Mikus…if that were so….I think he would say it was another challenge to adapt. pep has consistently said from day he would like certain players but not at silly prices, even once said , we cannot afford hi but was given his Birthday cake!!!! I understand what you are saying though

Strange, I think, City have been lambasted for the last two seasons for not having a “striker”. now we have one, it is said he will not fit or does not do the defensive bit. The latter comment I also find odd because the last 2/3 times I have watched Haaland he was doing some very good defensive work, however, we shall see how it all transpires. The only uncertainty is how long it will take him to settle, he is young and from his interview keen to learn. Ed..Sterling, Jesus were not creative players either but did work hard, although I was never a fan of Sterling you could not fault him for effort

threes, agree with much of what you say but in my view, the player has to adapt to the team, I am sure Pep and Jurgen will not have it any other way, Haaland, instil is not much different to our last “9” s. Auger, Dzeko, Tevez who all played “on the shoulder , so to speak. My only reservation is he will be smart enough to match City style and creation of chances, which he is there to finish just like any other team member who finds himself in the spot to score. That is what the City style is about, creating the chances. Still we are criticised for not scoring enough!!!! Football punditry has to be the lowest form of football knowledge!!!

Although I watched most of the match against Germany and noted a much better attitude and performance. I did think they were lacking in focus, if you noticed the German play there was a pattern and structure, we appeared to be constantly trying to find some way getting into the game. I did not rate Sterling or Saka, who I thought should have done more damage down the wings. Pity about Phillips. Lets see what happens from now, anybody that does not feel fit or mentally strong should not start the game…it is a game to be won

I think Tuchell will improve the team next season, he knows what he has to do now in the EPL. If the backing is there and he is given the choices of players he will be looking at trophy’s next season
I think Haaland may well take time to settle, to be honest I am more excited about the other one Alvarez, I know he has no experience of European football but that maybe his good fortune at his age, similar to when we brought in Jesus who I still want to stay because he is a 100% “tryer” and City fans do like “tryers”. I hope you are improving , day on day now, maybe a few off days but the trend is upwards!!_____________________________

Nine….I am never so optimistic on football players movements any more. Reece James more suited to Rugby league in my opinion!!!!!!! I suppose it is about how much Tuchell can bend your new orders ear, Chelsea will sign a few….which ones???

Stranger things have happened Nine. There was also a silly rumour we were interested in Mount, so P/e was muted. We do not need Mount and I doubt if Mount would want City but has the Forum title says. “Silly season. I still cannot understand the pursuit of Phillips either, why would he want to understudy Rodri?? We are, apparently going to sign a midfielder and a full back, no idea who but do not want to loose Zinchenko or Ake

Nike….Yes I use iPad but rarely get it wrong on that. My problem is with iMac, which I have two and same on both. I should really ask Apple how to stop this auto correct into something not applicable. I have been with Apple for approx 27 years and would not like to go back to Windows but I can still get if needed on Apple The two iMacs I have is, one is 12 years old, still performing but slower and have just bought a new one which is fast. The difference is startling..love it

Sorry…Apple type again
“TV companies want more access to TRAINING grounds”
Nine, pleased you are fighting through your difficulties, you will get through it cannot be easy for you
Nine, with respect..the point I am making is they are trained athletes rather than footballers, they have wonderful facilities to help them keep fit, medical back up to prepare them for 90 or 180 minutes a week and get well rewarded at the same time. The biggest thing they will miss is family time. I do believe though that because of potential injuries, more games/competitions bigger squads will be needed. I am just wondering if the new subs rule of 5players mean all can be used or any 3 from 5??

I believe you are right Mikus, there is something missing or what I call the modern era of “Look at ME”
Nike..it is not about blaming the players so much as the cultural shift, it is generated by the various forms of media who hype everything so they can chop it down. Players need to start ignoring the headlines, less talk and get on with the job. I read the other day that TV companies now want more access to trying grounds to record the…..why not ask them to play!!!!!
I hope Clubs and Managers will kick them out but if money is involved again…who knows? There is a cultural difference in working in the UK and Europe at many levels, football, as Mikus pointed out, is one. We believe we have some divine right to be the best, those days of good honest football are long gone and will never return. I feel sorry for to days fans not to have witnessed it. It was a different experience. However, we are where we are and have to get on with it.

“The level of intensity, demands, stakes and how each game more than ever is under is stripped under the microscope can be challenging for a player to uphold mentally and physically. They are humans no matter what bubble theyβre in and will need time to recharge themselves. That I believe in so that they are ready and fully focused for the new season and we as fans get the best out of them.”
Nike, I understand your point but as for coming under pressure, well, the only pressure they should consider is their own, to get the job they are supposed to do done. The pressure from sources such as the media should not count, because, if you are strong enough you will ignore them. Then again, some will actively seek self promotion through them. Another reason I have no sympathy for them
I suppose nothing will change and it could possibly get worse for the game so I hope we can still be entertained by our football “gods” a little while longer. Transfer fees will get higher, wages and perks higher and agents make even more and last the media executives earn a mint commenting on somebody else’s work!!!!
Cheers from the old fogey!!!

I have no sympathy for players at this level, they are well looked after and certainly no financial worries, like many will have , say, be doing hazardous jobs day in day out. It is about mentality and self motivation . What must they be thinking when they walk on the pitch, “sooner this game over the better”? I loved my job, which at times was physical and long hours but my mindset was always. “the day I do not enjoy getting out of bed and going to work is the day I retire>.” I was 76 then. What about the Trawlermen going out to see to put fish on our plate…do they say…..too hot to day!!! What about a Surgeon, Nurse, the list is long. Everyone gets tired, everyone has off days but this about excuses given to a pampered elite. Some of these players are young and you would think every game would be exciting for them but you would not tell from watching them, they are simply in the wrong job. I know it may sound harsh but you have to wonder why a team of, supposedly, talent, run around like headless chickens and look as if they could not care less. Often second best in challenges, lost most of the second balls and hoofing it into no man’s land.
I can see better on the local park Hungray deserved the win The performance level was so poor it was noticeable after 15 minutes and gradually became worse for the rest of the half. Changes should have been made much earlier. OH!! for a good moan to get over it. Mancini will motivate his players that is for sure_____________________________

Inept performance, no other words for it. Not interested in excuses . The players need to ask themselves
1. What are we here for
2. If they prefer to go on holiday, they should say so before the start because that is what it looked like to me, particularly first half, where they could not care less attitude_____________________________

Adlab…re Grealish…..I think he has to make the mark early next season or face more time on the bench…he is capable but he has to to it.He will not be a frolic goal scorer either but could be a really good assist player. Haaland must be thinking..I have KDC, Mahrez Grealish Foden Bernado and Gundoghan all giving me chances…we will see if that works out

Adlab…Grealish like others with big tags there is always a flip side, this being the selling club who set the price, OK City have been able to afford it but there are also occasions when we have walked away. I do not blame the selling clubs for the unrealistic prices they set because that becomes the market price. To me, the price is a two way thing and not exclusive to City…other clubs spend, we have a relatively small squad so it is not as if we have a monopoly on every player that is available. The whole business is unsatisfactory though but I cannot see how it will change unless the authorities put “caps” on player movements, then , we would see a breakaway

Sean..I would not disagree with what you have said but all I would say is, you cannot control football in a fair and equitable way, somebody is always going to have more than others. You could also compare a top team with money with a bottom with money but not as much but the difference is there, so where is the line drawn. A more realistic view is what Mikus has suggested in that it is more about other factors. Money will always be an issue but I think we have to be careful not to over state it. If you take City out of the equation…who is the next one to have the same tag?
…and so it goes on. For me evolution will happen to the game, parts we will like, parts we will hate but will all be driven by money from whatever source and do not forget the TV and Media companies will have a big say as well. Interesting debate, good to read_____________________________
