16th August 2019 at 9:54 pm #45549I hope we don’t rush Rudiger in a panic. with our recent leaky defense, he is our only hope to tighten that backline. if he is not ready, we should be patient with him. besides that, whilst fragile still Zouma has improved from his previous performance, and mind you it was Liverpool the second-best team in the league. so in the sense, I see a light in the tunnel. the more games he plays the more confidence he gains. and playing a not fully fit not only hurts his long term fitness, but it also will not be helpful to the team. he is our most senior CB as at now. and we need to keep him fit.

16th August 2019 at 11:45 pm #45550Chelseaman, restoring both Rudiger and Kante to the team will significantly help us defensively we saw that with just Kante’s return on Wednesday night v Liverpool.
Zouma was a bit shaky v United but he was much more confident v Liverpool Rudiger won’t be selected until he’s considered by the medical staff to be 100% fit and even then I don’t expect him to hit the ground running considering his lack of match practice.
But no doubt about it we will be stronger defensively once Rudiger is match fit and back playing regularly.

17th August 2019 at 3:13 am #45553AnonymousI didn’t see the Utd V chelsea game but if Utd had turned up and beaten the exact same performing Chelsea side that we drew with, I’d be pretty shocked, nevermind the 4-0 business.
there are always surprises in football. Time and time again, we think it’s going to be predictable but almost every year there is a new winner and every year there is a surprise, or at least vastly improved team. Who am I to say that ole hasn’t found some unity amongst his squad, or that Lampard won’t begin an incredible break-out season.
I do feel a bit more confident that when I make predictions that people on here aren’t holding onto them for a time when they are shove them in my face. All the same, i feel it necessary to make it clear that with a big step forward, where everything feels like it’s falling into place, anything can happen.
i think Liverpool finished 24 or so points above their previous position the season before? we don’t even need to touch the Leicester season. Who’s next?
I can’t wait to find out and there are a pretty good set of fixtures here to keep us entertained. may the best teams win!

17th August 2019 at 8:33 am #45554I’m really impressed with how Chelsea played in the games with tough teams in United and Liverpool,”
“They didn’t win but I was really surprised with how good Frank Lampard’s team played.” Pep Guardiola.
Kind words from Pep. Chelsea are still missing Rudiger, James, Willian, Hudson Odoi and Loftus Cheek and Kante had his first full game on Wednesday with no pre season and he will only get better with games.
Obviously not being able to buy in the transfer window has hampered us but it’s also given chances to several young players to stake their claims and it will give Frank the chance to clearly spot the gaps that might need filling once the ban ends.
I think Chelsea will win more a lot more games than they lose especially when we have a fully fit squad realistically though the top 4 might be beyond us this season the top 3 seems pretty easy to predict and 4th place looks like it will be between United and Arsenal.
We could do with 3 points v Leicester on Sunday but it won’t be easy they’re a good team and Istanbul will have taken something out of us. Fingers crossed though.?

17th August 2019 at 9:36 am #45556nine, Everton and Leicester have invested enough now to really be knocking on the door of the top 6.
Leicester are a good side. Rodgers has done really well since he came in there. He’s a good manager. Talks a lot of tripe but seems to be highly respected by ex players and people in the game.
I don’t know why they signed Perez as Maddison plays in his position.
Very interesting weekend nine mate. I think Liverpool will struggle after wed
We need to fresher things up

17th August 2019 at 10:40 am #45558AnonymousYa, we’re not just gonna have European match hangover, the extra 30 minutes was bringing players on both sides to the very limit. I think we were lucky to get away from that without injuries but have we had enough time for them to fully recover? I don’t think so TBH. I see that Chelsea play Sunday. I think our fixture should have been moved to then also.
I assume the lads flew back home straight away after the match Wednesday night/thursday morning. That’s nearly 2 full days of recovery. think it might be enough?

17th August 2019 at 12:33 pm #45564Mav, definitely a bad start for Barca but I suspect they’ll still be up there when La Liga hits the home straight. Obviously Messi is a big miss for Barca and they lost Suarez in the first half too.

17th August 2019 at 1:12 pm #45567Just about value for the lead Nine I think, but Burnley giving it a good go as one would expect of them. Decent game. Luiz playing in back 4 so always possibility of a Burnley goal 🙂 To be fair to Luiz Arsenal look a different team in possession with him bringing ball out into midfield.
