One last word. If the Salah penalty was a one off so be it. It happens.
Sadly its not a one off with him……is it?_____________________________

Mak. Wrong decisions today. Thought the penalty given was wrong and I thought Liverpool had a good shout for two others.
The referees need help. Im sure there will be iffy decisions tomorrow too whoever they favour.
VAR is certainly not perfect and some decisions will still be wrong but the fact of it being there will be a good warning to all divers in all teams when they get a yellow. But we will get more correct decisions than we have now._____________________________

Watching the Liverpool game. Palace will be kicking themselves if they lose.
Milner rightly sent off there!
I do wish Salah would pack it up diving.
I think Liverpools name is on the cup. You have to have good fortune to win. We must again win tomorrow.

What is interesting is that whatever figures you believe shirt sales indicate some support. What I found interesting was last summer we cruised the Greek islands and on Mykonos and Santorini I noted with pride and pleasure local kids wearing City shirts. 10 years ago no chance. It takes time, expense and continued success for glory hunters to attach themselves.

I thought about Leeds, Forest etc but I feel that one significant component is how the club performs in the modern era which means the EPL. Forest have a history. The last time they won the league was 77/78. 41 years ago. Newcastle very limited trophies. Leeds of course better but most success in the 60s and70s. But yes they were and will be a big club.
In the context of generalities there are only two really big clubs Utd and Liverpool. Others like City and Chelsea are closing in but a long way to go. A good team is transitory and doesnt on its own make a big club. For example City imo will need to keep this up for at least five more years to really be a big club even if they are one of the top half dozen teams in Europe.I think one could debate this forever and never agree. Just like Brexit!

18th January 2019 at 6:55 pm in reply to: Spectators providing support/atmosphere reflecting spirit of the club #31564What is a big club? Of course it depends on your point of view. I believe it depends on:
– history
– trophys won in recent seasons
– genuine local and international support
– finance and wealth of ownership
– attractivness of football
– where top players want to play
– club infrastructure
– depth of squad
– academy players
– international player representation
– ease of sponsorshipTo me,in England
1 Utd
2 Liverpool
Both due to a glittering history
Then come Arsenal, City and ChelseaI dont think Spurs are there yet.

I mentioned the issue of injuries in an earlier post. Kane out until March will hamper Spurs a bit. He is crucial to them. Injury can happen even in training so you never can tell.
Old cliche it is but it is important for any team to just play the next match and not think about future fixtures. It is clear that is drummed into the players by Pep and I am sure by Klopp and Poch.
I still think it is Liverpools to lose. If we were 4 points ahead I would fancy us strongly…but I always think of Gerrards slip and the Aguerrooooo moment. You can never tell._____________________________

Nine. You are right. We have done well to maintain challenges on four fronts.

A long way to go yet. Liverpool have it to lose now but they have not yet had a number of injuries to key players, all at once, which does happen.
What would concern me if I was a Liverpool fan would be the performance in the cup without key players. They might be lucky as Leicester were with no injuries who knows. But as fans will know all too well strange events can happen eg Gerrard’s slip.
Makes for an interesting battle._____________________________

Sending off ruined the game!
Bit of poetic justice based on the away game at Wolves.

What a strong bench! Aguero, KDB, Mahrez, Gudogan, Delph, Otemendi! (and Muric).
Hope we can win and change for the next game.
Would have started KDB?_____________________________
