CM – that call on Hojlund was one of the worst that weekend, but was overlook when Webb did his review as they preferred to go over the offside and penalty overrule at the other end.

Amazed it wasnโ€™t spoken about more tbh, but some of the press coverage this season has been agenda driven nonsense.

Sean – yeah, not sure how he didnโ€™t get carded for that. Running at goal and pulled back. At least you got the penalty though!

This is the sort of thing VAR should be used to re-referee. Two similar fouls but only one given. If one was then both were.

Seems to also revolve around whether it was a denial of a clear goalscoring opportunity, which is highly subjective.

Sean – I didnโ€™t see it, but if it was the penalty then itโ€™s the double jeopardy rule. Brought in this season I think. Now they say the penalty is enough a punishment if there was an attempt to play the ball. If no attempt to play the ball then ref can card the player.

Didnโ€™t see it so canโ€™t say for sure.

More shots, more shots on target, more possession, more cornersโ€ฆ.

Same old for us, oppo score with first ever shot and we then srughle.

Utd fans donโ€™t want Taylor (City fan) reffing Utd.

I am surprised they have decided a neutral ref cannot officiate Liverpool all season though. When did they give in to clubs who complain about officials? If they are making out he is not good enough then surely he is not good enough for everyone. If they are giving in to Liverpool they are weak.

I tend to agree, but I think it’s a grey area. I donโ€™t think the players have given up. I think they have had poor performances, I think their heads have gone when behind and I think there have been some very tight, marginal calls which has cost us. Add on top of that individual school boy errors.

At Bayern, great start from us, school boy error from the keeper, then a soft as you like, never going to be given again, penalty cost us a win.

Last night a crazy error cost us, and some wasteful finishing.

The numerous VAR calls which have, rightly or wrongly, gone against us in the league. Almost one per match, and many have been in stark contradiction of decisions in earlier or preceding weeks.

Fine margins at this level and whilst we have not been good enough we have had tight calls go against us.

The structure is there, and will improve when we get a LB back fit, our RB back fit and Martinez back fit. We have missed a couple of wingers for off field issues. Mount and Hรธjlund being injured early in or from the start.

So I do agree that some performances have been way below the standard expected, but I donโ€™t think we are a million miles away. I wouldnโ€™t replace Ten Hag either.

It was so quick as it was so obvious Nil, you must be able to see that? He was clearly onside, they saw that quickly but misunderstood the onfield call and therefore miscommunicated the VAR decision back.

Had they have spent two minutes looking at that they would been slaughtered as well, for slowing the game down and sucking the emotion out of football.

VAR needs to change, but the last thing it needs is to slow down some more.

And an actual LB at LB would allow us to have Amrabat in midfield in a holding two alongside Casemiro, which gives us a platform defensively. We need a run of form, set up more solidly and that will happen. Wonโ€™t be pretty but effective,

Yeah, Evans would be a better choice than Amrabat. He takes up a CM role far too often, which causes confusion and then admired his own pass rather than step up with the defensive line today which played the oppo onside.

Ironically, with him at LB and Rashford at LW (not the bloody striker! ๐Ÿ˜‚) we then have no left footed players down the left which causes issues going forward on the overlap and first time crossing.

Evans, or I am hoping we can recall Fernandez or sign a LB on a free from somewhere.

Also, they did draw the line and so the sky one was just the sky picture which they make up themselves but no twat at sky thought to point that out.

Hopefully that will kick start his season. Switching from left wing to right wing worked a treat. Strange place to play your striker, but there you go.

Well it clears up a lot of nonsense. Itโ€™s all human and not computer. Human chooses the frame to use, human chooses the point of the body to draw the lines from.

Choosing the frame in tight calls is essential and was meant to be 100% correct as computer chosen, but thatโ€™s clearly not true.

Chucky, for someone who watches more of our games than most I am surprised you think he is a striker! He has played left wing for a number of seasons now. I thought that was fairly obvious. Hojlund is the striker and Weghorst was brought in last year to replace Ronaldo. He occasionally plays as a striker if everyone else is injured, but he will play on the wing again tonight, and at the weekend and next week…

Varane is pretty shit as a striker though, needs to get in the box more.

Ryan Giggs was considered decent by most, apart from certain Spurs fans.
                                        672 appearances and 114 goals.

Rashford has made 246 appearances and scored 77 goals. So is doing rather well, especially considering the success of the team in Gigg’s era.

The basic concept of VAR means it is set up to BE inconsistent. They have said time and again that they don’t want to re-referee matches using VAR. They want to check for any reason why the initial call can be allowed and will only flag clear and obvious mistakes. So something subjective in minute one can be called completely differently to the exact same subjective incident 5 minutes later.

VAR needs to change to re-referee incidents, which will not 100% rule out inconsistencies or mistakes but it gives it a much better chance of doing so.

He seems to try too hard when he has the ball, the simple pass is on to a team mate in a better position, but he will try and beat the man and end up losing the ball. I wonder if he wants to kick start his season with a wonder goal?

However, there is no excuse for the lack of press and the lack of running back at times.
