Nine Ed et al.Has Lampard actually been sacked then ?
The papers are part of the problem for me nowadays.Speculation.Speculation.Clickbait etc 🙁
Plus all the sheep who follow social media (espcially twitter) is actually worse imho.I’ve got talksport on right now and the presenters are talking about Nathan Jones getting the sack
after four losses.Loads of fans rang in last night saying he needs to be sacked. No doubt some of the same fans who wanted Hasenhuttl gone.Madness!! Be careful what you wish forKlopp’s the longest serving manager in the Premier league (7 years last oct 22) next I think Pep
(6 years last june 22) When you think about the amount of time that Fergie & Wenger spent at they’re respective clubs. How long would they last nowadays if they were just starting out?The problem with this sacking culture we have is the we have no up and coming managers in the system.Potter being the only one I can think of atm.Whenever any prem team pull the trigger it’s the same old names being touted Allardyce etc.
I can’t believe Alan Curbishley never got another prem job after the miracles he did.

5th January 2023 at 11:05 am #202301Ed, I’d give the job to Duncan Ferguson.

5th January 2023 at 12:11 pm #202303Rooney would be just another press and repeat appointment Ed.
Dyche would probably save them too but he falls into the same category as Rooney.
Without there’s a complete change of strategy and some meaningful investment Everton are a lost cause imo.
Everton’s problems start at the very top.
No I don’t disagree Nine but with the cost of relegation from the PL being what it is, it might not be the worst idea in the world to think short term now with a view to taking stock in the summer. For all the problems at the top, the absolute priority right now has to be avoiding relegation and it’s looking increasingly like Lampard would be taking them down. I think for different reasons any of Dyche, Ferguson or Rooney would give them a greater chance of surviving.

(6 years last june 22) When you think about the amount of time that Fergie & Wenger spent at they’re respective clubs. How long would they last nowadays if they were just starting out? It’s a tough one PPT. How far do you go with giving managers time, though? Have Pep and Klopp got time because they were doing great jobs or are they doing great jobs because they got time? It’s more the former IMO. Did Rodgers deserve the sack at Liverpool? Probably not, but had they given him more time they’d have never got Klopp. Pellegrini probably deserved more time at City. Had he got that, had Pep gone elsewhere? I think a lot of chairmen/owners will be looking at Arsenal right now. Arsenal were crap for a couple of years under Arteta but they’ve been rewarded for their patience despite many calls amongst fans to get rid. It works both ways. If Nigel Pearson got the time he deserved, Leicester would have never won the league.

5th January 2023 at 12:40 pm #202305Salient points Ed.I suppose it’s about getting the balance right.
Looking forward to see how Chelsea’s model runs under the new owners.Roman’s hire & fire policy worked a treat for Chelsea during his tenure by the amout of silverware Chelsea won.I’d like to think Potter will be given at least a minimum of 2-3 seasons to get his philosophy/ideas across?

5th January 2023 at 1:35 pm #202307Yeah Potter will need time. He’s not even had a single window yet. I think when you bring in a manager in the mould of Potter, you do so knowing he will need time to implement his ideas and get the players he needs. The fact they have brought in a number of Brighton staff suggests they’re prepared to wait fo him to get it right. As you say, we always knew how Roman worked so it was very easy to predict when a manager was in trouble for Chelsea under his stewardship. As you say, it worked a treat too. Under Boehly, you’d assume there’s more leniency and patience given the above but who knows.

5th January 2023 at 8:39 pm #202316Not a lot happening really. Both teams playing with a lot of caution. We haven’t created one decent chance yet with 10 minutes to HT

5th January 2023 at 8:56 pm #202320When committing bodies forward, Chelsea haven’t left themselves short for City’s counter and Haaland’s pace. They have intercepted with care at the right place at the right time.

5th January 2023 at 9:00 pm #202321Quite disappointed with our play. We do not seem incisive enough going forward. Can’t put my finger on it but it was the same v Everton.
Is it lack of wing play?_____________________________
