Zirkzee for Mount and Garnacho for Rashford

That’s handball, he nudges the ball away from the player with the top of his arm.

Never sure about Friday night football. Sets up a great weekend, stress free, if you win, but is a terrible way to start the weekend if you lose.

Be interesting to see what these 11 over-paid players do tonight though. Think I’ll try to enjoy the next two hours before the buggers ruin it!

Yeah, feel sorry for Yoro. Hard enough to make that move at the best of times, especially for one so young, but to now have to make a debut after 3 months out injured can’t be an easy task.

In fairness Sean I don’t think Utd fans think he is the answer, more a stop gap signing who is better than Maguire, Evans, Lindelof. I think Yoro will play, when he is fit, with Martinez. Yoro has the pace De Ligt lacks.

The discussion gets lost when idiots like Chucky make stuff up which clearly isn’t true. De Ligt has question marks over him, two big moves and there are question marks which must mean he is not the player he promised to be when he broke through. I think Utd fans are well aware of that, but when people say he is fourth choice at Bayern when their manager said otherwise, and he was always picked when fit, means any decent discussion on him is wasted as there is no point trying to have a grown up discussion with someone who clearly has no interest in that.

Oh don’t be so sensitive Chucky, I was just pointing out that you were speaking your usual bollocks. I’ve said there are huge question marks over him, but your bollocks is just bollocks.

Even the manager clarified the position before their match with Madrid.

“At the moment, Eric Dier and Matthijs de Ligt are ahead (of Upamecano and Kim). They deserve to continue playing together. Matthijs has given the green light and can play tomorrow,” said Tuchel.

It’s a great story that De Ligt was fourth choice at Bayern, but it just happens to be complete and utter bollocks.

You do realise he was injured for a huge part of the season before Xmas, right? Being injured made it impossible to play matches, that’s the downside of being injured. When fit, post Xmas, he started the majority of matches alongside Dier. None of this should be difficult to understand.

I don’t follow German football but even I know how upset the fans are with this sale.

Gallagher back at Chelsea could be problematic for them. I guess they will be looking to sell him to someone else, unless they do a deal for another player from Atletico, which I think the Gallagher deal hinged upon as they couldn’t afford him otherwise.

You said the other teams got ÂŁ1m max, which I pointed out was wrong as Everton got ÂŁ82m over three years. You are being selective with what period you are quoting figures for.

It was not £1m max, and Everton did claim £82m over three years, not £8m. As I have pointed out to you before. As you say, it’s an indisputable fact and a matter of public record.

The turnover of clubs comes into what can be claimed for covid losses, surely? Everton tried to claim over ÂŁ200m worth of covid losses, on a turnover of less than that amount. Around half of their claim was rejected (as they claimed players were worth less due to covid).

Utd have a much larger turnover.

No worries Sean, it was the Dier usurping De Ligt when they actually played alongside each other which is pure bollocks.

Huge question marks over him, but he is better than what we have, and will be cover until Yoro returns. Personally I’m more worried about his injuries considering our previous business with Bayern.

Cannot see where our goals will come from whilst Hojlund is injured, not sure Zirkzee is the answer, but we did create plenty against City so if that continues we should be ok.

Don’t usually respond to this sort of shit, especially as it’s so frequent from one or two, but you do know this is even more bollocks than the £1m cap on covid losses?

Yes, very pleasing performance for many reasons. Far more and better chances, game should have been over way before City scored with their only shot on target.

The young players for City will be ones to watch.

Sean, it’s a mixture of selling academy players, which is pure profit for PSR calculations and allows them to spend five times that amount in a window, selling hotels back to themselves (which is a flagrant piss take) and they have also sold their women’s team to themselves. They will probably sell themselves to themselves next.

They meet the rules on paper but the ownership structure is clearly putting huge amounts of cash in. The ownership structure is a little fuzzy too as Bhoey is just a front for Clearwater, which is an investment fund, and the feeling is that the Saudi’s are heavily involved. If so they are likely to have sold players to their own Saudi league too.

A bigger problem will be when they try to offload these players as many are on extremely long contracts (to help with FFP and PSR, and whilst FFP have limited their amortisation calculations to 5 years PSR haven’t) so if, say Mudryk were to be sold he would show as a huge loss unless they can recoup the majority of his original transfer fee.

I think they have a huge bump in the road coming, both with the financial rules and also with squad problems with the sheer number of players in the squad (50 plus players who have played for them or their national team are already on their books).

Lot’s of positives for us in that, despite losing. Had some great chances, shame Bruno was offside with that fantastic finish too. Need to perform week in, week out though. Hopefully a few more players will sign before the window shuts and those missing after the Euros come back soon.

A slow day for Chelsea today, with Penders signing as their 8th(!!!) goalkeeper and Neto likely coming in as well.

Most clubs can only work on one deal at a time, which I’ve always felt was a bit lazy, but Chelsea are something else.

You get the feeling they’d be better off complimenting the squad in one or two areas rather than buying loads of players. They desperately need a striker (as do Arsenal) but rather than spend big on one they have brought umpteen squad players for the future.

They may well need to sell more academy players now as they don’t have room in their squad for them to get any decent amount of game time.

As for Fernandez, only Chelsea could make him vice captain after what he did.

Just for the record, Everton claimed ÂŁ82m of covid allowances over three years. ÂŁ1m is a made up number, probably based on the average for one particular year, but is clearly not a maximum. All teams claimed more.

Fingers crossed Sean, i wouldn’t be surprised if he was gone by Xmas!! I think it depends on how many new faces he can bring in as those he has can’t be trusted. He really needs to change the attitude of the players. Be interesting to see if he can bring a wide player in or not.

I’d quite like Mount on the right, as he can cross, but Amad did well at the end of the season. Garnacho and Rashford will squabble over the left wing position but both are overrated imo.

I don’t think he will change his tactics, but I think he can (will) play a higher back line now due to having players fit and new signings.

Martinez back is huge for us. Yoro will probably start, and if we get another CB then he will rotate, but that will mean Maguire is benched and will be second backup is we sign another CB. We will then have more pace which will mean a higher line and less space in between.

Add in Ugarte, should he sign, and there will be more pace on the holding role too.

Some of our issues were lack of press, which is laziness in the players out wide, especially Rashford. Hopefully that will be addressed one way or the other as well. Might even see Mount in the right, who can cross far better than anyone else who played there last season.

Plenty of stuff to solve, but hopefully a couple more players in will go a long way. Best case scenario will see lots of fringe players out and a better squad brought in as a result. Worst case scenario is that players sit on big contracts until they run out. Like martial.
