Terrible decision to award that penalty.
ETH has to go now, absolutely no luck, but the shambles has to end. Bring in a manager who calls out the officials for what they are.

Terrible decision.
Hand ball by Ings first, then clearly a footballing incident. How can an official who is paid by City officiate a Utd game?
How can that be a clear and obvious error? The ball wasn’t under control by anyone and both teams were going for it when two players came together. How can Cootes claim he didn’t see the incident when it was in a challenge for the ball? Took him twenty reviews to see what is meant to be clear and obvious, but couldn’t spot a clear handball.
Such a low bar for a foul, which could have easily been a free kick for Utd.

Seen them given either way, if that was Utd scoring it would have been disallowed and everyone would be saying rightly so.
Refs will be hard to justify decisions in the upcoming weeks if they are now inconsistent.
City could have no complaints if it was ruled out, it wasn’t and now it’s up to refs to be consistent. As I say, seen them given and seen them not given. But there was a push, which did make the goalie off balance (and he couldn’t recover and make what should have been a simple save), and he was also offside.

Mmm, silva clearly interferes with play, pushes the goalie, and is offside to boot. Dart arts strike again. Hope the ref isn’t in the paid by city owner club.

Massive cop out to blame the medical team for de ligt, head cuts are notoriously difficult to stem. Clearly they would have done a stich or staple at HT. he was bleeding for a while and the ref choose 30 seconds before the end of the half to get him off the pitch. He could have turned a blind eye (as he had for the prior 15 mins).
By the letter of the law (if you exclude allowing him to play on with blood streaming for 15 mins) then he did really well. Common sense says he mucked up. Just wait 30 secs or allow him to be treated. He was ready to come back on but wasn’t allowed to do so. The ref shouldn’t have waited the first time, so it’s hardly as if he knew the rules anyway. Just wait the 30 secs to HT then there is no issue.
One of those where you claim it’s the letter of the law if it goes in your favour but would be upset if it went against you.
No idea why people have a go at the medics. Seems a massive cop out to blame them.
What’s the rule on concussion subs? Could they claim a concussion check and do a temporary sub?

Football style wasn’t the best, but hopefully he picks the best team rather than the best 11 players regardless of positions.

Not having a go at the players, or teams, but that England defending is exactly what I mean when I say no players will look good if the team lets players run at the defence.
Absolute shambles for both goals, which would not happen at their club levels as they would have more protection in front of them.
So glad Maguire wasn’t involved as we all know what the papers and forums would have been full of if he was out there.

The irony being that Chelsea have most to lose with the shareholder loan rule.
But it was a massive victory for the sovereign wealth fund knowing that the mighty Brighton have to pay full interest on owner loans. They must be able to sleep a little better a night not having to worry about the likes of Brighton taking their spot at the top.
Hold on, aren’t City pro owner investment? Upsetting the established elite.
It’s almost as if the anti tyranny tyrant has stamped his feet and acted tyrannically because he wasn’t allowed to cheat.

Thanks for that Rover, very insightful and completely impartial coming from the chief City correspondent at the MEN who did not copy and paste from the City press release at all.
BTW, the PL clubs were always footing the bill. They own equal shares in the PL after all. And as I mentioned this is probably City’s greatest chance of ‘winning’ (scaring the clubs into submission with veiled threats of drawn out and very expensive litigation).

The tribunal ruled that shareholder loans should not be excluded from the scope of APT rules and that some amendments made in February should not be retained. I realise City are saying that as some parts were found to be unlawful that all of it is unlawful, but that doesn’t follow through.
City are trying to claim that as shareholder loans needs to be added, and as adding them in will be problematic for clubs that it is likely that they won’t backdate the rule – that seems fair (as you you can’t break a rule which didn’t exist and be retrospectively punished for it later). City think that as the PL won’t re-evaluate finances they should cancel all evaluations, but surely the common man would think if you have knowingly and wilfully broken the law that in one thing, but breaking a law which didn’t exist is another?
It’s a long shot by City to think the PL will have to drop the case against them unless they punish clubs (who stuck by the rules as they were written) with shareholder loans which retrospectively would make them breach new rules. Their only real hope is that the threat of further litigation puts the PL off of taking the case forward. Then City can claim total innocence, despite clearly not being the case.
What makes you think it was a real smack in the teeth for the PL?

City didn’t win. They won two quite minor points and lost many, many others. One point only came in Feb. They still have to use fair market value in sponsorships, which is what the PL wanted.

What a waste of 90 minutes. Awful stuff, no idea what to do going forward, again. All the attackers play for themselves.

Another appalling performance by the referee. Only books or penalises Utd players.

Abject humiliation coming.
No holding player at all, let alone two in there to help each other.
No new signings starting, so another wasted transfer window.
