Nil…do not worry about it, Liverpool have a highly paid team of management who can do the worrying. You do what any other team does …shuffle the pack and get on with it

OK, Nine…that makes it a little clearer. It is not so much the VAR implementation I have a problem with , it is the interpretation and clear clarification of what is “legal” as per Fifa, or not, by off field officials who have difficulty in coming to a sound decision in reasonable time. This is where the problem is. I think the Ref should be more involved and using the monitor there appears a reluctance to do this. The game could degenerate into more frequent VAR request and the game becoming 120 minutes instead of 90 minutes!!!! OK, a little OTT but you can see where it comes from. Chuky eluded to something although not in the same context that I am thinking of. Is the game being changed for a TV audience, fan bases will no longer be significant, they can “can” sound and paint pictures on seats!!!! Sorry, me being an unbeliever again!!

A lot of good points guys but I keep coming back to something that is a puzzle to me. Why introduce it when it is not ready, although I see a big part of the problem is human interpretation Out of interest…how many other countries have adopted it in there Premier League, which also begs another question, why did they not trial it extensively in lower leagues first? I just think it could have been managed better in conjunction with re training Refs on what they may expect and react to or are we moving to a game with NO referees on the pitch and 20 watching monitors?????

28th November 2019 at 4:50 pm in reply to: Man City mega deal shows how FSG may take Liverpool to next level #54708I suspect more investors will also enter football, some will want a ready made situation, say like Arsenal who have a structure and be a top echelon team more ready to go for a big investor , or, an investor who is going to make a longer term project out of it for teams like Newcastle and Sunderland, it will happen, sooner or later
Football, as we knew it, with the Chairman doing all the decision making have all but gone and I think the game is better for it but in saying that, there has been some good Chairman, not many but good ones_____________________________

Like it or not…it is here. Changes required…of course, however who will do it and how transparent will they be. My cynical view is we are one step away from match fixing on a large scale unless it is policed, then who polices the police. A never ending situation has been brought about which should have been cleared up by a high refereeing standard and goal line technology only. I would scrap the offside rule all together

Mourinho is a good manager, he does get things wrong….that is part of being human. What I find mystifying is the story of Mourinho is bigger than the reality. The media generate and thrive on it. True he gets a big salary but none of us knows what internal conflicts he is confronted with to make the job easier or harder. I am not making any excuses for the guy but I would like to give him a fair crack of the whip and wish him well in his new job Time will tell
Who is next Klopp, Pep ????? Nothing is forever, if you are winning…enjoy it_____________________________

Nine….I have given up trying to second guess pep but for what it is worth I think Mahrez will play. I also think we will start with a tighter formation. It should be a great football match I just hope the Ref is good for both sides and we do not have to rely on VAR

My family were Utd fans, my first game was during the war years 1944 to be precise, my sister and her newly wed husband, both avid Utd fans took me to maine rd to watch City v Everton, they were annoyed because he could only get a week end pass that week end and he was hoping it was a Utd game. He was in a Lancaster Bomber crew. The first thing that amazed me was the crowd, although I do remember we had a seat in the main stand, not sure how they got tickets at short notice but on reflection we may have queued up. The ground was packed. Big well behaved crowds then but once you left your spot, no chance of getting it back. Teams were made up of “Guest players” and team players lucky enough to be around. My next two matches I was taken to, both Utd…at Maine Rd because Roslers grandad bombed Old Trafford!!!! I was propelled back to City though, mostly because of Frank Swift the goalkeeper, a wonderful keeper and showman, I have seen few his equal since. Supporting City then was also an adventure because if I used my bike to get to match the local houses let there backyards out,,,three pence for match time and gave you a ticket. By Bus, it was always two buses and they were always packed with a steady stream of them running from the centre of Manchester The atmosphere in the ground was exciting, no trouble and being wartime, plenty of uniforms, there was always a sense of watching something special, sometimes a star player, no matter what team but was held in a deep reverence that brought about an excitement..Joe Mercer was one such player along with Stanley matthews, peter Doherty, Tommy Lawton etc, So, the question…why City amongst a household of Utd fans….I do not know but it never bothered me…..or them. I even have a daughter a big Utd fan but I have been working on the grandchildren and doing OK with them…they wear blue!!!!

I think we will see a good game of football, it has all the ingredients for a top game. I like the look of the Chelsea youngsters who will be well supported by Kante and Jorgihno it is then a case of how well whoever City put as a back line keeping in mind Pep does not do defensive tactics. I suspect Fernandinho will continue at CB and Rodri will be charged with doing two jobs, support the LH side and his own job leaving KDB and Silva/Gungdoghan to knit it together. Regretfully I will not be able to attend the match but I will e listening in on GMR Hope best team wins

It would be churlish to criticise a win but I thought we were very haphazard, did not control midfield again, sloppy in defending particularly in passing and often passed sideways and backwards. I thought this would have been the game for some of the youngsters to make a mark but against better opposition they would have been rolled over with this kind of performance against a team that was wilting at times and we never took advantage. OK..so I am churlish but still unimpressed

Innocent until proved guilty, too many have the hangman’s rope out. If City are found guilty I would be the first to say “justified” but there are too many dark corners in this, including UEFA,der Spiegel.
On Chukys proposal of 75 Million cap ok but one of the biggest problems in football is the new level of transfer costs a very large proportion goes to Agents, so we have brown envelopes flying around…why are UEFA, Fifa not tackling this, which dwarfs and inflates everything The whole thing needs clarity, which we will never see

Well these “reports” of the “alleged” wrong doing need to exposed, UEFA, just do it and lets see what happens. Why in there due diligence prior to this not picked up on any wrong doings? They need to look at there own organisation….again

One man’s opinion…..is it important even to pick a team “so far” just for the sake of filling a dead spot in a news slot?

15th November 2019 at 8:57 pm in reply to: City’s Appeal on the FFF charges has been rejected By CAS #52995The only thing UEFA are interested in is screwing as much money as they can out of City and banning an English team. If they had legal evidence , where has it been all this time? They need to start looking at there own organisation….again!!!

Nil…in my experience the best football crowds for behaviour and friendliness was up to 1952 after that, it went downhill The late 60s probably started it though
