I’ll start this one, as it’s only a few weeks away (and I’ll promise to try and keep to actual football related matters, and leave the politics out of it!)
So, apart from the weather, the total lack of local interest by all accounts, we also face the prospect of more than a few teams already missing a few players, and the odds are a few more might disappear over the next week or two…
As for winners, I’m not going to be surprised to see a bit of a “dark-horse” this year, squads and playing conditions are all over the place.
I think the winners are going to be the “smartest” team this time around, not the best team, and for some reason I kinda think Belguim, with a very experienced team, are going to do very well indeed.

4th November 2022 at 11:59 am #200517Ye no real interest in it at the minute chum. Hopefully that changes when it starts. Absolutely corrupt as anything that itβs being held here. Ridiculous. It is what it is and hopefully itβs a good tournament
Iβd like to see Argentina win it for messi.
Iβve no idea who is good or bad.

4th November 2022 at 12:07 pm #200518Out of obligation I guess I’ll cheer on Germany if I can be bothered to watch any of it without feeling like a massive hypocrit.
Chucky you mention Belguim as a dark horse? Surely they are one of the best at the moment and one of the fsvorites. Rather boringly I would predict France as the winners however.
England would be up their if they didn’t have the most boring manager ever to set foot on this planet. Have some very strong players minus perhaps at centr back and goalie.
I’m sure nine will be along very shortly with the latest odds…

4th November 2022 at 12:23 pm #200520Belgium definitely won’t win it with Martinez at the helm. I think he’s more of a problem for them than Southgate is for England and the records of each probably back that up. England won’t win it. I like Southgate. He’s done a lot to turn around England’s fortunes after the Hodgson debacle. Ultimately, he’s just not talented enough as a coach, though, and that will always mean we won’t quite make it over the line at a tournament.
I fancy Spain this time. France will be tough but they tend to fall out at tournaments so will probably not win it.

4th November 2022 at 12:24 pm #200522Actually surprised at Belguim being so unfancied at 14/1. Did they miss the boat with their golden generation?

4th November 2022 at 12:25 pm #200523I think they made a massive mistake having Martinez to oversee such a talented bunch.

4th November 2022 at 12:27 pm #200524They’re not anywhere near as strong these days. That golden generation are all getting on now. Lukaku a shadow of the player he was. Fellaini and Witsel both getting on. Hazard rubbish these days. Is he injured or just not getting games? KDB is the only Belgian I’d have in the England side to be honest.

4th November 2022 at 12:55 pm #200526Don’t fancy France at all, their squad is a bit “injured” at the moment by all accounts.
I just can’t help thinking the Belguim’s have that little bit extra experience, cool heads considering… just think we’re going to see a record for draws and penalty shoot-outs…
Don’t fancy Engerland at all, 1/4’s and home for Christmas I reckon.

5th November 2022 at 10:22 pm #200547Fancy Netherlands actually as well as Spain. Gakpo is bang on form and they have a strong backline as well as De Jong pulling the strings in midfield.

6th November 2022 at 7:29 pm #200632Always had a soft spot for Argentina since I was a kid even though I’m an England fan. Liked Brazil a lot too since late 80s early 90s. Romario! π

8th November 2022 at 9:10 am #200704βAccording to reports James has seen two specialists who believe he could be ready to play by the end of the month.
The right back is recovering from a bad knee injury and Gareth Southgate names his 26-man England squad for the World Cup in just 48 hours.β
Big call for Southgate.

8th November 2022 at 9:57 am #200708Is it though? I would think our squad should very safely be good enough for USA, Iran and Wales, when do the knock-outs start? That would be the “date” to consider.
