12th November 2021 at 4:32 pm #188902I wonder what Villa fans think of the appointment. Also what is the reaction of Liverpool fans to Gerrard holding up a Villa shirt?

Gerrard is the Manager of Villa now Adlab why wouldn’t he hold up a Villa shirt?

12th November 2021 at 5:05 pm #188906Is it not surprising that off all the successful players who have played for Man Utd over the last 3 decades…not one seems to be a top manager. Too much easier money to be made in punditry I suspect part of it.

12th November 2021 at 5:28 pm #188908I don’t know how true it is but apparently Lampard has turned down the Norwich job according to posts on football sites, if it is true I wonder why. He knew the situation I think.

12th November 2021 at 5:29 pm #188909That’s true but it’s not just Man Utd. Most managers are obviously ex professionals. But of all the players who have played in the premier league, can’t think of many who have become top managers.

12th November 2021 at 6:57 pm #188910It’s conjecture obviously without knowing the full ins and outs, but I would suspect it’s more to do with timing and his priorities. He has children from 2 different relationships now in his personal life and one of which recently new born.
Perhaps he could have been in 2 minds. If he was to return, the conditions ultimately have to be right for him. Frank with his experience with Derby would be a good choice for Norwich.

12th November 2021 at 6:58 pm #188911Adlab..the simple answer is. Gerrard has been offered the job at Villa, he accepted and is paid by Villa. Cannot think why a Liverpool fan would be upset about that. The shirt holding is a ritual made by just about every club for PR exercise I think he will do well there but time will tell

12th November 2021 at 8:20 pm #188930AnonymousJust like Sean, I’ve absolutely no problem with Gerrard holding up a Villa shirt, he’s a manager now and it would be pretty weird if we were to not allow him to develop a relationship with any club that he works at.
I will be wishing him all the best too, just obviously not when he plays against us. He’ll get a heroes welcome when he returns to Anfield.

14th November 2021 at 12:54 pm #188960Some pleasing stats. In the climate we’re in, it’s hard to see both managers and players commit long-term and give that type of length of service.
We’ve seen the best of Klopp and Pep. The years go quickly.
