. Do people really expect us to go out and get Ancelotti? I’ve yet to hear another good suggestion for the fix to Utd’s problems that everyone seems to have. The checklist seems to be
– Charismatic
– Worked with big clubs
– Worked with big name players
– Won lots of trophies
– A good tactical mindThe only name I can come up with is Mourinho π. The point being, by all means point to other managers who excel in one of those but there’s absolutely nobody out there who is attainable and who ticks all the boxes. You simply have to make sacrifices and decide on priorities.

Oh I don’t disagree with you re this season Harry. We’ve been awful. As or Anfield last season, that was equally bad but definitely an anomaly from an otherwise good first season in my opinion.
Yeah if you haven’t even watched us this season aside from the first game,I understand the luck comment but you’re way off since then. We’ve had awful luck with VAR decisions since then.

We conceded less than Liverpool and the same as Arsenal last season Mikus. Obviously you can always improve on that but the problem last season wasn’t conceding too many across the season. It was the lack of goals.
I’m quite resigned now to the fact Ten Hag won’t be around for much longer. The standards at a club like Utd should be so high that a lack of progress is deemed to be not good enough. Unless he turns things around, not only results wise but performances too, he’ll be gone I’m sure. The question, as always, is who to bring in. Without an obvious candidate and while ever we continue to pick up points as we’re doing, there’s no real urgency at present to change anything.

The last line is a bit of a funny one though, about luck. Where’s this luck you speak about? We’ve had awful luck this season.

As always Harry, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I really enjoyed watching us last season. Had some great performances, especially at home, beating Arsenal, Liverpool, Spurs, City. The two games against Barcelona were very good. One cup win, another final. Not sure how much you watched us to be honest. I mean, especially if it was that bad π. We’ve been awful this season though, granted.

I’m always calling Liverpool and City out Ally π. I’m forever having debates with Adlab about City and Utd.
No idea who’s rattled your cage but I noticed you didn’t take kindly to Steveo having a go either earlier in the week. I think we all have a go at each other’s clubs here and most take it well. It’s unfortunate that you’re not able to do the same. I’d consider the name change but the last thing I want to do at the moment is talk about the mess that is my club.
“The genius that is Ange” was a pop at the media, who have been hyping up that shit show against Chelsea. Unless you’ve been calling him a genius too, in which case it’s aimed at you too π. I’m pretty sure you haven’t though.
have a shit season Ed
Thanks mate. So far so good on that front!

Ppt, Rooney has been poor in management so far. Will never understand why owners keep thinking top players make top managers. Rooney will no doubt join Gerrard, Lampard, Kompany, Keane any many others in the “Great player, awful manager” pile.

Besides Ally, not sure I’ve ever once had a pop at Ange, more the media for this notion that he’s this messiah figure. The amount of hyping up he got for his suicide tactics against Chelsea was very odd, in my opinion.

No, quite happy to have anyone take a pop Ally. Not sure where you got the idea I was neutral either π. Come on, Ally, this media love in for Ange has been a bit silly. I’m sure you even said as much previously.
As for my lot, yeah we’ve been terrible. No worries about anyone having a pop at our lot. I’ll happily join in! A shame to see you took it personally.
Yeah Sean,it’s not been a tough run, aside from the City game. Not something to brag about, just more surprising than anything.

How is this possible?! π. It is odd that Utd are above high-flying Newcastle and only 5 points behind the genius that is Ange π
Man Utd are the most in-form team in the Premier League! π€―

Alfie, there were numerous reports about Sancho being bad with timekeeping while at Dortmund. He was sent to train with the reserves in his first season for continuing to turn up late.
I missed the last handball Alfie. I’ll check it out. But, if that’s the case, it just adds to a shambolic performance from the ref. The offside for their goal looked pretty blatant too and wasn’t even looked at.
