Need some quicker passes and better movement. Gallagher has bags of energy but little else. We need more quality in there, especially as we have the majority of the ball. He is better out of possession.

Ironically, in the one competition where VAR seems to be working (especially for offsides) the game the English are in charge of VAR ends up with a shambles.

It’s a really unbalanced squad. Six wingers and one left back who isn’t even fit, and is unlikely to be able to play a few games in a short space of time even if he does recover as he has been out for so long.
Seems Bowen and Eze are first choice subs on the wings, so can’t see Palmer or Gordon starting, but you never know.
Sean – I think it’s as accurate as it will ever be. The hardest thing is actually finding the right tv frame to review as they are so inaccurate for when the pass is made, but that is the same as for all review systems anyway.

Sean, I thought the team was alright in the first half, we just lacked a midfield. It’s not Trent’s fault, he is not a midfielder but Southgate insists on playing him. Second half everyone was awful.
Yeah, Kane initially at fault but a decent midfield would have closed the shot down as well.
Soon as we go one up we sit back. It’s the same old same old. I think he played the same team as they got criticised and he wanted to prove a point. He needs to do something different in the final game but he can’t go for Mainoo as Gallagher has been picked over him twice now. Gallagher has lots of energy but not the same technique. Cannot take the ball on the half turn etc.
We went with no fit left back, we decided not to pick a CM in midfield. We then have no overlapping left fullback and a left winger who isn’t really a winger but likes to link play and play others in. No one is near him. Mainoo in midfield would allow more of those little one twos and neat interplay.
I think we will go through, but we really need to get going soon or it will be an early flight home.

Yes, I think Southgate can be a bit too defensive when we go a goal up, but we had enough to see the match out.
TBH I am glad Bellingham stood up to them, they were clearly leaving a foot in on some of our players, and arriving late in other challenges. Ref should have caught on early to that and sort it out with a few cards.

Should have scored more, Saka excellent first half and then we decided to not pass the ball to him in t he second half. Foden quiet throughout. Not convinced TAA is an international level central midfielder, looks like we are trying to squeeze him in there somewhere. Needed someone who can help Rice out and bridge the gap between Rice and Bellingham (who was masterful). Kane very quiet but very unlucky with his one chance.
Not sure why Saka went off and not Foden and wasn’t sure why Gallagher came on ahead of Mainoo.
There will be sterner tests to come but surely we will gel a bit more.

Sean, I think we all know that the City fans won’t care a bit. They will defend the indefensible. Remember, they are the underdogs, a mere state owned club up against the ‘tyranny of the majority’ which includes Luton fucking Town.
This is what happens when you allow despots into the league, it will eat itself whole.

The despot Man City owners sound like they are upset at democracy in action. Complaining that the PL is run equally by clubs and they are therefore beholden to a majority ruling. How frustrating it must be for them.

City are so confident they have nothing to answer, and so fully complying with the process, that they have taken the PL to court AGAIN over the PL’s own rules.
City are a shareholder in the PL, want to play in the PL but don’t want to abide by it’s own rules.

Yep, more aggressive in defence, but can also play out from the back with greater control. Massive influence for us.

Anthony has to be up there, Lukaku too (nearly £100m for Chelsea and spent more time out on loan), Kepa was a terrible signing for them too. Pepe at Arsenal. Too many bad signings across all teams.
Be interesting to see the amount of money Utd write off this summer when letting players go.
