That would be statement of intent if Liverpool bought Sanchez!

28th December 2017 at 11:17 am in reply to: United will need to spend more money to catch City as will everyone else! #10250Have to agree on Vertonghen and Alderviweld really good players. But I honestly don’t see Stones and Otamendi that far behind. Kompany sadly is no longer the player he is with his repeated injuries. Mangala has improved somewhat but still has errors in him ala west ham and his distribution is poor. He isnt good enough imo.
Like to add that Liverpool need to break the bank more often as this has resulted in the best debate on footydebate. ?

28th December 2017 at 11:04 am in reply to: United will need to spend more money to catch City as will everyone else! #10244Sean, Otamendi has always been a good defender, just this season he has improved. Look that’s just my opinion. I admit i havent watched VVD as much at Saints and i know you probably have watched hime more as you really do watch and know ypur football. But I also think it’s the opinion of most City fans. It’s not slight on VVD But I honestly don’t think he would be first choice in our back two. Otamendi now fits in perfectly with Peps system. Sure Pep no doubt wanted him but at half that money in guessing. Cheers Jim

28th December 2017 at 10:52 am in reply to: We get slagged off. Liverpool how great to spend £75m #10237Rumours are Saints made Liverpool pay a premium for VVD. To be fair i think they are also getting a fair amount of stick. Neville openly laughed last night. But you are right, we went about the Sterling signing the correct way and the liverpool media mafia went into overdrive. VVD at that money is a big risk for them no doubt. But their need was far far greater than ours. And its probably cost them their best player aswell. They also now probably need a keeper.

28th December 2017 at 10:40 am in reply to: United will need to spend more money to catch City as will everyone else! #10229Sorry Mav, based on last season’s form maybe. But this season Otamendi has been outstanding, he had a two footed lunge in him every game last season. Pep has eradicated that and his distribution is now brilliant aswell, he reads the game well and is defends brilliantly. Hes an intergral part of the best defence in the league. Sorry mate but if you think VVD is better you need to give your head a wobble. VVD has been poor. Jim

27th December 2017 at 10:39 pm in reply to: United will need to spend more money to catch City as will everyone else! #10198Nine I agree entirely as undoubtedly other clubs will sign players to improve themselves. But you didn’t answer my question mate. How will City sign all these great players when we already have a very good side? One or two possibly three additions a season is what will happen imo. That is what united did under Fergsusson. Cheers Jim

We were very wasteful. And for once I don’t think Peps substitution was that great it allowed Newcastle to get a small foothold in midfield when they did eventually attack. But of course it would not have been a worry if we could have taken one of the many chances we created in the first half. 3pts is all that matters.

27th December 2017 at 10:20 pm in reply to: United will need to spend more money to catch City as will everyone else! #10194Nine how many top strikers and midfielders can a premiership side keep happy? 6 midfielders tops. 2 possibly 3 strikers. Rumours are we are struggling to keep Aguero happy. And we certainly have no room at all in midfield. So how on earth would we be able to buy all the best players. Contes remarks were purely mourinihoesk and riidiculous.

27th December 2017 at 10:06 pm in reply to: United will need to spend more money to catch City as will everyone else! #10191Nine, did you seriously believe VVD was going to end up at City? It was never likely imo. He wouldn’t want to sit on the bench as a backup centre half and conversly I very much doubt City would pay any where near what liverpool have paid for what would be a third choice centre half at City behind Stones and Otamendi. 30 or 40 mill tops thats why we were interested in Johnny Evans at arround 25m. Liverpool’s defensive need is far greater than ours and if Klopp can can him back to his best he will be a quality signing for them. It’s also not possible for one team to buy all the best players across the European Leagues that’s just Conte talking complete rubbish imo. Also Pep generally doesnt really do marque signings since he has been at City.

27th December 2017 at 8:40 pm in reply to: United will need to spend more money to catch City as will everyone else! #10172Mav, I admit little provocative but it imo and it is just my opinion, the 1-2 scoreline flattered United massively. City dominated the who 90minutes with chances shots possession and territory in that game. Much more so than the 1-6. Where you went down to 10men. And what three of the goals were scored in the last few minites. But hey it’s all about opinions. You are of course correct we have wasted millions on bang average players. But Pep has undoubtedly improved many players this season whereas I don’t think you could say the same for Mouriniho in recent years. Cheers Jim

Should be at least a couple up. Possible red card for Newcastle. Another great goal from Raheem. Is it me or does Kompany get injured in the first few minutes of a game more often than not. Is he warming up or is he afraid to?? Real shame for him.

Aguero starts again, is that a statement from Pep that he wants Aguero to stay?

27th December 2017 at 7:00 pm in reply to: "He's coming home, he's coming home, he's coming, Van Dijk's coming home" #10152That’s a bit harsh Pagan. But though Liverpool wernt lacking up front their defense was like a sieve. Klopp needed to balance his squad. And unless FSG have found 75m down the back of the sofa you can safely assume that Barca have tied up a deal for Coutiniho otherwise knowing what Liverpool have agreed for VVD, Barca would now just offer much less than they did previously and Liverpool would have to accept to fund VVD? All speculation of course.

27th December 2017 at 6:27 pm in reply to: United will need to spend more money to catch City as will everyone else! #10148Liverpool’s need defensively is far greater than ours. We have the best defense in the league. No way did I11 think we would ever pay 50m for a back up centre half let alone 75m.

27th December 2017 at 6:17 pm in reply to: Christmas and New year fixtures up until 4th Jan (Including Predictions) #10142Wasn’t it a shot from point blank range from Gerrard, tbh I thought it hit the top of his foot then bounced up and hit his arm. But its the issue is the same. Why was there pressure from above? What good does it do?? Nothing.

27th December 2017 at 5:51 pm in reply to: United will need to spend more money to catch City as will everyone else! #10134Honestly Can’t see City offering more or even coming close to that kind of money Sean. The reason being defensively we are pretty good and we just need a third choice centre half to help vinny so he wouldnt be first choice. Stones and Otamendi have been superb and ate first choice. Secondly clearly he is good but is he that good? He ended up at Celtic where arguably it is easier to look good in a awful league and has had what 1 and half good seasons at Southampton. However he could also be another Stones and Klopp could improve him and you certainly need to improve defensively. Jim
