31st December 2022 at 5:10 pm #20212512 minutes injury time must be a new record set. Jeez, Did Everton really time-waste and were there lots of injuries and stoppages?
Forgive the cynicism, but it’s as if they waiting and wanting City to find a winner. They have dropped points giving the Gunners a great psychological boost ahead of this evening’s encounter with Brighton at the Amex. A chance to go 7 Clear ahead of City.

31st December 2022 at 5:12 pm #202126So Arsenal can go 7 points clear if they beat Brighton later. Nobody saw that coming this season.

31st December 2022 at 5:17 pm #202128Cm, I think a few people under estimated how good a passer casemerio is. One of the best holding players of the last decade. Great signing

That is the easiest opportunity presented to Saka and believe these guys mean business. 1-0 and we’ve barely minutes in.

31st December 2022 at 5:49 pm #202130Agree Sean. it was a lot of money for a 30 year old, but if he continues performing the way he has done for 3-4 seasons, it would be money well spent.

31st December 2022 at 7:03 pm #202131Wow, Martinelli is just cool to watch. Finish π These guys remind me of a Blackburn of 93 – just happy go lucky. Some hard games mind that lie ahead, but they have racked up the points and anybody in their position if asked would snatch their arm.

31st December 2022 at 7:13 pm #202132Interestingly Arsenal have still not played City in the league yet, so they still have to play each other twice which adds to the drama.

31st December 2022 at 7:59 pm #202134Well done Arsenal although they were a bit too casual in the second half but overall this is a really good Arsenal team.
Arsenal’s next 4 games which are tough are likely to be crucial.
I would like to say Chelsea could do Arsenal a favour on Thursday but I doubt it.
What a pass by Odegard to Martinelli. I’ve been saying I still think City will win it but I’m not so sure now the picture will be clearer after City visit the Emirates.

31st December 2022 at 8:00 pm #202135Ten Hag will fancy City in a couple of weeks time. He’s facing a couple of fixtures, one of which looks a given. United only 4 behind City in points.
Arsenal in an unbelievable position

31st December 2022 at 9:06 pm #202137I fancied us against City back in October and yet we got spanked.
This City side will be up for it and the Everton result probably gave them the kick up the backside they needed.
United were too open at times against Wolves, give City those opportunities and Haaland will be burying another hatrick.

1st January 2023 at 8:49 am #202138The next 6 PL fixtures for both Arsenal and City include a number of difficult games for both teams in that period culminating in the Arsenal v City rearranged game.
Currently the title is in Arsenal’s hands but I tend to agree with CM the Everton result will have kicked City up the backside and unfortunately Chelsea play them on Thursday in their next PL game after Everton.π

1st January 2023 at 9:43 am #202139Any one of those pull off a series of wins out of the two and the title is in the bag. The Gunners do have really the bit between their teeth this season. They do face tougher challengers.
The interesting thing would be if both City and Arsenal were to drop points and the others start winning and narrowing the gap as a result. I think Man United have an outside chance out of the others.

1st January 2023 at 10:15 am #202140Re arsenals title prospects, for understandable reasons up until now despite their consistency I have not believed they can really win it, it was kind of I will believe it when I see it.
I don’t need to see it to believe they can now though, read yesterday that only 3 teams in top flight history have had more points than arsenal after same number of games. All went on to win the title, so no pressure Arteta π
Seriously though there shouldn’t be any pressure on arteta to win the title and I hope if arsenal do fall away and finish close second that he is still given the respect he deserves because let’s face it, we ain’t seen arsenal this good for best part of 20 years.
It’s strange for me and many others who would never wish arsenal the best, but seeing as my team can’t do it and it would be brilliant for the league a whole, I honestly wouldn’t mind seeing them win it, I really respect the team and some of their fans are alright too stevo π

1st January 2023 at 10:24 am #202142Lucky great post and refreshing from a rival fan.
I don’t begrudge Manchester City. They are a Fantastic Side and Admirable (put all the money side of things etc to one side). I just don’t want them dominating the entire decade. I don’t particularly like the way they are lauded too. The narrative coming from Commentators and Pundits just expect and assume City will walk the league every year unchallenged.
Arsenal’s efforts have been so far truly impressive and refreshing for their supporters considering what they have been through in recent times. They should be allowed to enjoy the ride and be happy. Liverpool had their fun and glory for a fair few years. Let someone else enjoy it.
There will be dropped points, but even if City do catch Arsenal and go onto win it, you’re right, nobody really should criticize Arteta. He has stuck at it despite of the adversity and really has turned things around bringing the best out of individual players.
