What would you change the current law to be?

6th June 2023 at 11:47 am in reply to: FA Cup 2023 – Manchester City V Manchester United – Saturday 3pm #207294Unlike City fans I can say we got away with one there. However, if that is handball how does that help your case that Grealish’s isn’t?
Ironic that the pundits state that if your arm is close to your chest it’s a penalty, but if your arm is out wide it’s not a penalty.

6th June 2023 at 10:20 am in reply to: FA Cup 2023 – Manchester City V Manchester United – Saturday 3pm #207291I think what did it for Jack was that:
1. He only hand one arm up. The one that was in the flight path of the ball.
2. AWB also had his arms up initially, but lowered them well before he made contact with the ball which then shows that Jack could have done the same._____________________________

6th June 2023 at 10:18 am in reply to: FA Cup 2023 – Manchester City V Manchester United – Saturday 3pm #207290In fairness, VAR didn’t give the handball, and we don’t know what the conversation was between them. It’s not unreasonable to suggest they had a chat and worked out the ref missed it completely. It wasn’t clear from the original camera angle, and he was blocked by some of the players.
Once he goes over to the monitor it is ultimately his decision.
I’m not against handball for making yourself bigger, I must be one of the few who think it is handball if a defender blocks a shot with his hands if they are out wide. So unless they allow that I cannot see how they can make the law any clearer or simpler. Any further tweak, which includes making yourself bigger by having your arms out, unless you wear light blue, will clearly make it more complex. They will need to include a dulex paint list with what shades of blue are exempt.

6th June 2023 at 8:50 am in reply to: FA Cup 2023 – Manchester City V Manchester United – Saturday 3pm #207288Adlab, you are wishing he backed your view and therefore clinging to a headline, without understanding what that headline actually says. You are conflating someone saying VAR should only intervene with clear and obvious errors with ‘it wasn’t handball’ he clearly goes on to state that it is subjective and also said “Was it correct in law? Perhaps if he’s [Coote] is refereeing his opinion is [Grealish] has made himself bigger, and his arms are in the air, and it is an unnatural position.”
Clearly if he also says the law needs to change to clear handball up then he is not saying that under the current laws of the game it is not a penalty – otherwise the laws wouldn’t need to change!

4th June 2023 at 2:55 pm in reply to: FA Cup 2023 – Manchester City V Manchester United – Saturday 3pm #207263I don’t disagree, in principle. PPT wanted numbers to back the claims, so I gave them to him as he didn’t realise google did that sort of thing.
What is interesting though is the gulf between the top four. And who are second on the list, Fulham, West Ham and Brentford are joint second with 8.
Forest, Brighton and Leicester have 6. As do Spurs.
Utd are joint second from bottom, so maybe there is a more nuanced answer to it all.

4th June 2023 at 1:14 pm in reply to: FA Cup 2023 – Manchester City V Manchester United – Saturday 3pm #207257Paul, a quick google search showed that City had the most pens in the PL this season with 10.
Compare that to the top four;
Arsenal who have a similar style of play, possession stats and also are in and around the oppo box had 4.
Utd had 3 and Newcastle who roll around on the floor a lot as soon as someone goes near them were awarded 6.

4th June 2023 at 10:40 am in reply to: FA Cup 2023 – Manchester City V Manchester United – Saturday 3pm #207246Also very disappointing that the officials are still allowing City to foul in the transition period with no consequence. Completely disrupts the attacking team’s momentum going forward.

4th June 2023 at 10:30 am in reply to: FA Cup 2023 – Manchester City V Manchester United – Saturday 3pm #207245Congrats to City, we were in it for all of 12 seconds when a hoof downfield undid our defence.
We lacked the quality when in the final third, and that needs to be addressed. Bruno, for all his qualities gives the ball away far too easily.
Can’t see the complaints on the penalty, clear as day, all the Utd players near the incident were calling for it. How the linesman missed it is a mystery. Hands clearly raised and blocked the cross. VAR usually goes with the original decision so when something like that gets overturned there can be no complaints.
Shame we couldn’t nick one at the end, but our bench was lacking quality with the injuries to Martial and Anthony and the poor replacement brought in for Ronaldo. Lots of work to do over the summer and I think they need to be clever in the market and go for cheaper players and free transfers (would much prefer Tielemens on a free over Mount any day of the week).

Wow, 4-4 now. Slightly meaningless game and not wanting to cause a riot on here but would love to see a winner from the Saints simply as they are saying goodbye to the PL today.

Adlab, in all seriousness, put rivalry aside, pep’s comments need to be called out by City fans. If I do it I am biased etc, everyone needs to call him out otherwise they are part of the problem. Racism is not something that affects other clubs only.
All footy fans are the same, none are better than others, but that can and needs to change. Someone needs to point out where their club, players or managers can improve.
Clearly Pep is a decent bloke, poor choice of words or unconscious racism, whatever you prefer, but it needs city fans to call it out as anyone else doing it is dismissed as jealous or biased.

Ironically Adlab, the good management at Bayern was also at Chelsea this season. Maybe a plan, decent owners, patience and luck is also required.

Never expected CL, especially after the first two games. Great achievement for Ten Hag, with a trophy. Now he needs to build on that.

Normal people! What a twat.
Spain has a massive racism problem and Tebas is clearly part of that. He should have resigned or been sacked by now.

Absolutely, Lucky. But I, probably like most people and especially like all of the City fans at the time, took their statement regarding comprehensive and irrefutable evidence to mean comprehensive and irrefutable evidence that they did not do what the PL are saying they did, not comprehensive and irrefutable evidence that the rules didn’t exist!
Just seems a massive let down and that there will be an asterisk next to the trophies.

Yep, they will fight this as hard as they can, as would anyone, but really surprised the best they can come up with after saying they had comprehensive and irrefutable evidence is that the rules didn’t apply back then.
They are not saying they didn’t break the rules, just that the rules didn’t apply.

Reports suggest that City’s “comprehensive body of irrefutable evidence that exists in support of its position.” is that the rules didn’t apply back then. They claim these are new rules and shouldn’t be backdated. Comprehensive and irrefutable! 🤣
