Adlab…be careful how you describe players. The City players did not understand the new formation in the first half and we had nobody to knit it together. That changed in the second half. We need to be better for Tuesday though

A very disjointed first half, probably due to the unusual set up and players Pep put out but good improvement in the second half. Another clean sheet, I think that is more than last season now. I am expecting KDB, Zinchenko to be back in place of Mendy for Tuesday Augerro on bench again. Mahrez back for Torres. Gundogan back.

Nine…just to add, teams in older generations did not have the mobility of modern teams so the art of the schemer was important for the era, not quiet the same to day but nevertheless the Silvas etc would have run riot in bygone days if they could avoid the tackles!!!

Nine, always liked what I called a “schemer” from way back. City have had some really good ones, not always playing with the best team but I do rate Gungdoghan up amongst them. City had Broadis, Hannah, Black, they had a style of play. Utd had Johnny Morris, Henry Cockburn then there was Raich Carter Wilf Manion, Frank Soo, Willie Hall and Eric Thornton.etc etc..all worth the entrance fee to watch what they could do with the ball. They would fit into any modern day team, different to strikers and wingers but a team would always try and stop them playing first.

I think we have a very tough game at Fulham, when I have seen them on TV they looked a good team to me even when they lost a game. I expect Augerro to start and Stones and Laporte to be the CBs, rest Dias for midweek. Sterling will be back and Mahrez rested…then..what do I know??? You have to be good to predict a Pep team

Just to illustrate the point. I watched City v Birmingham youth teams in action to night and it was a credit to both teams and officials
Yes taclkes went in, no play acting, just get on with the game, no arguments with Ref although I thought some decisions, not many, a little harsh against both teams. The game was really entertaining, only stopping for team changes….I then thought…this was how it used to be, just a pity that these lads will be sucked into the pantomime game as we have it now
Ialso noted 3/4 City lads we will see in the first team in 2/3 years. Delap I was dissapointed with to night, although he scored 2 goals he should have played better considering has trained with the first team and even played a cameo part, passing poor and just did not do enough for the team. I think he needs to be out on loan and gets some hard experience his potential is there but even at young age he should be more of a threat in this league_____________________________

Cityboy…agree, have no idea how they get us to be favourites, we are capable but I do not think we will do it. A very fit and sharp Augerro would have made the difference but we no longer have that

Pagan…that just about sums it up. As the game stands now it is pathetic in its management of any game.I can only see it getting worse and eventually fans will loose interest. It also makes a divide, more fans will buy a TV subscription than go for the inflated costs of going to a game and that is what the FA and Tv want I think. as to VAR, I have previously given my view that you cannot have technology ruled by humans. the same humans cannot even get the sensible rules right. The game is gradually being set up for cheating and match fixing….just look who is calling the shots now. I am in despair for the game I love

Cityboy…must admit I thought it unusual but I did expect to see Fernandino back. Good game to night, think Southampton watch the game at week end when Utd came out of blocks quicker, they did the same but we got through this one. Fulham on Saturday will be no easier either, at least we have got some goals again.

My gut feel at this stage is City, Utd, Chelsea and Spurs in no particular order. City have a big say since we have to play Chelsea, Spurs West Ham and Leicester. a tasty finish

PS.. I would like to see Delap and Tommy Doyle go on loan to somewhere like Preston, Burnley think both teams would be OK for them and they stand a better chance of gametime. Preston because they could use them and Burnley they could rotate there squad more. However preston and Burnley would have another view!!!

Ed..it is true, about Academy players. There should be a path and there is at City, however, they have to be found and brought in as and when ready. We will always loose a higher proportion, due to lack of playing time but that is the nature of the Academy system and while there are finances available to buy an established player. Other clubs will benefit from this without a doubt, but in general i would say City will just make the best of what they have. Garcia, I thought would have been a winner but it is no use keeping a player that wants to go home. Sancho…time will tell depends where he goes next. Delap may go, Tosin doing a grand job at Fulham. I am sure it will all be carefully managed but mistakes will always happen no matter who.

For the good of Scottish football both Rangers and Celtic should start with 25 its less at the start of the season to make a decent competition, then again I am not interested in Scottish football

Adlab…Historicaly right but the game has moved on and I think it is no longer the case except in Scotland…that will never change but following has changed here. I always remember my old teacher was an EX Irish City player and bussy of Matt Busby….think they may have played together in the City team pre war, he never had a word for City, I was the only one in the class that supported City…. I was never a teachers pet!!!!! haha

Cityboy….the only thing missing to day was a striker and Foden and Bernado should have started. Previous games neither Sterling or Mahrez haven’t played well enough against Utd and it was the same again to day
Game over, move on to Wednesday and Southampton who are just above drop zone so expect more of the same. I think they are a decent side as well_____________________________

I think we beat ourselves to day, just not clinical enough. Have to give some credit to Ollie as well, he set out his plan and it worked to day. I thought Pep should have started with Foden and Bernardo, Sterling and Mahrez did not perform. KDB still a little under his best but at least he tried. Southampton on Wednesday will be an important bounce back game. On the whole I thought we played OK except for the finishing. Cannot complain about the early penalty either. We move on….next game
