Just tuning in – got Radio 5 on and seems VAR once again has been involved.

19th August 2019 at 9:19 pm #45855Had VAR overruled that, I think I’d have turned the game off. After the new handball rule, this “getting the offside millimetre ruler out” is also getting somewhat farcical. They’ve got to start giving a bit more leeway – we’re not playing the game at the atomic level!

19th August 2019 at 9:39 pm #45857Hell of a hit from Nevers and a great penalty save from Patricio.

19th August 2019 at 9:49 pm #45858Yeah would have been incredibly harsh Mikus. Although I’ve no idea why they stopped our attack just now when Martial got through. They’re supposed to let them go and go back

19th August 2019 at 9:52 pm #45859But Mikus , by the rules is it offside? His arm was off no? He can’t score with arm so is it offside?
Ed, maguire calmness and passing were excellent but he wasn’t tested defensively
Thought wolves were poor going forward.
Why did Pogba take it?

19th August 2019 at 10:01 pm #45860No he still has it all to prove does Maguire Sean but he’s done as well as anyone could have hoped so far. Wolves and Chelsea 2 very good sides and he’s looked very solid.
Ridiculous that Pogba took it. Missed tons of pens for us already. Just desperate to grab the limelight. We’ve no chance of top 4 anyway.

19th August 2019 at 10:02 pm #45861Sean, as far as I understand, arms are not considered when judging offsides. My point more concerning to what degree of measurement we go down to when judging it before it becomes somewhat farcical.

19th August 2019 at 10:10 pm #45863wolves were piss poor going forward, especially first half with a pathetic 69% pass success. Not easy building attacks with 8 defenders and 2 forwards though. They were as painful to watch as my chelsea in conte’s 2nd season. I was so annoyed I found myself wanting utd to win. I wish I could rip into both these teams, but I cant because no matter how crap they both were there is a chance both could finish above chelsea this season 🙂 although at least chelsea’s games were entertaining.

19th August 2019 at 10:22 pm #45865The way Utd set up at the moment we’re much more effective when teams come at us and we can break at pace. We pressed well but didn’t really have the intelligence to break them down. Dominant first half from Utd. Naive second half. Few will take 3 points at Molineux this season, that’s for sure

19th August 2019 at 10:25 pm #45867Ye Ed, proper pace in that utd team now. James is very raw but he’s a flyer and could become a very good player
Martial done well in the last two games up front

19th August 2019 at 10:28 pm #45869Yeah quite like Martial there Sean. Ridiculous how much they’re over analysing the penalty choice.
Yeah James is very raw. Could either be a Theo Walcott or a Ryan Giggs.

19th August 2019 at 10:32 pm #45870Lucky, for me, Chelsea are a complete unknown entity at the moment. The fixture list looks a bit better over the next few games compared to the first 3 for you lot. I think once Chelsea get their first win on the board they’ll have a slightly delayed honeymoon period, like most clubs with new managers. It’s what happens when the inevitable dip comes that matters, though. I think Chelsea will really push on now once Lampard settles on an XI but I have a feeling it will all fall apart before the end of the season, sadly. As romantic as it is, it’s so incredibly rare for a club hero to take the reigns and make a success of the manager job.

19th August 2019 at 10:58 pm #45871Ed, I agree with you and totally behind frank, but i do think we will always be vulnerable to good defensive countering sides this season. rashford and martial are seasoned pros next to tammy and giroud is impact sub. Until ruben and hudson are playing week in week out and we have a top striker we will struggle against good defensive teams like wolves imo

Exactly. I didn’t know they were going to go THIS crazy about it but I’ve been calling for an advantage in close situations for a time now, purely because of the time needed to make these calls but it’s just pedantic and honestly, another thing to seemingly purposefully undermine VAR.
I don’t believe that this venture into VAR is being executed in earnest.

19th August 2019 at 11:02 pm #45873AnonymousAs for Wolves and Leicester. They are already proving what I think most of us have been speculating. Honestly, I hope they keep going strong because this whole separation of the pack from the rest of the league is very unhealthy.

19th August 2019 at 11:18 pm #45874to add to that ed, while I agree this season could poor for us, there is also a very real possibility of a big uplift, and good luck to emery or solskjaer keeping their jobs if either finish below lampards chelsea!
