Didn’t see it. Just heard the end of it on the radio where the commentator said Russia had not beaten a European team for nearly 30 years or something like that. And strangely they didn’t get another European team in the group. That is lucky !

That’s a fair point Chucky but I would also contend that Sterling is our most creative player with regards to movement. Seeingcas we dont have a playmaker passer of the ball in midfield.

I would definitely play Sterling just behind Kane. I realise his finishing for England hasn’t been up to scratch but he has improved enormously for City this past season. And for for me he creates so many more chances than any other England player. His movement is excellent it’s just when he gets into those great positions he wastes chances he should be sticking away. If he could take his chances like Kane he would be amongst the world best as he would have certainly scored 35 goals plus this season. I like Rashford alot and people rightly think he can finish but the stats don’t lie. He has scored one goal very 258 mins in the Prem and Sterling has scored one goal every 144mins. That’s a big difference.

I find it a little odd that this was released unless it was from Karius himself as some sort of excuse. Also heard on talksport this morning that Karius nearly did a similar blunder as Bales 2nd goal went Liverpool played Roma Roma where the ball went straight through his hands and hit the cross bar. Did he have concussion then aswell? Feel sorry for the guy but this looks a bit too suspicious. Or maybe I’m an old cynic.

Not seen the details but think its one game ban one suspended. To be honest I didnt expect much else. UEFA sanctions have always been adhoc and random. Remember when City got a bigger fine for turning out a few seconds late after HT vs Sporting Lisbon than Porto got for blatant widespread crowd racism.

Ed I agree I think our defence looks a bit suspect especially compared to having the Terry and Rio partnership. But the midfield looks promising. Let’s be honest the last few tournaments we have really struggled to create chances not having a flair player and weve had so little movement and few ideas. We still don’t have a flair player but with these three plus Loftus Cheek with Walker, Rose and Trippier out wide I think we could do ok.
Clearly Sterling has to improve his composure in front of goal but he has improved that at City and don’t see why he wont improve in an England shirt. I think Southgate has probably picked the best 23 available. I like Lalana as a player but he has sadly not played this season. Perhaps my past judgement on Henderson was a bit too harsh. Has he improved ? Would like to here thoughts on Henderson from the Liverpool lads on here? Maybe Southgate could have chosen a wild card like young Ryan Sessegnon but who would he have dropped? Nine I truly think Atkinson was bought today. He gave us absolutely nothing. One of the worst displays since those other bent barstards Taylor and Madley fucked us over last. I wish him nothing but misfortune and pain. Pissed off with football.

Sean. Pep totally fucked up imo. Sterling has scored plenty of goals this season but he needs twice as many chances to score as either Jesus or Aguero. KDB should have started also. By the time Pep realised his mistake it was too late. What terrible week. Two really important games and we didnt play our best side in either. Bizarre.
