And that free kick was no where near the foul in the first place, but a lot closer to goal. Awful officiating, didn’t realise that was him.
I am against clubs getting a say into who can officiate their matches, PGMOL need to ensure refs are up to standard regardless of who is playing.
This one is down to VAR too though, they need to be consistent.

Just seen extended highlights, clear pen for handball not given. The player even takes his arm away after the handball.
Bruno taken out by a follow through tackle in the box as well. Casemiro clearly won the ball and then his follow through on the player was dangerous and got a red card for a follow through. Why is the same ref inconsistent in the same match?
VAR should have least said take a look on the monitor at both, as they did for the red.

The handball situation is getting ridiculous now. I cannot see how anyone can be confident they know what is and isnโt handball these days.

Youโll see studs up challenges in every match, nil. His issue was he got the ball and then, for whatever reason, his foot popped up over the ball.
The Southampton player tried to play the ball as Casemiro came in. What I am saying is had Casemiro used more force he would have taken both cleanly, which would have not been deemed a red as he wouldnโt have gone over the ball.
No argument on the red from me, but that sort of jumping in from the side with studs showing is made in each match. Usually the player takes the ball cleaner though and that is what cost Casemiro.

Just seen the Casemiro one. Wouldnโt have been surprised with red or yellow. Seen both given.
Ironically had he used more force, or a straight leg (which is far more dangerous) heโd have just taken the ball and not bounced back over the top of it. Then weโd say how soft the game has become had it been given as a foul.

Not seen it, but heard he got the ball and then the man. Studs up. Wonโt be overturned.
Lots of people complaining the ref was poor today.
Would have taken a point when down to ten so cannot be too upset.

Glad that is over.
Well done and enjoy that Liverpool lads.
Shambles from us second half, needed to score when on top but absolute shambles.

26th February 2023 at 3:30 pm in reply to: Weekend Football – Gameweek 25 & Carabao Cup Final 2023 #204822Ref needs to explain that farce.
Had his card out to book him before the push, then VAR gave a straight red, then ref looked at monitor to change to a yellow. So was that for the original foul (which he had his card out for), or the push in the face.
VAR has been a shambles this year.

24th February 2023 at 7:27 pm in reply to: Weekend Football – Gameweek 25 & Carabao Cup Final 2023 #204746Leicester v Arsenal could be a test for Arsenal. Spurs v Chelsea another big match on Sunday. Chelsea need to start winning a few now. Brought lots of players in, and they need to settle down and get a few wins before the summer.

I think a lot will depend on how much playing last night will affect the players on Sunday. We’ve had far too many games recently and that will catch up on the players at some point.

Lol! Never a pen. How can anyone defend that!
What a second half. Great feeling. Need to win a trophy now.

I think fans of all clubs are exactly the same DH, no one has better fans than anyone else, contrary to popular belief.
I can only speak for myself, and do not want my club to be involved in sportwashing, as other PL clubs are being used, and have been used in the past.

No doubt there will be a Panorama special on the Qatari bid should it look like it will go through. Theyโll get to the bottom of it.
For the record, I am against state ownership but not fussed if a Qatari resident wants to buy the club. Would prefer Ratcliffe, as a local man, but you cannot choose your owners. As a few have said already, I think either way that this is slightly different to other wealthy owners as the club should be able to just spend their own money without the need for owners to pump money in to spend on players.

Met him in a restaurant once a few years ago, discussed VAR. Must have made his day!

I’m not sure anyone knows just yet Sean. He is the chairman of a bank, the money could well come from the bank but I don’t think there is any firm stance on who owns the bank.
