Really begs the question….what has changed? technology (of a kind) in place yet we have to rely on somebody interpreting what THEY see, which could be right/wrong nevertheless it is a weakness

The next question …Are we better off or do we wait 10 years as suggested by the powers that be for it to come right?

ED, unfortunately, you have a board who know nothing about football
They waste millions on players they did not need, what they needed was a good manager, two good defenders and above all a playmaker
I could add a strong captain on/off field Pogba./ Sanchez purchases in particular cannot have a good effect on the team , especially, when it does not perform. The youngsters show great promise and maybe you should start again from there but you still need a strong experienced player to pull them together. All is not lost after three games, we know, Palace beat us this time last year but Utd management need to start shaping up more than the Manager or players. They set a poor example for a big club thinking they can buy there way out.

I have another suggestion….For the second innings, reverse the batting order, make sure Root is No11. we may make a few more runs!!!!! Maybe get to 90

Nine…I was at the Etihad and “bemused” is very understated.. You could see and hear the silence from everyone, even the Spurs contingent. This experience, for whatever reason was very damaging to spector watching fans

Nine…I would agree with that, as you say it happened in Italy, France never had full house apart from odd situations, Spain is wavering that way I think, Germany for all the lower prices I think they will suffer as well. I am not so interested in them. I want to preserve and improve our historic leagues position but unless the FA pulls it finger out we will get nowhere. Fans will not want to deviate too much from the game we have been brought up on. The alternative is to have empty grounds and watch on the box or in my case listen on radio
We all know there is lots of money in the game, a lot of it could be divided upa little more fairly, big clubs get sponsors, smaller clubs do not get as much. I would certainly put the brakes on Transfer fees and salaries, reduce ticket prices , significantly kick the agents role out and give money to grass root future development of the game

A dream that will never happen because of the four letter word GREED

Disgraceful batting, any Lancashire league team would have put a better performance than that. We have NO test match quality batters and that is the problem. They play 20/20 cricket, some of the supposed shots makes me think I can do better than that. BAT on BALL next time but this match has past us by now and we had to win it. I can see an Australian lead over250-300, far too much for our lot

Something to be said for most of the points, the two games a week will become normal, bigger squads will be justified and a winter break brought in. I have never subscribed to the football “athletes” being tired playing two games a week but what is the tiresome part is the constant travelling but that is a price they have to pay for the salaries they earn. I must say, I probably travelled more in my working life and it did not affect my salary!!!!! I would agree, we do need to find ways of encouraging smaller clubs with some posotive action but at the moment I would not know how to go about this and be fair to all Good post Chuky

My guess as to when it happens is when the curve on the accountants sheet starts to flatten The TV companies will be ready. FiFA/UEFA/FA etc depend on TV revenue. I think fans will walk away. It is a good point about not wanting British teams in UEFA competitions, years ago it was forced on us, we had an even weaker FA then and we were bullied, with or without Brexit if UK teams are pushed out again, any Euro team could hardly call themselves Champions I am even surprised they let England in Euro’s now

Well I could go along with that point Nine..it does come down to branding, that awful word od sponsor driven money. It also begs for a solid European league or Cup by knock outs. However, I think this will be overtaken by the TV companies desire for Global competitions and UEFA, FA etc not smart enough to counter. I still think it will happen.

Chuky…maybe so, I just see it as a thin edge of a wedge. I think this is a contest for who takes charge of Global football, probably will not happen in my lifetime but it will arrive

Pagan…I would have thought the big teams should play small clubs at least once in pre season with a strong team to help them along is not too much to ask, developing football interst in other countries is fine but our lower division clubs need help

Agree with Chuky…it will come and maybe UEFA fear they will have a minor part unless they start doing something quick. Lets get back to a Champions league for Champions
The Final was played by teams finishing 2/3 from one country…….Before anybody shouts….Liverpool and Tottenham deserved there day, they were there on merit as the rules state, but the competition needs to be re named or re formatted I think future competitions will address this but I also think that the thinking from TV and some countries is that GLOBAL leagues and CUPs is what they seek.

442..good post Agree, different skills now required but I wonder how many of the keepers of to day would have survived yesterdays conditions. We will never know but was always in full admiration of all the keepers of the era i came from

ED…I think more to the point is that teams have emerged from the mist and Utd have not moved when everyone thought they would. I hope more teams arrive, would love to see Everton, Wolves and Leicester makeing a serious challenge If one of these teams won the league, I really would not mind, it would show more competition is arriving. In my heart though I still want City to win…it may or may not happen but Liverpool will not be the only contenders this season, I think

The situation back in the good/bad old days with keepers was, they knew they would get clattered unless they made there mark first. A few keepers then were strong and brave enough for forwards not to challenge them too much….or else……. big ears then common!!!!!

Chuky, when I think of, what I call real goalkeepers, the ones that did catch a ball, a heavy mud splattered one as well, plus a burley CF charging down on him…it is just not the same. I do admire the athleticism of the new keepers but as you say I do not like the “Hollywood” act either. However, I suppose if you have never seen real keepers in action the difference would not be known. Swift, Bartram, Sagar,Woodley, Farm etc etc knew how to catch a ball
