Oz, maybe we have more depth, and we have played well the last three games. But we struggled against Everton and without a doubt United, Chelsea and several others will sit deep and try and hit us on the break. Playing this style we will drop points.

Very early days. The league is not won in September. I remember many predicting we would walk the league after we won the first six games last season. In the end we actually struggled a bit to get top four. I think league is much stronger the past few years than it was when United dominated under Fergusson. I am not trying to diminish his achievements which were remarkable (gritted teeth) but Uniteds dominance in the transfer market has also been well and truly broken the last few seasons, and where as it was virtually a given that if a top player wanted to move he would go to united, nowadays there are six clubs competing for his signature. The PL is awash with talented footballers and many more clubs can afford to bring in quality players. The Pl league is harder now than at any other time. It’s a marathon not a sprint. Sorry for the cliche! Jim

I agree about Sanchez Brian. I just can’t see where he will fit into this team unless Pep is looking to rotate and for cover for injuries. But I would prefer him to reinforce the centre half position with Vinnys injury record. I cant see Messi coming to us, he would simply cost too much. As much as I think most fans in the uk as well as City fans would love to see him play in the prem I think he will finish his career at Barca. B Silva is a great little player and Mendy is a beast with a fantastic final ball, for me Walker has also really impressed but we knew of his quality at Spurs.
Ps Sean, David Silva is worshipped by City fans. He rarely has a poor game, mr consistent.
Cheers Jim

I hope some of the other City fans on TT join this site. They are all good knowlegable and balanced posters on the City page who have followed our club for a long time. So I know they appreciate our good fortune and more importantly the football we are playing these days.

I was sceptical at first over Peps style of play and his rigidity last season. We got caught out against some sides on the break. Leicester away was embarrassing. I also felt that he was not giving some players a chance such as Inheanacho while others who offered little such as Navas were played too often. We had no plan B. This summer Inheancho has gone and we tried to buy another player in Sanchez who is similar to Aguero and Jesus but more importantly we have bought fast and powerful wingbacks and another skilful playmaker in Bernardo Silva. Pep is reinforcing his style of play not diluting it. When we click we are playing some sublime football as we have that past few days and with two upfront the opposition are clearly finding it very hard to defend, but we will be more vulnerable with 3 at the back. To play this high tempo style you also need a big squad and need to rotate players as we saw midweek with Pep taking off Jesus. It’s exciting times to be a City fan at the moment. I have no grumbles at this early stage in the season. I would have like to have some centre half back up but at present that doesn’t seem to be an issue but sterner tests lie ahead. But I’m sold in Pep we trust. Jim

To say I am rather pleased with how we are playing is an understatement. Haven’t seen our game but listened to most of it. Are we playing free flowing total football at the moment?

Hi Brian, I am expecting goals today. Watford play expansive football and if they do today we should score at least 2. So much to discuss about this season under pep. I have been particularly impressed with Mendy and Walker. Pace width and consistent high quality balls into the box are something we have missed the past few seasons. Jim

To be honest Ed, Everton were well disciplined in defence and caught us on the break the first half at the Etihad. And although we battered them in the second half with 10 men and equalised I thought that was part of their game plan. Ie nick a goal and try and hang on. Since then they have been really exposed all over. But early days.

I wasn’t too impressed with his reaction and words after Mane’s challenge on Ederson, but that aside I Quite like Klopp. However it would seem to me that he gets a bit of an easy ride from the media, much more so than Guardiola gets. This is no doubt down to the large fan base Liverpool have, the large number of ex Liverpool players that are now pundits and the influence both of these have on the media in the UK. We also saw this with Rogers and Liverpool’s title challenge in 2014, there was palpable disappointment in large parts of the media that Liverpool didn’t win the PL that year. Which completely overlooked the fact that City scored more goals, won more games and had a much better goal difference while playing equally exciting football under Pellergrini in his first season. Cheers Jim

Stoke is a hard place to go and grab hold of the game to be honest. That said in my eyes he’s not set the PL alight since his return, he may well do that in the future, but at present he has a way to go to reach Yaya in his prime. I wanted City to bid for him at Juve, not sure whether we did or not. The role that he would have played is now seemingly occupied by Kevin DeBryne. Maybe you don’t need such a collusus pulling the strings in midfield.
