Here you go, Buffy, just for you… 🙂
Hampered buy injuries this season, combined with a manager who’s as stubborn as most with regards to being flexible with his “believes”, leave the mighty Spud not looking great for Euro football next season, not unless we win a pot somewhere…
Do I want to get rid? Getting dangerously close, with our defence dissimated, perhaps a more restrained approach might be in order…
All about gettting the Walking Dead on the pitch in time for a long run in either of the FA or Europa Cups… (really can’t see us getting past this years Champions in the semis of the Carabo!)…
As for the future, I’m tempted to stick, got some great youngsters coming through, don’t think our first 11 (when fit) is too shabby either…
But we’re never going to win the League with Angie, but then again, after Conte/Maureen years, you can’t blame Levy for not giving us an entertaining manager…

19th January 2025 at 7:59 pm #217446I really can’t make my mind up….
Yeap, absolutely buggered with injuries and have been for what seems like forever…
But its the 64 million dollar question… should Angie change his style of play to accommadate those who can play, or stick with his system so everybody is “aware” so when the injured comeback its a seemless transition…
Or should he just go 5-4-1 until they come back?
Don’t think we’ll in real danger of being relegated, we’ll win enough games when everybody is back, but hopes of European football next year rest on actually winning something this year now… maybe if we can stay in Europa long enough to get everybody back….. (and ironically end up with CL footy!)..
Dunno anymore…

19th January 2025 at 8:24 pm #217448Last ten games in the league, Spurs have won one, drawn three and lost seven and are 18th in the table over those ten games. Ange looks increasingly dejected in his post match interviews. Think this is only going one way. It’s a results business as they say. The Bournemouth or Fulham mangers would be good shouts for successors. But would they want to move from what they’re building? Ex Dortmund manager currently favourite I think. All would be an improvement on Ange imo.

19th January 2025 at 9:30 pm #217450Chucks, I really enjoy watching Tottenham Hotspur play Football so no arguments on that one.
There is clearly matters of ‘kicking the can down the road’ for the next Manager to try and resolve; the same I see at Man United.
People may arrow back at me, but would always assert above all, as long as a certain Levy is in charge…….
2 Defensive Midfielders for starters mate.

20th January 2025 at 7:56 am #217455Everybody enjoys playing Spuds too… easy peeasy… 3 points in the bank!! 🙂
And I don’t think it’s entirely fair to blame Levy at the moment either, its all about the injury list… do we wait long enough for some of them to come back (like the defense for example)… sacking Angie and putting somebody else in charge isn’t a miracle cure for dodgy hamstrings… 🙂
As depressing as it is from a fans point of view… I think we just have to ride this one out… most are due to be back in the next 2/3 weeks… hopefully we’ll still be in the Europa League… (pretty sure we’ll be out the League & FA Cups by then… 🙁

20th January 2025 at 9:02 am #217456I agree on the injuries banjo chum but its never taken into consideration for some reason when chairmen sack managers.

20th January 2025 at 2:39 pm #217458Somebody on Talksport discussing this very subject mentioned good things on Levy, but you’d think with all his on investment, he would need somebody external to support him.
More was mentioned towards coaching and just getting the basics right.
Of course, they need to hold on to their best players.

10th February 2025 at 10:51 am #218610Time for Angie to go… not a lot else can be said… the footballing gods are certainly not smiling down on us and despite the furry ones charm, he’s not helping matters… Son shouldn’t have been on the pitch, and if he was, should have been on the left… let the new lad, who’s a striker, play through the middle… even Buffy knew that… suspect Levy will keep him until we’re out of the Europa… but I think the change needs to be made before then, give the new manager a few weeks to get as much as he can sorted so we can have a “serious” crack at it…

10th February 2025 at 7:00 pm #218614Realistically tho with the injuries and part way through the season it makes no sense
Write it off and know who you want in the summer then pay what it takes
Give them a proper window and pre season otherwise it will be like Amorim now …._____________________________

11th February 2025 at 5:19 am #218615I would agree with the most part, cyber chum, but it’s his continued insistence is still playing this open expansive football that’s doing my head in… we were hardly racking up the points anyway before it all went Pete Tong, very much following a win one/lose one pattern and heading for probably a Top7 finish perhaps, and that was with a fully fit squad.
It’s all very entertaining, I’ll give you that, but going into games knowing we’re going to have to score at least 3 goals to have a chance of a point…
Personally, I think Levy will keep him for that exact reason/s you mention. I think the plan all along was to keep Angie until Poncho’s contract is up with the US…

11th February 2025 at 8:01 am #218616And that’s the other thing, when managers start banging on about need x,y,z number of windows…
To me, it always sounds like their playing “Championship Manager”, can’t be bothered to “manage” the players they already have, need to “buy” players that suit their vision… it always sounds like an excuse to me, like they’re laying the groundwork for failure…
“Yes, I know I’ve been here 4 seasons and had 8 transfer windows, during which I bought 23 players (unless it’s Jammy Todgers in which case ‘during which I only bought 172 players), but the chairman didn’t give me enough time to buy enough players…”
Remember when managers used to manage? 🙂
I know the Pool fans will be all over Arne for “Manager of the Year”, but I have to give it to Nuno at Forest, took a bundled up miss-match of a squad, and turned it into a bloody good team, as the table clearly reflects… that’s a manager!

11th February 2025 at 11:18 pm #218627Not sure “what” exactly is wrong with Spurs, but I did predict this would happen when Ange was appointed. I’ve followed his career quite closely, even interviewed him earlier in his career.
Have a look back at my original comments when he was appointed.
In short, Spurs was the the worst possible club he could have joined in the prem. Spurs have high expectations without the know-how of how to achieve. They also proclaim to be a big six club without paying the big six wages.
Ange is and always has been stubborn. He believes so strongly in his system and will NEVER sway from it. When I interviewed him after his first managerial trophy win, I asked him this question:
“When an opposition know how to counteract your system and it is not working, what is your plan B?”His answer…
“Plan B is to do Plan A better”.
I asked him this question back in 2011 and he has stuck to this same principle ever since, he’s never swayed. And to be fair, it is what has got him to where he is today but I think this philosophy has reached its ceiling. When you have the litany of injuries Spurs have, you simply have to adapt and change the system to suit the personnel you have.
…but he won’t, because of the above. It will see his downfall at Spurs.
He would have been far suited to joining a Palace, West Ham, Brighton etc where expectations would have been lower and could have refined his art within the prem and learn that his system doesn’t always work.
Despite what I have written above, I admire Ange, he is a breathe of fresh air but he is out of his depth in dealing with the prem media and fans expectations.

That’s it in a nutshell… he can’t/won’t/doesn’t… it’s like Mike Tyson once said, “Everybody has a plan until I smack them in the mouth”.

17th February 2025 at 2:42 pm #218698Okay, 2 wns on the trot, and 2 cleans sheets on the trot… not the greatest of boasts, for sure, but the first time thats happened for some time… got to take it where you can get it at the moment… away to Ipswich next… but with this Spuds side, you just never know what you’re going to get… just got to take one game at a time and see whos on the team sheet…
Do think we’re save from relegation, all about keeping as many of the 1st 11 fit for a proper crack at the Europa League now…

17th February 2025 at 4:32 pm #218700Deeper issues mate as you may be aware re the protests on ticket prices.
Not surprisingly, Levy is losing support from many fans.
