VVD certainly wasn’t a £60m player last summer but this summer all sense of perspective has gone out of the window. Liverpool need a top centreback more than they need £60m so it’s hard to argue he isn’t worth it in that sense

Not sure about Solanke. Wasn’t he loaned out and didn’t really do much?
I think Lemar, if he eventually joins Arsenal, could be one of the signings of this window. Silva should be a good one too. Agree about Lacazette. He’ll score a few but I don’t think he’s much more than a decent goalscorer in the Defoe/Chicharito mould

Agree Alfie, there will be a few strikers to look out for this season. Each one of the top clubs now has someone capable of scoring 20+ league goals a season.
Chelsea definitely showed last season they could be got at. Will be interesting to see where Morata plays. I read in pre-season he was played on the left which seems a bit odd. Looking forward to the game

Agree about City. I think a lot of teams will be stronger next season. Tonight will probably be a bit of a dead rubber with nothing really to play for. United will no doubt play a much weakened side. I predict a draw.

Yeah Atletico lost this one in the first leg really. They were never going to get a big enough win last night to overturn the deficit.
Goonerfreak, Arsenal seem to be doing their usual late season rally for the top 4. Do you want top 4 yourself or are you one of those Arsenal fans who thinks it may be better to not get top 4 so that Wenger goes (assuming he does)

Spurs have been impressive all season. A lot seem to be saying they bottled it but that was always going to be a tough game and they’ve every reason to be delighted about the progress they’ve made this season. Chelsea were always going to be tough to catch but credit to Spurs for giving them the best challenge. City looked good today. Nailed on for top 4 now

Absolutely Rover, far from over in the title race or the top 4 race. Spurs may just run out of time to catch Chelsea though. Chelsea certainly don’t look like giving up without a fight

Well that wasn’t pretty last night but neither manager will be too disappointed with a draw. I can’t see past Liverpool and City now for top 4. They have much easier run ins

Spurs surprused me tonight. I really thought they’d struggle against Palace but they just keep gettibg those wins. It aint over yet!

I think Spurs may drop points tonight which will give them a real mountain to climb to get back into the title race. It’s good that they’ve managed to keep it interesting but it’s looking unlikely they’ll catch Chelsea. This week will decide a lot I think. Top 4 could look a little clearer if either of the Manchester clubs manage to get a win.

For me Messi is the most naturally talented player we’re probably ever likely to see. Ronaldo is an example of the combination of ridiculously hard work and hunger which most humans just don’t possess. If I had to choose one, I’d probably opt for Messi
