Chuky, my view of the Mendy incident was the ball was there to be won and the attacker had quicker intentions than the keeper. This opens up a whole set of new potential rules on incidents like this and it is then down to interpretation off the pitch by suits. I said at the very outset of Var, this is one step from corruption. Nothing wrong with VAR but it is governed by humans and that is where the problem will continue to grow. Of course , they will continue to change rules etc…for what? Just leave it as goal line technology and let the players and officials get on with the job.

Maybe so City boy but you have to give some credit to Villa.. Alvarez would have been more direct and I believe that was required for this game. Haaland is a big bonus up top but ww have to remember others can score as well…as been proved over the years!!

Villa deserved there point for the defensive display. City could not find a way through and our finishing a bit off. Two points dropped however you look at it. I would have swopped either Gungdogan or Bernardo for Alvarez though, just not there type of game The mighty Spurs next I think Chuky

Nil…fans like us will never understand the running of a football club. I often think if you take any match and have 20/30/49/50K fans there and ask them to pick a team they will all have different teams!!!

Master class performance to night. Great to see three youngsters brought on as well. Comments appearing on how Haaland would do against top CBs, well I think you could also say , how well would they do against him…it is not so much the 1 to 1 because it ishis movement, Kane also has this ability.I felt for Forrest to night though, it cannot be easy and then watching KDB and Mahrez come off the bench. I was also impressed with Alvarez again, great worker and scores

30th August 2022 at 4:08 pm in reply to: Game Week 4 – Will The Real Manc Shady Please Stand-Up, Please Stand-Up…. #198384Threes, Respect your view a lot, I may disagree with some parts but it all amounts to personal opinions about many issues that affect the game.Yes, I have a fondness for the “old game” but not everything was Rosey, I would not like to go back to some parts of it and football in that sense has improved its lot. The human rights issues of owners I have addressed before, we, as a country are no shining beacon and still held to account for events that happened many moons ago. I also believe given similar owners most fans would conveniently forget these things but some also would have a genuine principled stand and who could argue with them but I also believe they would be a minority. The extension to this principled argument is also, does it apply when you fill your car with petrol, does it apply to the aircraft industry, does it apply to Polyester production etc etc. Football is an easy target.Nobody wants to see the bad effects of human rights treatments but as history tells us it will on change with time, although I am also believe it will be continuance of human nature to go to war with each other and treat humans badly, that is happening right now
I think the subject we are discussing is extensive and football ownership just clouds the issue of where in the world is sanity Now, with a smile on my face….City have been doing well, they have uplifted the standard of football and that cannot be a bad thing….can it? City will not dominate the league over the period like in Germany/France. City are beatable and I honestly do not think we will win the league this year…I have my reasons for this.I do hope we win the FA Cup, the CL league. I do not care about but understand the Club and players will want it, but for me, it is not the pinnacle, the EPL is….again my opinion which I know most will disagree with but we are all entitled to that, so there you have it from a No.1 fan. City third!!!!! I will not run naked around the Etihad though as Nine would if they win it again!!!!!!! Enjoy the game not the politics. It was said by somebody..If things get better with age then I am approaching Magnificent!!!_____________________________

29th August 2022 at 8:38 pm in reply to: Game Week 4 – Will The Real Manc Shady Please Stand-Up, Please Stand-Up…. #198365OK. Nine…I still make my point….if you are going to make comparisons then logically you have to go back to the year DOT. There is a limit to City spend, I would also disagree with my City friend, pointless bringing up comparisons like this. As I have said before, Utd will always find a way to fund whatever they want. good luck to them. but to keep harping on about City wealth serves no purpose either. In various era’s of football since I have been following the game there has always been clubs that have considerable wealth more than others but the game evolves and these thing do not last forever, next we will have clubs with owners paying 100 million for 16/7 yr olds
I have said before City have been extremely lucky in getting these owners who are doing more than just build a football club for the City of Manchester, other clubs will follow. Then I wonder why all the wealthy clubs of years ago did not plan better, mostly because they were seduced into buying players at high costs to charm there ego….I remember city signing a Wolves player for a Million, Rodney Marsh who costs us the league. etc. It is noticeable as well that the majority of EPL clubs are owned byInvestments from outside the country, where have all our wealthy people gone? Probably had a reality check in investing in football!! All points of view Nine, not saying I am right, just what I think_____________________________

29th August 2022 at 5:24 pm in reply to: Game Week 4 – Will The Real Manc Shady Please Stand-Up, Please Stand-Up…. #198355Nine…very selective time span…why not go for 10 or 15 or 20 whatever I understand Utd wanting to spend, they have to improve and I think they will, at a cost, just like City. I would like to see a cap on the lot but there will always be ways around Caps

Nine..what Pep actually said was he would leave if the players did not believe in him, results did not come into it because in his mind, he sees a game, makes a plan, picks a team and they should follow the plan. Of course he gets it wrong sometimes but the players are there to carry out his plan, no room for those who do not. He will eventually leave City and we have a task of replacing him then but in my mind this will already be known and steps taken for his successor. At the moment , according to Pep he is happy and sees no reason to move unless the club wants a change, If City go on a loosing run there will be a reason for it and that could be decision time. However, looking at the current squad and the U 21/18s coming though, future looks bright…We may get 3rd spot this year and get to the Semi in CL, Hopefully win the FA Cup because I love it. All good fun

Nine…all I am saying is that how I would like to see it…results or not as long as some progress was being made and that is hard to define in the modern jungle
Did you watch the U21s last week?? Some good youngster coming through

Mikus, agree with what you say but there has to be a learning curve, I would put that down 3-5 years at one club. 3 maybe for someone with experience. e.g. Rodgers 5 for inexperienced like Arteta, Lampard and Gerrard….the latter I discount his experience up north. However, , it has to start right with the owners and manager committed, not all will be winners that is for sure but it appears to me that the clubs that struggle do not have a focused plan, just buying players is not an answer

Nil…you disappoint me…only 10!!!! Forrest have a busy style which City always find difficult to play against, yes I am expecting a win…maybe 3-1 but then again you know how useless I am at predictions so we loose 1-0

Nil, what City do have is fluency Rodri, KDB, Gungdogan, Bernado are the ones that give the team that, the others just have to respond. When it works, its magic but it does sometimes misfire

The crammed fixtures list will now start to take its toll. This will be a crazy season and will upset all the odds. I cannot see any good from the World Cup, I will be wanting it over before it begins and for us to get back to our domestic programme…better than WC in my opinion

We need to give our young Managers more credit and support them when times are tough. They are relatively new to the job although I suppose Rodgers has experience now. The media do not help with there inflamotary headlines and pre judge to easily. They forget, players are responsible also

29th August 2022 at 11:29 am in reply to: Game Week 4 – Will The Real Manc Shady Please Stand-Up, Please Stand-Up…. #198337Maybe optimistic that Nil, as the season wears on Parking the bus will become the status again when point are more important but I do welcome the new found confidence of teams outside the top 4 to take the game on the attack as the first principle. Good luck to them

3 points required and that is what we got….but we need to focus better at the back. We have not had a settled back line this season yet but they should be doing better than they are.Pleased Haaland put in a good performance, hopefully it will encourage him.Good to see Alvarez and Gomez on pitch as well
