Nine. Clearly I am little bored at work so I went and checked ? Pogba career wise has 47 goals and 45 assists in all comps at a ratio of 1 goal every 436mins and 1 assist every 455 minutes. Mahrez has bizarrely also 47 goals and only 34 assists but these were scored at a ratio of 1 goal every 280mins and 1 assist every 387mins. I don’t wish to sound ungreatful but I have to echo Brian when I say I can’t see how Mahrez will add to this City team. If we were linked with Pogba I would be disappointed. Jim

Fair point nine, I supose what I was asking was why does Mav think Pogba is in a different league as a player than Mahrez as his goal and assist stats don’t substantiate the claim?

Pogba vs Mahrez interesting debate Mav. Why do you think Pogba is a much better player than Mahrez? It can’t be based on goals and assists as his stats over his career as a whole and the even last season were worse than Mahrez and yet you state that he is not in the same league as a player who you value at 3-4 times the value of? Serious question Mav

I agree Adlab and Moos, we are what we are and that’s fine by me. We’ve all seen this at club football and as others have pointed out Greece won the euros playing like this. And Leicester did the seemingly impossible playing a similar style. One off games can be won against teams containing more talented players. Look at Spain Germany and Argentina in this tournament. How many times did the top six teams in the premiership who are loaded with quality lose to teams from the bottom six last season. It happens thats why it is such a great sport. Every step we make is something none of us expected. We’ve just got a chance. We should just enjoy it while it lasts.

Mav, although I have reservations about how Mahrez can improve our 1st team and squad and don’t think he’s worth anywhere near the £90m Leicester were originally asking. He has been PFA player of the year and instrumental in Leicester winning the PL. He is a quality player and is on a long contract and if Sanchez, Pogba, Dick Van Dyke were sold for what they were it’s fair enough to expect Mahrez to go for about £50-60m? He is certainly worth more than £25m. Cheers Jim

Nice one Ed, Moos I dissagree. Germany and Spain went out to so called lesser opposition they would have been on England’s side of the draw. That makes one side of the draw now look easier than the other. Jim

Haha, I was a month old when we won the world cup. I can’t remember much tbh 😉 since then we have completely bottled every tournament we have entered often with much better sides than this one. But we are through to the quarters. One game at the time.
