The angle for the ball means it’s not clear as you need to take the curvature of the ball into consideration. So I can see why they played on. However, it was exactly the same for Utd v Brighton and VAR overruled the ref and gave it as out. That is ridiculous and should not happen.

Clear push, no idea why that wasn’t seen.

Handball, but I think (and the laws change too often) the latest is that it’s only overruled by VAR if the goal scorer hand balls it, not the player in the build up / no idea why they think that’s acceptable though.

Offside – was at a mates house and plenty thought it was offside as similar to a spurs one a couple of weeks ago.

Goalkeeper in front of the ball, so it’s a strange situation for the linesman. VAR should know the intricacies though. Don’t understand why they don’t have a camera angle for that. It was all over the telly so they must have been able to do something.

Not sure Sean, you can’t tell unless you have a camera directly above it. It was given out for a similar situation earlier this season though, so you would expect some consistency.

So, ball was over the line like at Brighton, not given and a two arm push in the back is now not a foul, whereas a finger tip on the shoulder is a foul if the VAR ref is paid by the City owner two weeks before reffing a City game.

The goals were ridiculous. Started well but didn’t create chances and then played schoolboy individual stuff.

Garnacho should have played Reguilón in, but didn’t and was then far too easily dispossed. I genuinely think that I could have taken the ball off of Garnacho there as the RB was so far on top of him and didn’t even flinch when Reguilón went on teh overlap. Then Mount should have taken a booking, but let the RB run into all of that space.

Dalot decides he is not going to track back, why would he?, he is only the RB after all. Then second half we start well but get dispossed in the middle, might have been given as a foul, might not, and they score an easy third.

He needs to make us hard to play against, and offer something going forward, but Rashford is out of form and Anthony isn’t a professional footballer. Feel for Hojlund, big lad, strong and quick and we won’t cross the ball to him or look to play him in either.

Torn about ETH, does look out of his depth and is too stubborn, however the players have to step up and work hard. We only start to play when a goal down and then we leave bigger gaps to exploit.

Absolutely abject performance last night. Not surprised anymore. Not sure the manager helps. Should play two holding players to stay more compact. We’re not scoring goals, so need to stay compact at the back and stop the breakaway goals. To many lazy runners, no idea why Dalot lets players run past him when facing his own goal. Casemiro and Amrabat have to start. Drop Anthony who really does offer nothing.

If they are going to give holding in the area, then do all holding. Rhodri wasn’t Hojlund’s man but Stones had ‘fouled’ Maguire and so he couldn’t pick him up. Shouldn’t have people on UAE’s payroll anywhere near City.

Sean – I think refs are poor now as they ‘rely’ on the safety net of VAR. They think VAR will correct mistakes so let a lot more go, but VAR then only corrects clear and obvious errors and won’t pick up little inconsistencies. They are so used to not making a decision that they have now got into a habit of letting things go.

I think they are so adverse to criticism that they won’t make any decisions.

Not sure if you are in to rugby, but the same is happening in the RWC. They let this new bunker ref make the decisions. Despite seeing the incident clearly on the big screen they will give a yellow and send it to review. Sadly the bunker ref is inconsistent and the decisions have been appallingly inconsistent as a result. Most of the time the ref will even say, clear contact to the head, no mitigation, should be red but we will give a yellow and review. So you know exactly what the ref thinks, but the bunker ref will then keep a yellow for whatever reason.
