Agree with what everyones saying. Imagine following a team battling relegation. I rarely see any of their fans wanting the team to lose in order to get relegated because the manager is not delivering, just because there is a likely chance of him getting the sack. Some fans have just been spoiled with success and that is all they know. Why bother watching or supporting a side if you want them to lose.

Agree. It is most definitely sides who have fans that have witnessed their team accomplish sustained success.
I am not sure if it is fans under 30 though. There were a fair few Uniteds who have apparently been following the club for decades before SAF arrive and still wanted their side to lose if it meant the end of LVG. Same with Arsenal, watching Arsenal fan TV and listening to phone ins at times, some Arsenal fans claim they have followed the side sice the 60s and 70s wanting the team to lose in order to push Wenger out.

Well said Alfie.
Pagan-
So United will have to sell at least 10m shirts with Pogba’s name on it in order to get the money back if the 10-15% agreement is true. How realistic is that target considering they sold just over 2m in 18 months, along with players like Sanchez joining the club.
I have never seen a club official come out and say we have recouped the transfer fee by selling x amount of shirts.
People have come out and said it is 1 of the biggest myths in football, you obviously think otherwise. You’re entitled to your opinion.

Would 15% cover the transfer fee and would the club make the money back from the transfer fee? That is the myth some fans are led to believe is true.
United sold just over 2m Shirts with Pogba’s name on it. United made 21m from them sales if 15% is accurate. How far is that from 89m.
The myth is fans saying selling shirts pays for transfer fees, when it is further from the truth. The only company that truly benefits high number of shirt sales is Adidas or any other kit manufacturer, not the club, a misconception made by fans. Only gods know how who kit manufacturers tells a club to buy has got to do with this.

I think you’re missing the point. Paying a club x amount a year for a sponsorship deal is different to fans saying the club will recoup the money from shirt sales after spending an atrocious amount. There is a difference between how much a club makes from a sponsorship deal to how much they make from selling shirts.
The Law goal is not half a myth because it does not say what may have happened if he stayed and has nothing to do with that, the myth has nothing to do with that. It is about if his goal that he scored that day sent United down, which it didn’t, that is the myth.
What may have happened if Law did not join City, stayed or moved to someone else other than City is a whole different debate.

Shirt sales bring very little income for clubs when fans claim such such shirt sales means the club will make up for the fee. For example United sold 2m shirts with Pogba on the back, United only get a small percentage of that. You’re right if a club sells more shirts then the more sponsor money they will get next time round. Using the Pogba example, 2m shirts were sold with his name on the back, that is roughly 140m, the club only gets 14m from that, Adidas get the rest. 14m does not obviously repay the 90m transfer fee.
In regards to Denis Law, it has nothing to do with how much he helped City. It is to do with the goal he scored against United on the final day of the season not relegating them. United were relegated regardless of the result on that day.

My prediction-
Liverpool will get an early goal. They will sit back, whilst that opens up United play. Then hit United on the counter whenever possible.
Uniteds back 4 is all over the place, whilst Liverpools front 3 are hitting form. If a Palace side that had a make shift back 4 and a make shift midfield score 2 goals and possible more if Benteke took his chances, then Liverpool will be all over United. Last 5 games, Liverpool have only conceded 1, whilst United have conceded 4, only keeping 1 clean sheet.

6th March 2018 at 10:52 pm in reply to: Week 29 footy (Including predictions- Ars v Man C Included) #17396Same can be said about Palace’s goals too. Townsend should have been closed down and the defenders should have been positioned better. The United defenders should have been more alert when Palace took a quick free kick for the 2nd.

Just a heads up. Went on to the site and it redirected me to the following page.
Obviously it is fake. A website like that should not be directing to a malware site. Shows the security flaws.

Fair dos 442. Could Chelsea have gone against the agreement with Roma, it initially was a 1 year loan. Saying that, Salah said it himself he was not ready for the PL at the time. Bringing back Drogba was unusual by Jose considering he had Rom, but at the same time he just signed Costa. Jose has 2 young players in Lukaku and De Bruyne who wanted to play. With Willian and Hazard already at the club, it was always going to be a struggle for De Bruyne. Musonda is another quality winger at Chelsea and he is suffering the same fate as De Bruyne, although recently signing a new contract. The way some teams operate now, they seem to focus on other teams youngsters rather than give their own a opportunity. Spurs and 1 or 2 others being an exception.

Did Jose let Salah go? He left Chelsea after Jose left. The way he played for Chelsea, no one ever thought he would return the player he is. These things happen in football. Bayern let Hummels go and later on decided to resign him. De Bruyne was not ready for the 1st team at the time, rather than knuckle down and prove the manager, he kicked up a fuss and the club decided to loan him out.

City are also known for that too. Rumor has it that the ex Barcelona lot at your club were in talks with Pep in regards to approval of signings during Pellegrini final few years at the club. Bayern wanted De Bruyne and were prepared to pay big for him, all of sudden he choose’s City, who was managing Bayern at the time? Football can be a bit cynical at times.

Paxton-
The main issue with Chelsea is they have developed a culture at the club where the manager has little say in transfers. Pep gave a list of players to the board and they got him the players he wanted. Conte gave a list, they opted to ignore the list and opt for alternatives. If they went for his 1st choice players, then I am sure we will be witnessing a different Chelsea side this season. Conte said it himself, rather than buy a bulk of various different players, he wanted 3 or 4 quality players, but the board chose to ignore that.

I believe this whole debate about spending well is consistency in players. Chelsea last season were the flavor of the season. People were talking about how David Luiz returned as a improved player, how Alonso was a brilliant wing back and a snip at 20m+, how Kante was missing piece in the jigsaw etc. Last season, Stones was a flop, Sterling is not consistent enough, Sane was not ready and inconsistent, Fernandinho was past his best and overrated, along with Peps forgotten signings in Bravo and Nolito.
What Pep did during the back end of last season was try various different systems in order to see what brings out the best for his players, similar to Conte when he changed the system midway during the Arsenal game. Out of the 2 Pep always had the better squad, it just took him a while to adjust.

IMO Martin Glenn made a poor choice of words rather than a true comparison. He was just saying he did not want any religious symbols, far right extremist symbols etc on a shirt. Football brings many people from various different faiths and backgrounds together, you do not need to promote one culture or religion etc because you are there for one reason and that is to see your side do well.
