I could see Poch coming back to Spurs Chucky. The only thing would be if he’s really into the idea of leading the US into the World Cup over there next year. Beyond that, he’s definitely still got a career in European club football. I don’t think he did his reputation much harm at Chelsea despite getting the sack. They’ve not really pushed on since he left and he seemed to be making progress before leaving.

LFC flatlined throughout most of the last 4 performances, you said yesterday due to “attitude” I say because they were running on empty..
Yeah fair enough Mikey. All about opinions

Well it’s not like the alternative to my “opinion” is anything backed up by numbers. The alternative to my opinion is your opinion. You may well have faced a better side than the one we did. Or you may not. The league table at the same point suggests there’s little to support that opinion. Why you’re comparing the difficulty of your final to our final is anyone’s guess though.
Newcastle have a goal difference of 9 this season and have lost 9. Their goal difference then was 26 and they’d lost 3. It’s very difficult to argue they’re definitely a better side this season than they were that one, if indeed that is what you’re saying. Again, not really sure the point you’re making though or why that’s such an important one for you.
Ask the Newcastle fans rather than a Man U fan and I think they would say different, with present midfield, forward options and Pope between the sticks but your welcome to your opinion Ed…

Compared to their team in the final 2 years ago they now have a brilliant powerful team who can beat most of Europes best in a one off match…and didn’t have a last minute 3rd choice keeper who hadn’t played a competitive EPL standard match for over 2 years between the sticks…
All well and good saying they’re a better team now Mikey but they’re really not. They were better off in the league this time that season. They’ve lost three times as many PL games as they did at this point that season. As for the keeper thing, you had one shot on target in the 90mins. I don’t think it would have made a jot of difference if they had an academy player in goal in that regard. Newcastle were simply much better than Liverpool on the day and fully deserved the win.

It’s also been a very uneventful season in general, for me. My own team have been awful. There’s been no title race. No relegation dogfight. Hardly any exciting CL matches. There’s just been very little to write about, thinking about it. Even the January window was a pretty quiet one all around.

Not had much to write about my team as we’ve been so shite Threeps 😅. Also after all the talk in the media about a Liverpool treble, it has indeed given me some joy in an otherwise very forgettable season for my own team.

Bruno can’t put a foot wrong at the moment Nil. Has to be one of the best in the league on current form. Don’t know where we’d be without him

Yeah the league is wrapped up now Nil so should have plenty of time to find some form now. Very strange performance today from your lot though. Not wanting it enough in a final is inexcusable.

This is pathetic so far from Liverpool. 1 shot on target when you’re 2-0 down in a cup final? Fully expecting an onslaught for thr last half an hour but this is really poor. Wouldn’t be at all surprised to see it go to extra time still though

I hear a lot of Utd fans contenting themselves with the narrative that Liverpool are benefitting from a one off failure of ALL the competing clubs and this is a unique event compared to all the seasons preceding against teams with smaller squads, devastating injuries and youth team players filling their benches..
This is definitely not only Utd fans saying this Mikey. I’ve been hearing this a lot. In fairness, a lot of fans said the same when Leicester won it. Did they care when they lifted the title? Of course not. A title is a title. Nobody remembers how strong the competition was a few years down the line. In fact, people were saying the exact same thing when Mourinho took a poor Utd to a 2nd placed finish. “You’re only there because everyone else is having an off season”. Looking back, there’s probably a lot of truth in that. Similarly when Ole came 2nd with us. We took advantage of everyone else being pretty rubbish all at once. No shame in that.

10th March 2025 at 11:56 am in reply to: Gameweek 28 – Weekend Football – All Plain Sailing? #218839Yeah you’re probably right Sean. Whether temporary or longer term, those sides are all massively off it. As I say, you have to give credit to Liverpool for taking advantage of that. That’s all you can do. You’d expect City to be back next year unless they’re booted out. Chelsea surely will have to improve with their quality. It’s hard to see that Utd won’t improve in some way. Spurs, who knows.

Everyone is way off all at once. Full credit to Liverpool for taking advantage of that. Arsenal should have been all over this title but they’re the biggest bottlers around.

10th March 2025 at 10:58 am in reply to: Gameweek 28 – Weekend Football – All Plain Sailing? #218833I’m not sure we’re talking about the same thing Sean as you’re talking about how much clubs have spent. That has nothing to do with where that at quality wise. This has to be the worst any of the top sides have been for a long time, Liverpool aside. That they’ve spent money is beside the point. It just means they’ve spent badly. A side like Forest gets nowhere near the top 4 in the last 20 or so seasons. It’s not Liverpool’s fault l. They’ve been the only consistent side. Just as Leicester were the only consistent side when they won it. It wasn’t their fault either that so many sides were off it at once. Put it this way, does anyone think the usual top sides will all be THIS bad next season? I’m not sure many would say yes.

How on earth are this Arsenal team the second best team the league has to offer? This has to be the worst season quality wise in the PL for as long as I can remember. Very reminiscent of the Leicester winning season when every one of the usual challengers had an off season at the same time. I saw something the other day about the quality of the league where someone asked if any of the top teams would beat their team from 5 or even 10 years ago. I’m honestly not sure any of them would.

The minute Ange came out with his arsey and cocky response to a reporter with his “I always win things in my second season mate” his fate was sealed for me. You might get away with that in Australia, mate, but if you’re that cocky in the PL, you’d better back it up. Another manager who believed his own hype from having achieved something in much inferior leagues.

Genuinely wish Rashford all the best at Villa. Gutted it didn’t work out for him at Utd for longer than it did. He became far too comfortable at the club and laziness started creeping into his game over the years. I’m convinced that a change of environment will show us the player he can be. Right decision by the club but also the right thing for him as a player imo.

I reckon you’ll have a blip Sean but there’s just nobody good enough to take advantage. Are we really relying on Nottingham Forest if we’re to be hopeful of a title race this season?! Arsenal are nowhere near where they ought to be considering their previous trajectory under Arteta.

Expecting a bus to be well and truly parked by Jose Arteta at the Emirates. Wouldn’t be surprised to see a City win, all but ending any chance of a title race this season.
