16th September 2018 at 4:37 pm #26389I think we will finish 3rd Hightown. We need a trophy badly this season.
I won’t get carried away after 5 games. Best squad we have had for years but still a few players short of a real title challenge on my opinion
Vvd has made such a difference. Well worth the money. It’s exciting times mate but I’ll aleays keep my feet on the ground until we actually really achieve something

16th September 2018 at 6:11 pm #26394I said 3rd at the start of the season. I don’t dream. We have one cup in 12 years. We haven’t won the league in 28 years. We are fighting with super powers of football for the league.
You might laugh but I think we used all our luck in 05. We are cursed
2014 our captain slips. Could happen to anyone but that’s just unreal. Cl final our best player goes off after 25 min and our keeper makes two mistakes you will never see happening in the one match again
We don’t turn up for finals. We have lost our last 4 and klopp his last 6. That’s why I’m not confident we will do anything. We bottle every opportunity we get.
1-0 el final and we fall apart
We threw the pl away.
I’ll stwrt to really believe something is changing when we actually win something
Very happy with klopp and the team. Love watching us play but I won’t get carried away after 5 games and I won’t believe the tide is changing till we really achieve something. Club is in a great state. Some top class players but I’m just not as confident as some
Just cl football is not bgood for the season.

16th September 2018 at 9:16 pm #26400Very difficult to predict after just 5 games but City and Liverpool look the strongest anf most likely title contenders imo probably finishing in that order.
I have a feeling United will get stronger and ultimstely finish third hopefully if not in third place Chelsea can finish in 4th place and you can’t write off both Spurs and Arsenal for a top 4 finish yet with another 33 games to play.

17th September 2018 at 10:16 am #2640727-United cannot any stronger m8 because our main player-in Pogba does not want to be there.Everybody can see there is no harmony withing the club-fighting for the 4th its the best we can hope.

17th September 2018 at 11:32 am #26412Anonymous999 – I know you don’t like to big Chelsea up in any way but how can you say city and Liverpool look strongest when Chelsea are top of the league?

17th September 2018 at 4:32 pm #26414Paxton, City are strongest team in the PL and Liverpool aren’t too far behind imo both with Managers in their third seasons in the PL and City imo are one of the best teams in Europe currently.
Chelsea have had a great start no doubt about that and I’m surprised they are sitting at the top of the PL having won 5 consecutive games but 3 of those wins were against 3 teams currently in the bottom 4 and Chelsea are a long way away from the finished article, are playing under a new Manager with entirely different tactics and are at least a couple of players short of a title winning team imo.
Realistically I think it’s all about Chelsea trying to achieve a CL place this season but I would be delighted to be proved wrong!?

17th September 2018 at 4:50 pm #26415AnonymousAnd 4 of the 5 teams Liverpool have beat are In the bottom half. You can only beat what’s In front of you. Liverpool have won all 5 but don’t look as fluid as last season. Chelsea look far better than last season. you said “city and Liverpool look the strongest” despite the fact Chelsea look better and sit above them. I might not make them favourites but based on the first 5 games they are deservedly top of the league. Liverpool got lucky against Leicester and could’ve easily drawn against spurs if a penalty (not complaining) had been given in injury time, although they fully deserved the win.

17th September 2018 at 4:59 pm #26416I think you’re right there Pax currently Chelsea do deserve to be on top of the PL significantly more difficult challenges lie ahead though.
But with Hazard on this form I wouldn’t rule them out, personally I don’t think the latest SkyBet odds are too far off beam.
Manchester City
8/11
Liverpool
7/4
Chelsea
10/1
Manchester Utd
40/1
Tottenham
40/1
Arsenal
80/1_____________________________

17th September 2018 at 5:31 pm #26418Pax was a definite pen.
We got lucky at the end really we would be kicking ourselves as we should have been at least another goal at that stage
Liverpool haven’t got going yet and I don’t think city have either. Chelsea have hazard. Best player in the pl on current form?
They have a very strong midfield.

17th September 2018 at 6:44 pm #26419Sean. I think you’re right about Chelsea’s midfield three and they may well be the the best midfield three in the PL and Hazard currently if he’s not world class he’s very close to being world class.
The problem is Chelsea currently aren’t defensively sound and they don’t have a striker who compares to Costa either his presence or goals if Sarri could solve those two prblem areas Chelsea would be a real title contender.
I hear lots of talk about Liverpool not hitting form yet but I don’t think anyone has really hit maximum form yet and all the top teams have more in them imo not just Liverpool.

17th September 2018 at 6:45 pm #26420AnonymousSean – it was a penalty but needed slow mo replays to show it. I genuinely would’ve felt bad about getting a point in that game. Would have been the least deserved point we have ever earned. Plus if we got a point, on paper it would look good and poch would think all is good.

17th September 2018 at 6:58 pm #26421I’ve always rated giroud nine. Scored loads of goals v liveroool. Perfect man to bring hazard and Pedro/Willian into the game.
He’s not scoring enough but a good signing for Chelsea mate

17th September 2018 at 7:04 pm #26422The question is who, out of the current top 3 teams, has the edge??
I think Sarri is clearly getting the best out of the Chelsea players, particularly Hazard who looks to be in the form of his life, but they will have sterner tests ahead.
City again look like a very well oiled title winning machine, whose only enemy really is themselves and whether they can find that same drive again as last year.
As for Liverpool, whilst I partly agree with Nine that the goalkeeper has been a key signing this season – I think whilst he will now enable us to challenge, he hasn’t necessarily given us the edge we need against our rivals. I still think we’re an attacker short, though a lot of my belief that we can perhaps still get one up on our rivals is how quickly Keita can not only settle into midfield but also score goals. If he does so, a la Gerrard, I think he could give us the edge on the other two clubs because he will be both an insurance policy to our front 3 whilst also complementing them.

17th September 2018 at 8:58 pm #26430Agree Sean Giroud is a very good target man and brings others into the game bit of a bargain at £18m even though he’s 32 this month just wish he would score a few more.?
