For Spurs to qualify for CL one of City, Liverpool, Chelsea or United would have to fail to make the top 4. Difficult to see that happen as things stand now.

1st November 2021 at 7:56 pm #188002You’re right Rover and Spurs are a way behind all 4 currently and all will likely strengthen again in the Summer. Not impossible to do it but certainly not easy.

1st November 2021 at 9:11 pm #188007Nine, what I was alluding to mate was the fact that the same name or names do the rounds everytime a Prem Boss loses their job. Conte may bring something different, but he’s another type of Manager that will expect to spend and sign with a wedge.
There’s a flaw in the system, but then that depends on the vision from the start. Would you want to choose the route of bringing a manager knowing he won’t stay with the club too long? For me longevity is the key to development and progression.

1st November 2021 at 9:22 pm #188010Nil, as I alluded to earlier Conte is attractive to Clubs looking for a new Manager because he’s a winner winning League titles at every Club he’s managed and he’s available without any compensation.
On average at the start of the 2019-20 Premier League, a manager lasted 789 days, which is the equivalent of 2 years, 8 weeks and 3 days. For context, that’s less than one-tenth the reigns of Arsene Wenger and Sir Alex Ferguson at Arsenal and Manchester United respectively.
Rightly or wrongly times have changed mate and the likes of Klopp are an exception to the rule now days.

1st November 2021 at 10:02 pm #188014This decision is blatantly a race to secure a better (and available) manager before someone else snaps them up (Barca, Newcastle, Man U). I’m sure if those positions weren’t already vacant (or soon to be) Spurs would have given him more time.
Thing is, by all accounts the last two managers were not popular in the dressing room, not sure how much better Conte will be._____________________________

1st November 2021 at 11:56 pm #188015In Hindsight, Nuno was not the right appointment from the start. He was out of his depth perhaps because of inexperience of managing a Top Club.
It’s a stop-gap and the club waste money in compensation pay-outs. Why not train somebody or give a younger person an opportunity or some sort of a secondment?
The development side lacks. Maybe a case of either you got it or you haven’t, but you need top quality players and knowledgeable and experienced coaching staff plus an assistant manager.

2nd November 2021 at 5:47 am #188016Well, there’s nothing saying he didn’t sign or ran off back to Italy with the hump…
Think I need to start thinking of some new songs…

2nd November 2021 at 6:11 am #188018AnonymousLacky of course Spurs can finish ahead of West Ham and Arsenal but I don’t believe they will finish ahead of City, Chelsea, Liverpool or United, that’s my prediction and unless they bring in players in Jan will find it difficult to even finish in the top 6. Conte does not have a magic wand.

2nd November 2021 at 6:53 am #188019The Players need to take responsibility too. How Many Managers will come and go? The challenge heightened more and more because of football ultimately being a business and the vast amounts of money involved is that there is pressure each week to deliver results.
Players go missing sometimes and they don’t consistently deliver every single week albeit the best. At worst, they’ll be sold. At best, they’ll be dropped, but it’s the Manager that usually takes the questions and the criticism.

2nd November 2021 at 7:49 am #188021Moos, undeniably it will be no easy task for Spurs to get back into top 4 and all of City,Liverpool and Chelsea look a long way ahead of them but getting Spurs out of the Europa Conference League and back into the Europa League proper is Conte’s first task it will be step by step this season CL football looks unlikely but next season after a number of new signings and Conte at the helm is not completely impossible providing there’s no falling out.

2nd November 2021 at 8:10 am #188022I doubt we’ll catch either of the money teams or LiVARberoOol, but with Conte coming in I certainly fancy our chances of catching/overtaking everybody else, even YooUtd. We all know they’re 1 game away from another crisis, and just like we looked good beating the Bone Saw Boyz the other week, YooUtd looked better than I suspect they really are when they spanked our bottom.
Geniunely think we have both a better squad and better manager than everybody else sitting in the top half of the table… and if we get 2/3/4 players in Jan with the reported 150 million warchest (that’s an impressive chest!) I’d be very surprised if we didn’t now.

2nd November 2021 at 9:13 am #188023Next season should be great then with the top 4 plus Spurs plus Arsenal plus Newcastle assuming they survive this season plus throw in the odd surprise team and the world can look forward to a exciting fascinating season. It’s great for the league.

2nd November 2021 at 9:43 am #188025Interweb nonsense is suggesting even though it’s 18 months, he still has a bunch of “break” closes in case Levy is talking nonsense again… sounds like Levy is going to have to splash the cash here…

2nd November 2021 at 10:15 am #188027I think you’re right Sean, Conte will ignite Spurs and Spurs are better than their performances have been this season the only problem may be is what else Conte might ignite.😊

2nd November 2021 at 12:09 pm #188029Spurs confirm Conte. Great appointment but down the line I expect fireworks given the personalities of Conte and Levy.
I loved Conte’s first season at Chelsea but hated his second season.
