Alfie.
Lets qualify that as a”football business” The only owners that take money out … are?On a much more important matter we should discuss Fellaini’s haircut and its impact when he is brought on.

Oz yob.
Take your point.
Tell me how else could ANY club break the UEFA cartel without MASSIVE investment ie City and PSG.
LIVERPOOL were luck to sell Coutinho for so much. But they invested all to catch up.
Wouldnt you rather have more clubs competing? Yes City are good now but in two or three years it maybe somebody else.It is impossible to generate sufficient funds organically without going into massive debt (which doesnt seem to count!).
There is a UEFA cartel and as with ALL industries members look to fight off the oppo. Just look at big business mergers of smaller players to gain market share. This has happened since the middle ages! By the way this was part of my Economics degree thesis nearly 50 years ago and nothing has changed.
FFP in its form is anti competetive and needs changing but it should allow new players into the market. For example if a wealthy individual bought Everton say, why shouldnt they be able to invest? Or if a Chinese billionaire bought say Spurs why shouldnt they buy world class players?
It is business and thats it. Not the game we grew up with.

Alfie
Under SAF Utd were always strong favourites most years.
Arsenal and/or Chelsea were there too.
One or two reversals is all it takes for any team to drop to third or fourth. The league is far from over. And that is the truth. Injuries happen. We have been without KDB all season. Overall he has been our best player. Ok we’ve done well without him but we could find Aguero or Stones or Silva injured etc etc. You never know what happens!_____________________________

Great comments chaps. Well balanced.
Unlike the press articles in relation to the Der Spiegel stuff.
The cartel is worried about what may come out!_____________________________

So Pep is going to be fined for hoping the referee has a good game!
Guardiola had said: “He is going to try to do the best job like we try to as managers and football players.“Mr Taylor is going to try to have a good game. The important thing is to focus on our game and, of course, knowing which opponent we are going to face and that is all.
“Hopefully he can make good decisions for both sides and it will a good game. All England and all Europe is going to watch us. That is the most important pleasure.”
Absolutely shocking dear oh dear. And it wasnt sarcastic!

First thing I must say is I thought the referee had an excellent game despite my pre-match worries. The only things you could question would be possible yellows for Fellaini and Fernandinho. The penalty was correct.
For Jose to say Utd lost because of three mistakes really lacks generousity.

Sean. Im sure you are happy with the three points. No surprise though. We made 10 changes and won easily. You can only play whats in front of you!

Paxton. You are right but some players have more of a reputation for going down easily!

Bit lucky there Sean. I agree. Teams at the bottom dont get the decisions. They never have.

Problem refs have with Lamela is that he dives at any opportunity. If you dont like dives – falls over. Classic case of the boy who cried wolf. In this instance the game should have stopped but referees know the actors and probably knowing the player played on.
Its no win!_____________________________

My guess is that this is old hat and taken account of largely in the settlemen Also why did City sign a confidentiality agreement. Its only a guess but I suspect UEFA have broken competition law which would really open Pandora’s box in respect of cartel arrangements but we will see

Nine. My understanding is that information true or false is obtained illegally it cannot be admissable unless it is absolutely needed in a criminal case or where there is major public interest rather than a commercial environment.

As some of you know from old discussions, I am a Chartered Accountant and during my career I was a tax specialist. I worked mainly in London and dealt with many very large organisations.
If HMRC had a sniff they would be there. They have special industry units.I think City have probably sailed close to the wind but probably not crossed the line on FFP AS IT WAS.
There is a whiff here of worry by some clubs that they cant compete. Anything from La liga =pot and kettle.
Rules can so easily be circumvented legally. Sadly this is not about morals.
I recall doing many assignments moving companies into low tax areas not being subjected to UK tax and avoiding UK anti-avoidance AND TOTALLY LEGAL under UK tax law.
All clubs use schemes. Many footballers are “employed” by image rights companies set up in the Isle of Man etc. I could name several I know about. They in effect paid 2% tax by way of employee loan schemes…etc etc etc.
The problem is not City it is the stupid FFP scheme specifically set up to stop the challenge to the established elite. It would never work as it is anti- competetive.
This is sounding like a lecture, But believe me FFP as set up would have exposed UEFA in the courts. So easy it would have been embarrassing

Its time that everybody recognises this is a money busines. Any attempt to block market conditions will create instability. If an individual decides to invest he can lose or gain. There are now many super rich owners, some invest some dont eg Arsenal eg Spurs eg etc etc.
The so called elite under the corrupt Platini tried to create an unbreachable oligopoly of clubs. It failed. City and PSG are always going to be targets because of their ownership. After all they are not WASPs. Its a surprise Utd and Chelsea havent been targeted too based on their ownnership.
FFP in this form was never going to succeed as it is anti-competetive in its nature.
I still think something -which is fully transparent- is needed but not the biased ffp crap.
