The point on CL 2019, why was the hand raised? Whether this was a signal of “help needed”, that in itself Risks Handball. No fault of Sadio Mane; he’s in an attacking frame of mind, so that type of ‘Pitstop’ in the eyes of the law defines a Penalty Kick.

Not really debated, more just moaned about still by Chelsea fans.
As I said earlier giving the goal was the best decision the ref could of given Chelsea. If not a goal then a penalty and clear red card for Cech’s clumsy challenge on Baros I think it was. You’d then have 85 minutes with a man down and probably a goal down too but instead it was kept even numbers. I’m just thankful Gudjohnsen missed that last minute sitter ๐

Correct. It should have been a red card and penalty instead of a goal.

Exactly. He is holding his arm out an awful long time for someone who is apparently pointing. He’s clearly doing this to block the channel. If people can’t accept this then that’s fine. The fact of the matter is, it was as stonewall penalty and we also outplayed them in the match.
For Spurs it is a shame because they absolutely collapsed immediately after. They came so ,close to winning a massive trophy and I think they would have maintained a high standard in the following season, had they achieved this but that doesn’t change the fact that they were not good enough and Liverpool were better on the day and fully deserved to win the CL.
It does get a little bit boring to hear all of the excusing for almost every single thing we’ve won, or came close to winning.
When we won the Cl in 2005, we we somehow fluked our way through all those great teams. Juve, Chelsea, Milan.
The very next season, we fluked the FA Cup against West Ham, who basically had 3 decent efforts at goal, scoring them all.
Rodgers nearly season is all about Gerrard making a simple mistake.
This CL win was somehow undeserved? We didnt make your player do something insane. His arm was in an unnatural position and deep down, you know this. We scored another later on too.
Our PL win is maybe the only one where there isn’t some clear objection.

Your unbiased love for your club is legendary, Mak, but if you think whacking a ball into somebody’s armpit to win a penalty as there was ‘nothing else on’ is an ‘okay’ tactic, then your love for the game itself has to be questioned.

threeps, I wasn’t claiming whether it was or wasn’t a goal just that Nil claiming that it was a “CLEAR GOAL” in capital letters was foolish because it was anything but clear that the ball had crossed the line. I accept that the Referee may have awarded a penalty and sent Cech off had he not awarded the goal but that’s another situation.
It’s still being written about as this extract from an article in Goal.com from June 2021 illustrates “The referee awarded the goal, but even on video playback, the angles of the camera make it difficult to see if the ball truly crossed the line.”
But maybe the writer was a Chelsea fan.๐
Far to long ago to be worrying about it either way imo whether you’re a Chelsea fan or a Liverpool fan.

Ah banjo you the most bias poster on here when it comes to your club.not sure how you can question mak who is a very objective poster The ref gave it. His arm was up. Soft but given many times. Spurs never turned up yet agsin a final. Thatโs what I would be questioning. Spurs were terrible. Poch got it wrong playing an unfit Kane and wr strolled through that game really
