22nd September 2020 at 2:14 pm #166563First Mak, then Paxton. There is a common denominator and has been here all of about 6 weeks. I am not taking sides just stating a fact. There are certain protocols we all follow and most know where that line is and not to step over it, especially when interacting with opposition supporters. It is called respect and the majority exercise it while some need to take it on board. Thankfully Mak is back and hopefully it won’t be a long spell for Paxton. This is a great site and in the main everybody has little or no reason to step on toes. Long may it continue.

22nd September 2020 at 5:46 pm #166568Anonymous67, I had forgotten his involvement. Still, in my case, I definitely got myself banned but it still matters if you have someone being overly controversial. Not comfortable saying more on it though. I too would like to see Paxton back soon enough but as Editor has said, he doesn’t want to be policing the site so much, it’s a side project and I totally get that.
I remember some time back, there was talk about creating another mod. I can’t remember where that went exactly but even on good sites like this, fallings out are inevitable. It might be best to add another patrol member, to lighten the load on you Ed and also avoid perma-ban scenarios. Feel free to tell me where to stuff my suggestion, I’m just looking for a solution.

22nd September 2020 at 8:54 pm #166576Thanks to all for kind remarks. The point of my mail was really not so much about my plight but just wish fans would respect all views, just do not respond to those that stray off the in there own world

22nd September 2020 at 9:52 pm #166579West Ham. Moyes and two players with the virus.
No fans in until at least March.
Football finances are going to be in real trouble. Looks like another non season sadly._____________________________

22nd September 2020 at 10:13 pm #166580Not at all Mak. Always open for suggestions and ideas. Would happily add another moderator as long as there is someone happy to do it. Ideally someone who doesn’t get involved in stuff themselves though ๐. My suggestion would be Hightown but he’s probably not on here enough.

23rd September 2020 at 12:22 am #166582Dear Brian, I’m currently taking a bit of a break from posting on here as I’m going through a bit of a difficult time currently with my illness and it’s become a bit tougher now managing it all.
Hopefully I’ll get back to posting soon once I feel a little more up to it, fortunately I’ve got a great Consultant taking care of me and a great Hopital too which is a big help and I have great faith.
I just popped on to the site and read about your sad news which is what motivated me to drop you these few lines.
I would like to add my voice to that of the Ed’s and others. It’s always a delight to read your thoughts and your posts Brian you’re a credit to your Club and a massive asset to this site my friend.
I will keep both you and your family in my thoughts and prayers.
Warmest Regards, take care Brian and God Bless.9’s

23rd September 2020 at 12:33 am #166583AnonymousEditor, there wa sa time when I wasnt getting in th emix of it and I was mentioned. I refused for exactly this reason. I know I will sometimes get involved, you need someone who wont be and someone who is active and able. HH is a fantastic candidate, from most respects but I think he turned it down do to lack of activity (correct me if Im wrong).
How about we have a rotating moderator, if that isn’t technically too much of an issue. I only say this just to start it off.
Lets start by nominating Brian for a week. I nominate Steveo for the week after. i think maybe Sean the week after, this way we keep the clubs representation up also. look, if this is a stupid idea then say so. Im just spitballing.

23rd September 2020 at 7:28 am #166588My spidey sense has been tingling for a while with a few posters not posting often ….. I suspected your health was giving you grief 999, stay strong my friend and as you say let the fab health services do their thing! Hope it turns around soon.
Brian we know why you posted and mentioned your losses and it wasnโt for sympathy! Great sentiments for the post and we can all get silly sometimes. We just need to step and think once in a while!Which is also why Iโd be a rubbish moderator ๐คฃ thanks but no thanks, frankly I canโt be trusted, bound to have a wobble at some point. Itโs a thankless task Iโve failed at once already ๐คฃ
Happy for another mod to help 999 and Chris but someone of a slightly higher calibre than me! High town would be ideal!

23rd September 2020 at 8:00 am #166590Exactly stevo, Iโm guilty of it aswell. We are so passionate about our clubs that sometimes we canโt see the obvious.
We just need to chill and be more objective and if someone disagrees with your opinion so what. Itโs their right.
Mak, I canโt moderate chum lol.
Iโm in a bit of a phone black out. Trying not to read any news, staying off all social media etc and only place Iโm checking in , is here and other football websites
Football on the tv and discussing football is a big help through all this as itโs getting worse again and itโs tough on the aul head st times

23rd September 2020 at 8:14 am #166591Guys,I appreciate all your kind words but as often confirmed to me on my often day long visits to the Hospital there are lots worse off than me.
I posted yesterday primarily to offer some words of support to Brian who is going through a tough time himself and at the same time although the Ed was aware I wanted to take the opportunity to explain to you all my temporary absence from posting.
I’ll be back shortly because posting on Footydebate can be a useful distraction but right now with the way things are for me currently (although thankfully the news was a bit more positive from my Consultant yesterday) I’m taking a short break from posting on Footydebate.
Thank goodness some might say but don’t worry when Chelsea are at full strength and winning games in some style I’ll be back.๐
In the meantime remember it’s only a game and there are much more important things in life than football.
Stay safe y’all ja mata ne. Cheers 9’s

23rd September 2020 at 8:23 am #166592999 and Brian – very best wishes to you both. Hope you’re both on the road to recovery! Like Mak, I wondered where 9 was after the game on Sunday, it was unlike him not to be on here offering his congrats, so I hope you’re on the mend, pal.
Ed, you’d be surprised how much I am on here, I just don’t always have the inclination or time to post, but I read most of what is posted and obviously enjoy the diversity of opinions!! As for the row between Pax and Young Blue, it was all something over nothing, and just a difference of opinions which is surely what the site is about anyway. From memory there was no abuse thrown around. Young Blue’s opinion was to say the least a minority one, but I have no problem him offering it, but with an opinion like that, you have to be prepared to accept a little ridicule and joshing. All harmless handbags as far as I am concerned.
I think 9 is the perfect moderator, surely a career in the diplomatic service was missed, but in the short term and only while he is away, if people think I would make a fair minded mod, then I’m happy to do it. Don’t really know what it involves, but hey, I’m sure you’ll be on your best behaviour for me!

23rd September 2020 at 9:00 am #166597Great stuff, Hightown. You’re now a moderator. In terms of what to do, don’t worry too much about it. Just really means you can now edit posts, delete posts, merge posts, close threads etc. Most of which you’ll not need to do anyway.
