Laporte will be back in less than 5 weeks, just seen some TV of him on training pitch, However first games he will need to get up to match speed. Hope he stays clear of any future injury. Always thought Kompany was unlucky with his

Nine…I was not questioning your statement only if you believed the Fifa figures. Personally, I do not and your following comments confirm to me that they “produced” figures to prove a point and expense to ward off what is actually happening. This is more than just getting a decision right it is changing the fluidity of the game and the decision time taken is getting bigger…you will soon have time to go for a drink at the bar and come back and still await what has been decided. If we want the game to get better..scrap the offside…would that be so bad?????

Nil…The media and ENGLAND manager clamoured for City to give Foden more Match time. City rightly ignored it, Foden was being schooled internally by City players and staff notably David Silva who had taken him under his wing and is being introduced gradually I remember SAF doing that with Ryan Giggs when he was a youngster and everybody then was saying when is he going to play him.

Nil…not only Foden but Garcia will make a class CB, no doubt about that and with Harwood-Bellis and Doyle making there debuts and doing well the Academy is producing and will be played but they have to compete with whoever is holding the spot. My guess is that Liverpool will do similar. Both clubs also know that it is great having the youngster coming through but they will also have to buy ready made talented experienced players to keep at a high level Investing in any player is no guarantee, you win some, you loose some and I have yet to find a perfect buyer. If ever there was case to highlight this it was Ballotelli…Talented, gifted, on his day unstoppable but too much baggage…I think he has found out too late in his life like most do

Mak….good to see your post again. I do have to update you on City, Re CB, we will sign one, mostly in case Laporte breaks down, like Kompany did a few seasons ago. and now Liverpool are so far ahead we can play two very promising youngsters Garcia and Harwood-Bellis as CBs for future. The losses this season are self inflicted as City fans know and a couple of fresh faces will arrive in the summer
Everyone goes on about the loss of Kompany but he could not have gone on for another season and was injured a lot in his last season. I think Pep reasoned we had CBs that mostly played and carried us through two momentous seasons, what happened after that was laporte was crocked, Stones became injury prone, Otamendi aged and we lost a valuable midfielder who had to plug the gap..Fernandinho…what a waste..in my opinion However, I am sure lessons have been learned and we will improve as we go along but I still expect a reversal in a couple of matches this season. This is Liverpools year and well deserved on the football and management they have shown so far.happy new Year to you_____________________________

Nine…but do you believe Fifa figures? What about some independent figures done by people who know what they are talking about. Please do not tell me Fifa know what they are doing with there track record

Just a thought…….the more people involved in makeing a decision the more likely any mistake will be interpreted in a different way….that is my opinion
If a decision cannot be made in less than a minute then the case in point is doubtful and the game should stay with the Referees decision. also keeping in mind..these guys watching and making decisions/or not are watching this before any of us has seen replays they look and judge on…so …this to me ..is even more time they have to make up there minds.
Technology flawed by humans

Pleased with the win against Everton, who disappointed .The plus points were Foden, Garcia putting in good performances. KDB running the game and Jesus sharp up front. Pity Bravo gave them a goal.We still need a solid CB, unlikely with Pep style, but I do see a back three of Laporte Garcia and Rodri next season, plus a new signing which could free up Rodri for midfield. We will loose David Silva, probably Fernandinho, Otamendi and maybe Stones.

Although I had no serious objections to VAR at the start, it is clear to me that the whole system has not been thought out correctly. We have introduced a stop/start game which I can only see getting worse if something is not done…now. The game will finish up run by technology and people working at monitors. The art of the game will be lost and an unproven technology takes over. The game is going downhill because nobody is addressing the issues in a positive way

Mikus…badly thought through from the start. If they were any good at there job they should have identified problem areas before they started and only start when they have well thought through. I think it shows a distinct lack of knowledge

I am not blaming Refs injuries or anything else, we are where we are. We have lost games mostly to self inflicted mistakes that is the reality. No good crying over spilt milk but I do expect Pep to address the situation. I also do not think age of players is such a factor after all these are very experienced players and even with all the faults they were still a threat until recent losses, down to schoolboy errors, you only have to look at Sterling pass and Mendy dithering to see that. These were YOUNG players. Liverpool will win the title deservedly so and I hope they do it in style and not fall off the pedestal. As a City fan, despite our shortcomings it is a good team and people who write them off, and Pep, will have to watch the future unfurl I am happy Garcia and Foden be given more playing time, I expect them both to be starters next season

27th December 2019 at 11:07 am in reply to: Week 18: Yule Never Have A Better Chance To Win…. To Win… With Hope In Your. #57442stevensmakeeyes…back in the late 40’s early 50’s I watched City play Plymouth on a Christmas morning, which was unusual in itself, the reason was both teams travelled back to Plymouth for the return game on Boxing’s day. My view on the congestion topic, teams have squads now and the general fitness of players is at a higher level so I think all Pro footballers should be capable of plating two games a week. What is not acceptable is the time in between matches we have to day, It is not fair to players OR fans

The fixture list is madness not just for the players but the fans as well but the over riding thing is football is made for global TV now

Nine….I would like to see more of it….i.e the Sheff Utd/Wolves/ etc etc we need that kind of injection in the game to save us City, Utd, Liverpool Arsenal Spurs fans droning on how good we are….good luck to the up and coming teams
A team cannot be a Champion unless others are competing and we must respect that other teams have contributed to the EPL as much as the top ones….imo_____________________________

23rd December 2019 at 9:15 pm in reply to: Average annual salary of Premier League players tops Β£3m #57364Salaries need to be capped but let them earn bonus’s for results like winning competitions. OR,, make them pay 25% to lower league teams of there earnings because without them, they would not be winners of anything. I want the lower teams to do better out of the millions being made but the biggest tax the game could put on something is the Agent

Nine…I have not seen it yet but I will. Had a lot of local fans who ask me who was the better keeper Swift or Trautman….for me Trautman was technically the better keeper but Swift was the keeper forwards knew they had to beat and was a great showman as well as a great keeper. As a young lad I remember getting his autograph, more than once, and he shook my hand…..it was like my hand was engulfed in a huge pillow, big but gentle. I have still not seen a keeper that was better in all round performance Ederson may get close one day

That sums up the year well Chuky and like you I am falling out of love for the game as a whole, that is, the grip of TV, Agents and just about everybody in a non football sense The game needs to get back to its roots before it is ruined completely. A few years ago I forecast a game run by TV on a global basis, with 20 minute “periods” a second team on the bench. Vies being obscured by hot dog salespeople selling there “products” just when somebody is scoring a goal. VAR, doubled, two Refs on the pitch, a “hooter” for the final whistle controlled off the pitch (I see this as a positive) More players will move, more Managers will move and the real costs of watching a match will increase significantly. Yes, the local parks are appearing more attractive or dare I say it…watch the Ladies play A good post Chuky
