Sorry Lucky, not sure I was as clear as I should have been.
For accounting purposes Chelsea can offer 8 year deals, but for UEFA FFP purposes UEFA will amortise the values over a maximum of 5 years, regardless of the length of the deal. (Rule G.3.4 paragraph c).
The PL have more relaxed FFP rules than UEFA but one of the rules they have is limiting the base growth of player wages. This will include the bonuses paid for CL qualification and any bonuses for winning trophies etc.
As for your shirt sponsorship, the fee is being queried by the PL (due to potential ownership interference) and is going through an independent panel to agree a fair value.

I thought FIFA changed the rules to stop the 8 year amortisation trick?
The wages are the harder thing to cover as the PL FFP rules only allows a small percentage rise in wages each year unless it is covered by commercial growth.

The rumour is that Chelsea are also owned by the Saudi’s. No idea how that helps them navigate FFP unless they are doing a City and inflating income with back dates deals and lies.

I think Kane will stay and leave on a free in the summer, Levy will cry himself to sleep and pretend he would rather have his goals for a year than the money. When he really couldn’t care less if his goals gets them fifth or tenth.

Does that mean Kane has rejected Bayern?
Would Bayern have kept bidding if he didn’t want to go? Pretty sure most transfers have been tapped up way before they go through. Maybe Bayern have £200m to spend?
Maybe I know nothing!

Enjoyed it too Sean, and I agree it will be hassle if he returns. If we had someone as back up to Hojlund, or a £60m+ offer for Greenwood I think the club would feel that way too. As it is, I agree with the Ed on how the club have acted throughout this, and unless they get a decent offer for him or a loan deal which he accepts their hands are tied somewhat, as they also have a duty of care for an employee who may be a complete arsehole, but unless their investigation can prove things the police cannot then they cannot do much more than integrate him back with the squad.

Sean, my feeling is that the papers cannot accuse him of anything as he has not been convicted. They cannot call him a rapist, as he will sue. They have no victim giving they side. For example, in the Depp and Heard case Heard made the allegations. Papers could then report it and they used her as a witness when he sued.
They cannot do that this time as the missus is still with Greenwood.
On top of that, the papers would need to respect her right to privacy as well. Different times now for the media, despite the video.
Just my views though, and I could be completely wrong!
What the papers could hammer him on though is reporting that away fans are singing songs and what those songs accuse him of, and go with that angle, but I think they will still need to be very careful.

I see what you are saying, Sean and Ed, but I think it will be opposition fans who give him stick. The press won’t, as he has not been found guilty of anything, and seemingly has got back together with the woman in question.
The fans will be on his back, and I think Utd fans are split on it too.
I think Partey was charged, and is waiting a court date but that one was kept out of the papers, unlike Mendy of City, so the papers haven’t even named him. Arsenal tried to sell him this summer and it seems other clubs won’t sign him until that one is sorted.

Sorry Sean, missed the Greenwood question.
I think it’s 50/50 on him. He will get dogs abuse all season and he is very young so it will be touch and go if he gets over it enough to play to his level.
If he can return to something like his level he will score plenty of goals. Though if he returns it will be a phased return imo.
I think they will announce the plan soon.
Chucky, AWB was out of favour at the start of the season, but came back and retained his place. He will start much more regularly this season and is likely to be first choice again. As everyone says, best one on one defender in the league. If we can see that it is likely that the coaches at the club do too.

Tend to agree with Sean that some are harsh on Utd. Weak fullbacks defensively is not something I see in Shaw and AWB.
Cannot even remember a player beating AWB one on one. His tackling stats have to be the best in the league. Obviously major problems going forward, but that doesn’t make him weak defensively.

In fairness Mikus Utd conceded the same number of goals as Arsenal, and a quarter of those came in two games so if Onana settles it will be the other end where we struggle. Juries out on Hojlund, on one hand he has to be better than Martial and Weghorst but on the other he is still a huge gamble.
Greenwood situation will be interesting though as he can score. Hopefully Anthony settles down a bit and finds some consistency and Sancho gets his Dortmund form back but a lot of ifs and buts.
Cannot see past City for the title, unless the FFP ruling comes out with some draconian penalties. Heard that Chelsea are in trouble with illegal payments to players too.
I think city, Arsenal, Utd and Chelsea will be the top four though.
Relegation could be tight this year, can see forest being dragged into the list which Sean gave above.

It’s one of those things that is not even a debate. Wait to one of your own players wants to leave, like Kane, and an offer not deemed acceptable is made….

Because they value him higher than what Liverpool are currently offering. It’s really entitled to think clubs need to accept whatever offer your club is making for a player.

Annoyingly football will never copy rugby despite rugby having a much better ‘VAR’ and clock timing system (and general respect for officials etc). Football is full of arrogant people who think they know better than the best of other sports.

Not sure Lavia bid has gone through, yet.

Not convinced by Hojlund but time will tell. Not many proper 9’s out there anymore. Kane will score more goals, way more, but is not a line leading forward. Drops deep very often, which he is great at. Can see him staying until Xmas when spurs could look to cash in on him, or leave for free at the end of the season.
Mbappe on loan for a season would be a great signing for someone.

I don’t mind time being added on for time wasting etc. it should stop the Newcastle’s of the world. However I do wonder if teams will hold back longer in games knowing there will be 10 mins minimum of added time.
Cards for waving imaginary cards are long overdue. They threatened it once but never really saw it through.
Sadly VAR will still be inconsistent and cause the usual frustrations. They should have sorted that out over the summer.

Can’t see it ending well. No idea how high on the original replacement list he would have been.
Can see a load of managers wanting his old job as it guarantees trophies, so hard to judge anyone in that league.
