Let me highlight the elephant in the room for United, For me United’s biggest problem is Ronaldo. before he came to the team, they have been good before he arrived. now his presence is hurting the team and creating unneccessary media attention. also, young players they have invested heavily are now struggling to settle. worst of all, OGS doesn’t know how to handle Ronaldo in the dressing room. and anyone who replaces OGS will face similar problem. at 36 the PL pace and physicality is affecting Ronaldo. and it’s there to be seen.

16th October 2021 at 5:06 pm #186617Long old season ahead for Utd until they have the balls to get rid of Ole. We shouldn’t be getting outplayed by this Leicester side with the side we had out. Never for a minute thought we’d get anything today.
Sadly, I think he’ll get the whole season no matter what but it’s, frankly, ridiculous that a club as big as Utd is being so patient with Ole. No other big club would give him this much time.

16th October 2021 at 5:12 pm #186620Young blue, I don’t think Ronaldo is the problem per se. He’s more than capable of still competing at this level. I do think Ronaldo, Varane and Sancho, three high profile players on top of the likes of Pogba and Bruno etc has given Olea new problems he hasn’t faced before.
He’s now dealing with huge characters and egos who are used to winning. This wasn’t really the case when he first came in and he simply had to lift the players whose spirits were in the gutter after Mourinho left.

16th October 2021 at 5:13 pm #186621Completely agree Ed. I was quietly confident when I saw our starting lineup with Evans back. This was a our strongest starting XI all season (even with Ndidi out).
I’m baffled how he has had this amount of time AND this amount of money. He is utterly clueless tactically and I mean that literally. I would rate every other manager in the league better than Ole with tactics._____________________________

16th October 2021 at 5:14 pm #186622I don’t blame Ole for this. He’s created a very good side. The strongest we’ve had for a long time. Stronger even than Fergie’s last title winning side. But in taking us this far, he’s created a dressing room which is now beyond his capability to manage. He simply isn’t cut out for managing these players.

16th October 2021 at 5:21 pm #186623Ole out day again.π
Obviously results like today’s are unhelpful to him but I agree with the Ed if anything is going to happen I suspect it won’t be until the Summer.
Can’t help thinking Conte would be a great appointment for United.

16th October 2021 at 5:28 pm #186624Writings on the wall for Ole, there can only be one person in charge and in signing Ronaldo he effectively signed his own death warrantβ¦β¦β¦..Pagan

16th October 2021 at 5:30 pm #186625That Chelsea backline somehow looks a bit suspect today, let’s see

16th October 2021 at 5:36 pm #186626To be fair things can change. We could face a United backlash next Sunday. Every second counts so you can’t rest on your laurels and be immune from any late goals.
Maybe one or two players like Martial and Cavani could change things.
Realistically, Ronaldo would be perceived as a marquee and certainly no elephant in the room with an ego, but somebody that can lift the United dressing room and provide experience.

16th October 2021 at 5:39 pm #186627It was a great game. That was a very strong utd side out but they donβt look like a team. Itβs like a bunch of strangers playing together

16th October 2021 at 5:58 pm #186628Rover, backline not the issue for me even though we don’t have one first choice player in any of 3 positions. The issue for me is that we not creating chances at anywhere near a respectable rate for title challengers, especially in 352 and so one goal conceded and we in the doo doo.

16th October 2021 at 5:58 pm #186629AnonymousI agree with everything except that I think they’ll sack Ole soon. I’ve made this prediction before but they didn’t have Ronaldo desperately trying to win another PL title before he retires…
I would say he’ll be gone within 5 games but availability of replacements is everything.

16th October 2021 at 6:27 pm #186631Fortunately for the rest of the sides around us, I’d say he’s definitely there until the end of this season. He only recently signed a contract extension and his assistant, Mike Phelan, very recently extended his too. I think only a total collapse and we start tumbling down the league would change that. That’s not impossible considering the strong characters in the dressing room mind.
A humiliation from Liverpool or City in the upcoming games could certainly make things more difficult.
The odds for a replacement don’t exactly make for optimistic reading either. Poch favourite?! Rodgers 2nd favourite π€¦ββοΈπ. Conte won’t get the job as he’s too much like Mourinho. Come in for a couple of years. Win an FA Cup then leave an ageing squad. I’d like to think we’ve learnt from that mistake. Zidane would be my bet. I think he’d struggle but I think he’ll get it. He’s on good terms with all the egos and big characters (Ronaldo, Pogba, Varane, Martial). Rodgers, Southgate (4th favourite)? Big no thanks. I’d rather keep Ole than get either of those in.

16th October 2021 at 6:33 pm #186632I don’t think United will make any decisions on the basis that Ronaldo wants to win the PL Mak.

16th October 2021 at 7:05 pm #186635Today playing without Ederson, Walker, Jesus, Diaz, Foden Grealish so not too bad. Didn’t play that well but a reasonably straightforward win. Keeps us up there
