22nd April 2018 at 9:32 am #20811Before the signing of Van Dijk, this would have been the match winning header for West Brom. pic.twitter.com/OaLGcmUbFv

22nd April 2018 at 11:28 am #20812WIB, agree with you there on honesty – better than somebody coming out with the same robotic ‘what you want to hear’.
It goes with personalities, characters and who they are. I think perhaps one or two on here have a point re Jose and sometimes I have sympathy for the guy. It shows though, he is as sensitive as they come, and certain quarters of the media are not the nicest people to say the least. They know what buttons to push.
I think at best, this was just a feeling of grievance from Klopp. He didn’t sound malicious though and the same thing might have come from somebody like Roy Hodgson and nobody would have batted an eyelid.

22nd April 2018 at 11:32 am #20813On the subject of the pitch, I don’t know what the conditions are and whether specifically in the Premier League, clubs have to be compliant. You think though with the amount of money available, we’ve moved long past the days of Plough Lane.
I think ‘A’ manager is within his rights to express an opinion on what he thinks about the pitch and whether or not it suited his team. The pitch is often talked about in Cricket. It shouldn’t be any different in Football.

22nd April 2018 at 11:50 am #20815“The point about the pitch, first of all, it is not West Brom’s priority the pitch. There is no rule or law to say you have to make the pitch perfect for Liverpool”
“It is not in the rules that they should water the pitch, or overwater the pitch.
“It could have been better, of course, everybody wants it perfect for the style of play you play. West Brom do not play that style of play with the quick passes and movement.
“So you have to deal with the conditions.” Steve McMahon.
“I do not get why he is making these little excuses,” “I thought he was better than that, I do not get it.
“Just worry about the two goals, do not worry that the ref made a decision, or it should have been a pen, or the pitch was dry.
“That has baffled me a little bit, I thought he was bigger than that.” Rickie Lambert

22nd April 2018 at 12:13 pm #20818I’ve just seen the Daily Mail version of this and this sums up certain quarters of the British Press and Media.
We talk about the point in Managers being a little more open and honest, but it’s no wonder they are forced to deliver the platitudes.
Why do we live in a society now, where any form of emotions that expressed negative points of view or criticism is deemed as some sort of a rant?
Why is society like that? Cruelty.
I also don’t understand “I thought he was bigger than that” Nearly every Manager in Top Flight football in their career feels either some sort of a pressure or a moment to let off steam over the course of the season.
I think the only person to my knowledge who could keep his cool was Brendan Rodgers, but with his interviews, you may as well have played a Tape Recorder.
Journalists and Broadcasters are out to steal a headline, and sometimes, Managers make it easy for them, so they can print the word “RANT” and specifically target the point made about the pitch.
It shows once again something said has been blown out of proportion and rather than talk about the context of the match, some people choose to accentuate one moment of being aggrieved in a post-match interview.
Maybe back to being ‘robotic’ and strawberry pick your words and sentences!

22nd April 2018 at 6:02 pm #20833No donβt agree with Klopps comments. Ref was a joke fair enough but no need to say those things about West Brom.
Glad heβs angry though as we threw that away
Iβll belu be top 4 is clinched when we cannot be caught
Might still come down to us needing a win or draw at home to Brighton to clinch it
