Chelsea should really get a win today. Looking forward to the big one later. Can only see a Liverpool win really which would leave Arsenal with lots of ground to make up. I feel like we’re in for a really exciting title race with no runaway leader. Here’s hoping!
Utd were efficient yesterday but not great. The difference from last season is there seems to be an air of inevitability about these “easier” home games. The same games last season were just wave after wave of attack but it never felt like we would break through

Danny Rose to Chelsea picking up pace. Would seem a logical move. Chelsea need more homegrown players and they seem to be struggling to get Sandro from Juventus. Not sure it fits with Rose’s desire to move back up north though…

Sunday looking good. 2 Northern giants of the game followed by a couple of small teams from the South…
That home loss for Chelsea is looking worse and worse the more you look at their upcoming fixtures. I’m convinced they’ll turn it around pretty quickly but they certainly won’t want to end up 6 points behind the leaders after 2 games.
Spurs Chelsea this weekend then Liverpool Arsenal next. Should be good

Brilliant to see the Huddersfield win so convincingly yesterday. All these record purchases amongst the top teams and multimillion pound squads and yet a little team like Huddersfield can still put on a performance like that. I think their manager could be a man in demand if they manage to have the season I think they can

P.S Just saw that Spurs are after Martial as well from Utd. Would be a good buy for them too. They might finally pull a couple of decent signings out of the bag.
But Barcelona signing Paulinho. What’s going on there?

I like the look of this Sanchez kid who Spurs are targeting. He was very impressive in the Europa League for Ajax. Would be a very good signing for them

Agree Ed. I can’t remember a more exciting opening weekend. All we need now is a 4-4 draw in the late kick off βΊοΈ

Thrilling opening game. Arsenal should still win this really. 4-2 now I reckon

Been a long summer with no football. Always enjoy watching the first game, whoever it is. Surely a formality for Arsenal tonight. Looking forward to seeing Lacazette in the PL to see if he really has what it takes. Leicester should find things a bit easier this year without carrying the pressure of being champions.

Wow, has it been 25 years already? Just reading through those stats on the BBC Sport site brings back so many memories. Cantona, Di Canio, Zola, Ginola, Gazza, Bergkamp etc. There have been so many talented players during that time.
Leicester winning the league was probably one of the highlights of those 25 years but I also loved watching those early Wenger teams full of flair and skill. Those Keane VS Vieira battles. The Shearer goals. The fan rivalries. May the next 25 years be every bit as exciting!

Bit of mind games there from Mourinho on Bale I reckon. Seems like Utd are no longer in for Perisic so a move for Bale is probable but I just can’t see it happening. Think Real will win this one, just. 1-0 Real.

Fair enough Hightown! It’s only really these odd number years where there’s no Euros or World Cup that I feel so starved of proper football enough to be interested in the community shield. It’s rarely a good game anyway!

Poor, poor challenge from Pedro and a well deserved red card. Meaningless match really but for me it showed Chelsea are definitely not as solid as they were at the start of last season. Missing Matic maybe? Bakayoko needs to step up now and claim that spot

So close to a debut goal from Lacazette there. Would have been a nice move. Could go either way this
