Sean…the handball rule is stupid, the number of times you see a player kick at an opponents hand or with such force he cannot possibly get out of the way. I am amazed the “elf and saftey” people have not been in saying players must have the right to defend themselves from injury

The crazy world we live in now

Alfie…a sad state of affairs but true. I also think players themselves must take part of the blame, Refs will always make a mistake, is the game too fast for them now??? I do not know but you rarely see a Ref that is a commanding, no nonsense person these days. To help Refs I would also ban mass player protest, only one person should approach a Ref and that is the captain the rest at least 20 yds away.

Nine….I guess they are in it in some way. I fail to see the significance of FFP since one way or another all clubs will find a way, no matter how large or small. Football is the investor target now, how much money will the new Chinese owner of Wigan put in, more than City???? How much more will teams borrow based on large income streams from sponsors….what I am trying to say is the game has changed and UEFA and Fifa sat on there pedestals thinking they would not be challenged. If the source is corrupt how can they possibly apply sanctions, no doubt they will and have to live with the future consequences themselves. I go back to an earlier remark I made as well, The Champion league should be for Champions not runners up,3/4/5/6th.

Nine…I admit I was sucked into a press article, maybe the Mail which suggested Uefa wants to ban us. I should have taken it with a pinch of salt but then again these guys are never going to make sense as far as city go and others. The rules are stupid anyhow, football is a business now first and foremost, I regret that but it is fact, on the plus side, the game is better than when I first started watching in 1944 from a fans and player point of view. The other point in all this is somebody has gone to a lot of trouble to get all these so called facts, maybe illegal as well and I guess the lawyers will work on that in the early stages…it will drag on but hopefully will not unsettle City

Mikus, you may well be right and this is another reason why the hypocites in UEFA are chaseing City again. Our new Management, years ago, with other clubs started to rattle the cosy club they created now they are issueing threats, which to me, shows just how much they are rattled. The one thing they forgot, they may have stewardship of an organised competition, they do not OWN the game of football and this is why there are a number of clubs talking about leaving there domain…Sacre Bleu!!!!! Football is crying out for a Major reconstruction

Chuky..that is a good point…how well would squads stand up to global football, however, it happens. This is why I have always believed the CL is fast loseing its status, most of the teams are not even Champions, so why did they not just have a knock out for the Champions of the season from each country….tnot enough gravy for UEFA. I think the Global game is coming fast now, personaly, it does not excite me and I would still support our home game but life goes on and changes will be made. To have squads to accomodate the fixture list and travel it needs more than a bagful of cash. Football is nearing a year round game now and I do not think that is good for the game. Of course, fans will have to pay up as well for extra games and there is another problem, for many it will become unaffordable to go and watch. Cannot see many fans going to Tokyo/Beijing/Delhi/New York on a regular basis

Uefa lost credibility years ago. I do believe a breakaway will happen and global leagues and cups will follow. It is a logical step for media companies. Uefa and CL effectively looses its crown through its own stupidity and greed

Paxton…I guess it is one of those β€œwhat if” question that has no answer to it, we fans like to dream up these points I have been guilty myself in the past and I try and keep to reality now. History, I forget player / team comparison I can never understand. The one thing I sometimes think about is if a player like say Kane,or Augerro or Hazard would be any better in another team or you could say. What player would you like to see in your current team that would make a difference. All interesting stuff Paxton, like your post

paxton….the answer to your point about squad difference and injuries, well, you should have invested in players to strengthen your squad in the summer. Our problem, if it was one, is makeing sure the changes are effective to keep the pattern of play the same, but Pep is better at it than I am so I will leave it to him!!!!

I was at the City match to day, difficult to pick a man of the match but Augerro’s work was impressive. Despite the score, and it could have been more, Southampton really tried and you have to give them credit for that but were overwhelmed by city as a team, they just did not know where the next threat was coming from. City are beginning to settle and pleased youngsters beginning to get game time

Adlab..agree..Lamella miss was bad, particularly late in the game, however Silva, Augerro and Sterling should each have netted with there chances. A deserved win even if it was scrappy, I would like to see plenty of changes for Fulham game and our strongest team for Southampton

Nine, like you, looking forward to a good game of football. The pitch not suitable for PL games but it is the same for both teams so no excuses before it starts. Augerro will be looking for goals that is for sure but I think KDB, Silva and Fernandinho will be the key players

Chuky, I see enough young, next generation players coming through that would say, yes, we have a great future. I also see UK clubs having to give youngsters more of a chance to develop in the right way. The only problem I see is our youngsters may well be cash driven and become spoilt. This is less likely to happen in other parts of the world. I would like to be wrong with this view but when you see youngsters with just an odd game experience and others with none and the salaries they pull in I can only see them going downhill faster than uphill. A handful only will make it. If you look at our current team and considering the shortage of really top class players amongst them it is depressing. Maybe and hopefully in 5 years things may change. The Spanish match showed me an excellent work ethic but lacked class in Goal, creativivity and a natural leader. I know….I am hard to please…but if we want to be a consistently top team we have to do better, after all 1966 was a wonderful one season happening and nothing since. I am ready to be torn apart now but it is just my opinion

The result is what matters, however, like you, I think these Competitions are made for “the suits” to keep them in a job and free lunches at fans expense

Think Southgate got everything just about right on the night, well done to all
