Nine…the matches have no relevance to me, meaningless. I see it only putting money in “suits”pockets. I just hope the EPL players come out of it in a healthy state. I think the betting industry will be working overtime as well. Any England fans would be crazy to go

Good to read your post again Chuky and Steve. there will be plenty to talk about this season I think. However, I am in despair on hw the disrupted season will have an effect on players and clubs final position. Stupid idea

In one tabloid, out of 9 “expert” columnist give Liverpool to win title by 6-3 votes. I am happy with that, we will see what the end of season brings when Aston Villa win it !!! there I go with one of my predictions again…sorry Villa fans.!!!!! Then again…why not

Nine…it will be a more competitive season, most teams having spent money, remains to be seen how wisely. I will miss actually attending this season but may get to the odd game. I am not so worried about our LB position as many pundits are, this appears our weak spot to many

Game 1….I just hope the whole season improves in a number of areas, let the Refs do there job and any unruly behaviour in the stands, stop the game until they are cleared out. We need to start getting tougher with disruptive fans no matter what club.Sorry, I should not have referred to them as fans but trouble makers

I think you are right about BBC…too many of them plus they forget, we also watch the game and have an opinion…so what is the point of so many of them. but to be honest I could not name a preference for any one of them.It amazes me when one of them would say…he should have squared that ball. or something similar…when the player may have been trying to do that….ex players should know…they did it….football is not a science and never will be

Respectfully disagree Nike..I came up in an age and before that, when there were real working class fans, without benefits and the atmosphere and respect was real for everyone single one. There is no excuse for lack of respect but these days everybody wants everything to there where of thinking…
The past has gone, you are right Nike…we are poorer for it and it will be the fans that ruin it, not owners, clubs..the fans because on the path it is going it will shut clubs dow, even at smaller clubs the cost of managing a crowd has become a factor, in fact, if fans behaved there would be no need for this expenditure at all and everyone can have a good time…..wishful thinking on my part but I guess you know what I mean. That is why I enjoyed the Ladies game so much, a big crowd, all respectful of the occasion, no hooligan element but a family one, we need to get the hooligans out and the families in, at a sensible price level to encourage them to be regulars.

Mikus..100% with you on that…I have long said it will be the “so called fans” that will ruin the game. You do not have to look far for evidence and it is not getting better. I use one word that encapsulates many of the “ills”. Respect… it is no longer applicable in football or a lot of society to day. Fans believe, if they have not got it, nobody else should have it, that is there “given right”. Of course , it opens up a can of worms into other aspects of behaviour and respect
I wish we could follow the Ladies Fans, sit on seats and clap as a family, even sit next to opposition fans…I know that will never happen now but that game was glimpse of how it should be

That is always the case with the media…they instigate differences between fans by hysterical comments, probably most have them have never played football….no…I do not mean a certain well paid presenter he always sits on the fence or steers the conversation to what he wants you to hear.. I have no admiration for any of them and it has nothing to do with the team I support

Rover…Sports Bra to be correct…Jill Scott almost got a card for squaring up to a player who grabbed her…..lets say…inapproperly!!!!!!

I did not understand Germany’s tactics being very physical and tried to dominate England that way….they have very skilful players who can really play football…why did they not? England matched them except on fouls, Englands first two Yellows so early in the game almost ruined it, to be honest I did not think either of them justified a Yellow…well it is over now and we deserved it

Nike…I do not know how you could be bored with that game. They were brilliant. The fans also were a credit, no flares, no crowd disturbance , all sang the national Anthem well and they clapped and cheered without the need to be nasty, a throw back to when it was enjoyable to go to a match. I doubt the mens game will learn anything from it, too far gone now. Nobody can say the ladies are not fit enough and when they are fouled they get up and play not the histrionics we see weekly in the mens game, I am sure most are in the Actors guild. Anyway…Ladies, well done. bring us the World Cup next

Hi Sean, thanks for asking. I am OK at moment To morrow…possible tooth extraction Thursday cataract treatment but all is well. I cannot believe the over hype about ONE match pre season and judgements on players….these people know little about football

Blueson…..I would agree that, for me, the EPL is far more important than the CL.FA Cup second and CL third

The Charity Shield game is just that a Charity game, however, it is an important fixture and should be treated as such, maybe not as elevated as others but still an important game. I think both teams and others in the past have shown this to be so. Liverpool won yesterday because they wanted it more than us for most of the game but I am also not too disappointed with City effort, a lot of rustiness which is to be expected.

The papers now have there target headlines for the coming season. Haaland v Nunez!!!!! both can be eclipsed by others!!!

My last word on the “booing”. The National Anthem is played for ALL the nation and the Queen not just for football fans, it is not the time or place to show such poor behaviour to millions who watch and listen.I hope it does not continue and develop as a “norm”.
