Mav, you are right of course but I also think these people have so much they do not even need to launder money, well maybe a foolish thought. Money laundering is the new way of describing something that has been going on for centuries, happens every day in every country, yes, even in the UK. It is wrong, but I have no clue how you would stop it. In my business life I had some real scary moments which I dare not put in print…other than to say…I never participated but had an experience. The public have no real perception how it works other than headlines I guess the Newcastle deal will eventually go through then UEFA will have another force to reckon with

Adlab.. in part response to yours….In the early 70’s a similar scheme was launched, the Banks were never in favour of it and did squash most applicants with all kinds of flimsy excuses. I know, I was one of them. In fact they told me I was not a viable business, I am pleased to say I went on to be success. What the Govt should have done with this scheme was to nominate ONE bank, preferably one we had some say in and have strict rules on how it should be done..then..get on with it. It will never work in current format because it is against Banks interstate’s, after all, they are supposed to be in the business of lending as well as selling currency The Govt need to give the banks a kick up the …….

I saying the above, I also believe most small business do not have the information banks will demand, so it makes there job easy. However it comes back to attitude as well and you cannot get passed that. When I went before the Bank manager and hi “advisor” I had a detailed 5 year plan with endorsements from some key customers but they hardly looked through more than a couple of pages…there mind was made up before i sat down.

Years later, I met a Regional Director of a major bank, happened to be the same bank I applied to, I told him my story, his words I will remember all my life

“Brian, bank Managers could not run a small business”

Nav…..if you were a wealthy potential owner you would be faced with two things at the start. The Club debt and responsibilities and how much Ashley wants. Then they have to think….how do we get Newcastle moving in the right direction….more investment…OK we will put in place…..WAIT UEFA has something to say.

Had this been a European club of similar standing to Newcastle it would have passed by, no trouble.
However, in saying that there would be a number of objectors here in the IK not lease the “closed shop” mentality

The new potential owners may not be ideal for some, but who then will take Ashleys price on??? Have you noticed also, all the potential/real owners of clubs are no longer British, so what are we talking about.?

My feeling is “Football has not been about football for a long time and I fear it will get worse on the basis of the mad scramble to come to play matches with more crazy money from TV and betting companies who really know how to fleece the public” It may even get to the stage when it is cheaper to go to a match than watch the TV and “experts” I jets of course. (do I?)

Nine, you may well be right on this, for now, but what concerns me is that FFP was ill thought out at the start, never did due diligence on itself on how it would stand up to rigorous scrutiny in a legal or arbitration court, now we shall have to wait and see. After all that, it is a useless mechanism, if you want to impose some financial rules then it has to be better than this because many other factors come into play.

I am hoping I am over the worst Mav. Thanks with others for the wishes. It has been truly hard for me the last few weeks , so many dear friends going so close to each other, All my golfing partners gone now as well, not that I am playing now. I get a bit down every so often just thinking about them and now I will just have to battle on.
I have followed the thread, cannot help thinking the legal profession will be rubbing their hands, waiting for the first one eager to have a match than somebody gets the virus. That club will have a huge claim against it on multiple fronts therefore I cannot understand why they are even trying to rush it…..it cannot be done and there are other priorities than getting a football match going

In our small village, we see cars and bikes driving through at crazy speeds because the roads are quiet. Parking in unbelievable places and yes, bad accidents…which were avoidable ones

It is a good job a war of bullets and bombs is not going on because I do not know how this population would cope.
Now, I read the Labour party want to start an investigation on why more ethnic people are dying in this virus era. You cannot make it up. Another platform for the politicians to talk up instead of getting on with the job of getting the country back on its feet We are scraping the barrel again

I recently lost two good friends and another in a serious way in Hospital, yesterday, I lost one of my dearest friends so i am not having the best of times at the moment. Football is least of my concerns now, Nine makes a good point about playing behind closed doors, we cannot afford to divert our services like police away from there duties to watch over fans outside the ground, oh yes, they will be there and stretch other services as well. Scrap the season, start again but when the new season starts from a new starting place snd for goodness sake, all these footballing management structures like FA, Fifa UEFA, somebody…MAKE a decision and stick with it. The only thing that is certain is Corona 19 will be with us for some time yet, so if you want a starting date from me Jan 1 st 2021 Take care everybody, I am signing out for a time but will be back when I can

Although I sympathise with the Ministers having to give a daily issue of the same news they are not looking inwards enough. They say it is a “logistics” problem, That means a RED TAPE problem and that means Hanover managed system . We cannot afford this amount of ineptitude.
Another point is granting £10K to Mps because they have to work from home….what about thousands of others. Why are MPs not taking a pay cut???

Why are we lending £600 million to an airline when we are told not to fly anywhere? When, for goodness sake will they ever be able to pay it back? More like it will go bust and we will loose the lot

Somebody has hands on money and is parting with it too easily

Give it to the front line NHS ONLY not the structure which is constipating itself with Consultants Quangos and a more than liberal management structure

Not a fan of milk chocolate prefer dark and have yet to see a dark egg . Eggs in Cups? I have seen them but I guess they are very old stock, I doubt they have done them for years It was the most popular once upon a time, may see them in speciality chocolate shops though

Well I asked the question, in reality I believe the question cannot be validated with any one view because we all have views and opinions. there are all kinds of “ifs and but”, we all know that and smart enough to know Utd, Liverpool Chelsea and Arsenal had some great footballing teams. One of the greatest achievements in modern football was Liverpools recovery against Barcelona, to me , that was better than the Real Madrid final, against that, we have been bombarded with Liverpool “only lost by a point last season”, yet, it was not many seasons ago when the same thing happened in reverse, if my memory serves me right. I have yet to hear one City fan moan about that..one point.
Footballs worst enemy are the fans, wherever they come from, expectancy too high, claimed rights to win everything, too high, I have stated it before, Fans need to appreciate the game of football by 22 players…they will enjoy it more then Sometimes you win, sometimes you loose. In my 75 yr support history of supporting City I have been brought up in loosing more until recent times, so I am enjoying the sunshine but my umbrella is always at hand!!!

As a PS, just to get everyone talking. I think Pep and Klopp have brought more to the EPL than Wenger and SAF, the game is on a different level now. True both Wenger and SAF did uplift the game in there era but not to the level Liverpool and City are playing now. What happens in the future is anybody’s guess

Mak, I put that suggestion out because I think football will change a lot from a structural and financial aspect and they both may not like what transpires. The national teams would be a good option for them and closer to home
